Sounds good I turbocharged my 97' 4.5 stroker xj and put a pacesetter header magnaflow high flow cat and a bullet muffler all 3in sounds waaaaay different a lil more deeper then yours but not by much but sounds good I give u props!!!
@MeeMNooN wow howd u find a jeep with that few miles on it? good find. and it is deffinitely worth every $. i have a 99 manual 4wd wit 190k still on the first clutch, jeeps last forever
sounds good...i had a 96 cherokee witht the 4.0 and had a combo of magnaflow high flow cat & a flowmaster 40 series & no header...sounded damn good at idle to around 2500 rpm's...after that it started sounding ricey...i might have to go with your combo after i get the 4.0 to 5.0 stroker kit...ill have videos up before during and after i get done with my build...8 inch lift Skyjacker long arm, 35's, pro comp wheels, warn 9500 winch, stroker kit and front and rear chromoly dana 44's with detroits
Nice, sounds good! i have a 94 cherokee with 2.5 inch piping all the way, no cat, a flowmaster super 40 muffler 3 inch tip, AFe stage 2 cold air intake. will it sounds and perform better if i put the headers? gale banks ones? let me know
you need to put for videos up of this jeep!! like on the road. you should add the throttle body spacer and high performance plugs thats about $150 for 30hp!
Ok i am confused. In your description you have three exhaust systems listed.
The Gibson cat back, the Angelus SS Dual exhaust, and the flowmaster super 40. What is your setup in this video? you cant have three full exhaust systems. Unless you took parts from other vehicles and pieced it all together. let me know because I like the sound and would like similar sound from my wj
so what did all this run you? i have a 98 and would love orit to sound like yours. could you have split the exhaust so it comes out on oposite sides o bumper?
@IROCwarriorAMC88 I have a 03 Grand Cherokee larado. It has a dana 35 rear axle with 3.55 gears. My front axle is a dana 30 and im not sure of the gears. You more than likely have that same set up. Look on the rear diff and there should be 2 tags. that will tell you the gears and just call any jeep dealership and they should be able to look that up free of charge
Also.. i need to ask you.. what did you do about the O2 sensors in the stock exhaust piping.. i know there are 4 and you seemed to have replaced the whole exhaust system. whatd you do about them
hey hows it sound on the inside? Is it too loud? im thinking about just doing a flowmaster 40 series muffler and keeping the rest stock. how would that sound?
It's not bad inside at all. Slight droning noise, but nothing annoying. The FM 40 muffler is going to give you the biggest sound difference so it'll definitely sound better than stock. Go for it if you're budget is limited.
Hey ghetto 2315.. i would just like to say this sounds fucking nasty, i would love to get my I6 grand cherokee sounding like this bad boy. What part of jersey are you from.
dont worry man, im not doubting you. if you say its an inline 6, i believe you. im just saying that it sounds more like a V6. its probably just my ears
@kylespeed24 its not a "V6" The jeep 4.0L is a Inline six and a PROPERLY tuned Inline six can put out as much power as a V8 the problem is almost no body knows how to tune them, not even the few companies who make them. before a spectaular crash a few years back I had a cherokee with the 4.0L motor that could run a 11 flat in a quarter mile
what tune are you talkin about? I have an 01 XJ and i read stock specs are 190hp/220tq and i'm looking to get like around 225+/250+. I ordered a high flow intake and throttle body spacer, next is a flowmaster 2.5". I'm really interested to hear your response.. what were the bolt on specs of yours? N/A or forced..?
I am N/A. FI is my next modification. The tune I am talking about is the Superchips Flashpaq 3875 Super Tuner. It is a hand held tuner. It does well to tie in all the mods you have done.
i got a 2005 jeep grand cherokee and didnt put no cat on it and its a 40 series but i didnt rev it and im gonna put a video on for it and im gettin some new cats and i already got the 2 inch lift suspension!!!!
nice sound to it. im getting a jeep next summer and im looking for a used one in the $4000-$8000 range. i plan to do work on it to. what do you suggest?
So you left the stock Cat on there or what did you use in combination with the Headers and Flowmaster... if you removed the cat completely where did you get the O2 Simulator?
I left the stock cat on there. The XJ cat is pretty free-flowing already. Plus, NJ Inspection where I live is complicated and I don't want to mess with the emissions
nice sound i have an 02 cherokee 4L i have a thrush glasspack on it and i never could get tire with that sound it also has a few other high performance parts on and its extreamly loud
Originally purchased the 2.5" Gibson Stainless Steel Catback. Ultimately got tired of the sound, then switched out the Gibson Muffler for the Flowmaster Super 40 Muffler. Obviously, the Banks Header made a difference as well.
i thought the gibson exhaust is all welded, did u have to cut off their muffler to put the Flowmaster Super 40-Series Muffler on? or am i wrong and it is easily detached. I am wondering cuz i wanted to do the same thing to my 00' jeep cherokee sport, im getting a 4.5" lift on it soon and i wanted it to sound as beastly as its gonna look
Mine sounds identical to yours at idle and low rpms and all I have on mine is an Original 40 which I bought off CL for $30. Everything else exhaust wise is stock.
