I hate that Steve can't get his shit together. I also hate that the rest of the band didn't stick with him. Maybe one day we'll end up with all of them back together. Steve and Ed have been friends since they were children, for goodness sake!
@like900 Hrm. I really don't remember posting that comment. I mean, I miss Steve, but the band is still just as good as they were. Ed and Kevin harmonize so well.
@bamapagedesign - did you never hear the new Ladies' song, "You Run Away?" He's singing to Steve. It's sad that they're not together but don't blame it on the band for not being able to "stick with him."
I love these dudes. Too bad Steven is out, but they still rock. I have a cover of this song up on my page, please check it out and leave me a comment. Late!
It's awesome that they decided to "revive" this superb, underrated song by Bruce Colburn. These guys really know their music and they dont have to distort anything to have their audiences totally into their shows.

no offense to BNL, but bruce cockburn does a way better job on this tune. im not sure why musicians choose to copy popular songs. i find rarely if ever that the copy is better then the original
im sort of on the same page as you, but do you really like all originals better than covers. reel big fish and a day to remember did phenomenal covers of songs that blew the origs out of the water. but what do i know, im a 18 year old trendy kid :)
I've been watching youtube vids of BNL for the last hour or so... Saw them live before their first cd even came out (when all they had was that yellow tape!) at the very first Arts County Fair at UBC. When they sang lovers, it was so surreal being in the crowd... time seemed to slow down... that moment is etched in my memory
Maybe the Steve leaving thing is just one big joke, they'll come out in another month say "Gotchya!" and we'll all have a great laugh and carry on with out lives.
As much as I would like that, I just don't think it's true. It seemed to me that Mr. Page had other interested beyond creating more pop music and he decided to leave the band to focus more on his interests.
They aren't The Barenaked Ladies without Steven Page, his voice isn't even human it's so amazing. I saw them live and literally forgot where I was while he was singing a solo part, I just got lost in his music.
I agree that they aren't the Barenaked Ladies without Steven Page. I mean...they can try to keep the band up but I think their popularity will decrease enough without him that they may end up breaking up after all.... *cries*
@madblackspy ya,but you know what he means.come on, ya there still a band, but not the original line up, a classic band issue.look at the doors. ya they still tour, but we all know, but i smell a die hard bnl fan, respect man.
One of the best covers of a song I have ever heard. If I was Cockburn I would be flattered and extremely happy with what the Ladies did with this song. Beautiful.
Was at this show. Later saw them at the Red Robinson. YOu wanna talk about an awesome show, if you ever get to see BNL in a small theatre like that, pay whatever you have to, it's amazing!
Actually was in 1983 but I guess it got to the US a yuear later. I liked this cover and I agree with you about BNL covering it, because the song indeed it's a great one, but definitely Cockburn's rules!!!
This is Bruce Cockburn's song--BNL are covering it--where were they in 1984 when Bruce did it? They do a really good cover! Both have their own music--but in this instance they're paying tribute to a talented Canadian musician/songwriter.
no offence but i pefer bruce cock burns original vrsion better than bnl theres is realy good but theres just that littel beat in cock burns that gets ya going
Where are these guys these days? Last time I saw one of them at the Scarborough Town Center walking around was around 3 years ago. I wonder where they are these days, anyone know?
For ppl that want to get that song can use Limewire or Frostwire to get it. I did and it's on my iPod now and I LOVE it this is my favourite song of all 230!!!
I am proud of this Band. Pure Canadian Blood!! Bruce Cockburn's song. I enjoy both.