But I could get a good set of headers and it'd sound identical. Nice set up man! Sounds great!! Wish I had the money to spend on a nice exhaust set up.. haha
love the sound, mine is not as deep as yours but i have the factory header. who is that at the end of the vid walking towards the drivers door? looks like a cop.
hey i have right now a 1992 jeep cherokee laredo. i woul like to know what all you did to your jeep and how much it cost. if you could send back a message i would be very grateful. and dude that is the sickest 4.0 i ever heard
hey i have a 2001 jeep cherokee 4.0.how much did it all cost cause i wanna make it sound the exact same.......and to think about it..thats a I-6 4.0..thats a beast!
i have a 2001 cherokee 4.0...and it has a flowmaster straight pipe..i want my jeep to sound exactly like this..how much did it all cost?...that sounds crazy for an I-6
does it have a catalytic converter? i have a 97 and want to put on a 40 series but my shitty cat converters must have some broken baffles becasue it rattles and im thinkin bout ditching the converter and goin with straight flowmaster
wish i had the 4L... all i have is a 2.5L 97 cherokee lol. Though i just put a new OEM Coil, Iridium spark plugs, and Bosh Wires.... oh wait... thats my work vehicle lol. I have a Rx-7 FD twin turbo want to race?
Sorry to bother you I just misunderstood. I am about to buy a 2000 sort 4x4 model. What mods do you recommend? I want to lift it but I don't want to sacrifice street ability. Also for power mods , what do you recommend?
TB Space does something barely though, I think it dyno'd something around 2hp @ 5250 RPM and .5 MPG. Helical atomization is just a BS gimmick, you are delusional if you can feel a large SOTP increase from that. Our engines are great but saying they are really responsive to mods is laughable. LS1's are respnosive considering going from just a Y setup to an X or H pipe gives around 30 HP thats reponsive we don't even gain that much with headers...
you guys are soft. It's a well known fact that 4.0 can accept the right mods and increase reliability, AND that from the factory, it is in a low state of tune, running lean and hot for power and flow, instead of having 4 valves per cylinder. It's a fact that it comes in a low state of tune, and is easy to make small block power from it with the RIGHT mods, not what you ass-clowns consider mods. you can't throw a helix on a jeep, and shouldnt on anything. You need a hesco or dead smooth
You really are a "shitbag". Who in the hell said that the 4.0L isn't responsive to mods? We literally stated that a TB Spacer, as a mod itself, does minimal, if anything, to increase performance. Read your last comment. YOU were ranting about the TB Spacer and how that "mod" makes you feel the performance through the pedals. haha you're the ass clown. I'm approving your comments to show everyone you type with your ass and not with your head.
do a rustys throttle body spacer and and air tube with a new muffler and you can feel the difference trust me i got about 10 horse increase from it all for under 200 bucks
saying a throttle body spacer does nothing is an insult to this motor, and its super ability to accept mods and perform more, jesus man, u need to go to church, the jeep gods are not liking you
I'll say it AGAIN. A TB Spacer does NOTHING. Tell me, what good does a Spacer do on a stock TB? Please answer that. I've been part of the Jeep community probably longer than you have been alive. I am a Jeep God and I frown upon your senseless comment...
saying that a throttle body spacer does nothing is one of the worst things I have ever heard,an true insult to a Jeep. the str8six, loves a spacer, and a flowbench proves it,if you couldnt feel it in the pedal if u got one, u should never drive a jeep anyways
hey this is a dumb question i think i know the answer but is that a V8 or I6? Because i have a 2000 jeep cherokee Inline 6 and i am looking for exhausts that can give me as close to a muscly sound on my jeep, since i have no V8s only my I6 Cherokee and my moms V6 van. I plan on buying a V8 for my next car though, and eventually a 77 Trans Am. if you could help solve this better exhaust problem it would sure mean a lot to me. thanks.
Thats what i thought a couple of people said Jeeps that were like 2000, 97, 98, etc. came as a V8 but i didnt think so. also nice exhaust did you do anything else to the car to give it that sound, or just putting an aftermarket exhaust on? If so, please let me know what u changed cause i might buy this for my I6 cherokee too its a nice pipe.
Now I need money...

Awesome! I have the same exact Jeep, color and everything. I hope my Flowmaster 40 sounds as good when its all broken in.
swkavin 2 years ago
does it have a catalytic converter? i have a 97 and want to put on a 40 series but my shitty cat converters must have some broken baffles becasue it rattles and im thinkin bout ditching the converter and goin with straight flowmaster

This sir, is being marked as one of my favorites. How many miles are on the engine?
4x4forlyfe 2 years ago
Thank you!
She currently has 30,764 miles on the odo. Not bad for a 9-year old Jeep
Ghetto2315 2 years ago
Wow, that's awesome for a 9 year old Jeep, no doubt. Do you have a CarDomain page perhaps?
4x4forlyfe 2 years ago
Yeah I do, but for some reason YouTube won't let me post it...

Nice, I just got a 99 Cherokee Sport and plan on doing the exhaust on it. Just to get a little more power and maybe a few more MPG.

i fucking love the rattle sound..exhaust !! rrallrarlal thats the flowmaster 40???
ariira20 2 years ago
Yes Sir... and Thank you
Ghetto2315 2 years ago
This might sound ignorant but are you running both gibson and a flowmaster mufflers?
americanfender 2 years ago
lol no, just the Flowmaster
Ghetto2315 2 years ago
Sorry to bother you I just misunderstood. I am about to buy a 2000 sort 4x4 model. What mods do you recommend? I want to lift it but I don't want to sacrifice street ability. Also for power mods , what do you recommend?
americanfender 2 years ago
TB Space does something barely though, I think it dyno'd something around 2hp @ 5250 RPM and .5 MPG. Helical atomization is just a BS gimmick, you are delusional if you can feel a large SOTP increase from that. Our engines are great but saying they are really responsive to mods is laughable. LS1's are respnosive considering going from just a Y setup to an X or H pipe gives around 30 HP thats reponsive we don't even gain that much with headers...
PowerTripXT 2 years ago
I've seen dyno results with barely a HP increase, but my point exactly... "you are delusional if you can feel a large SOTP increase from that."
Ghetto2315 2 years ago
you guys are soft. You need a hesco or dead smooth
shitbag139 2 years ago
You really are a "shitbag". Who in the hell said that the 4.0L isn't responsive to mods? We literally stated that a TB Spacer, as a mod itself, does minimal, if anything, to increase performance. Read your last comment. YOU were ranting about the TB Spacer and how that "mod" makes you feel the performance through the pedals. haha you're the ass clown. I'm approving your comments to show everyone you type with your ass and not with your head.
Ghetto2315 2 years ago
do a rustys throttle body spacer and and air tube with a new muffler and you can feel the difference trust me i got about 10 horse increase from it all for under 200 bucks
quailman8760 2 years ago
I just bought the rusty's performance pkg. waiting for delivery......
garfield12291 2 years ago
toull be happy with it man i put that on mine nice sound better mileage the the throttle body spacer makes a cool whooshy niose lol
bt12324 2 years ago
30 hp from a x or h setup ?!!!!! i actually LOST POWER when i did that,
saabturboauto 2 years ago
saying a throttle body spacer does nothing is an insult to this motor, and its super ability to accept mods and perform more, jesus man, u need to go to church, the jeep gods are not liking you
shitbag139 2 years ago
I'll say it AGAIN. A TB Spacer does NOTHING. Tell me, what good does a Spacer do on a stock TB? Please answer that. I've been part of the Jeep community probably longer than you have been alive. I am a Jeep God and I frown upon your senseless comment...
Ghetto2315 2 years ago
saying that a throttle body spacer does nothing is one of the worst things I have ever heard,an true insult to a Jeep. the str8six, loves a spacer, and a flowbench proves it,if you couldnt feel it in the pedal if u got one, u should never drive a jeep anyways
shitbag139 2 years ago
Your username is very fitting...
Ghetto2315 2 years ago
hey this is a dumb question i think i know the answer but is that a V8 or I6? Because i have a 2000 jeep cherokee Inline 6 and i am looking for exhausts that can give me as close to a muscly sound on my jeep, since i have no V8s only my I6 Cherokee and my moms V6 van. I plan on buying a V8 for my next car though, and eventually a 77 Trans Am. if you could help solve this better exhaust problem it would sure mean a lot to me. thanks.
birdman802 2 years ago
No Jeep Cherokee (XJ) came with a V8, thus mine is a I-6 4.0L. A 2.5L 4-Banger was available on XJ's as well, but not many.
Ghetto2315 2 years ago
Thats what i thought a couple of people said Jeeps that were like 2000, 97, 98, etc. came as a V8 but i didnt think so. also nice exhaust did you do anything else to the car to give it that sound, or just putting an aftermarket exhaust on? If so, please let me know what u changed cause i might buy this for my I6 cherokee too its a nice pipe.
birdman802 2 years ago
i found this exhaust for 74 bucks!! awesome.
