Revolutionary Etude , was in Paris after the fall of the November Uprising in Poland, when Chopin was in exile and had to leave their homeland. The most terrible events in Polish history when it was not independent and the whole Polish nation fought the tsarist regime, the sovereignty :(
I came to this video from a reference in the biography of salsa singer Richie Ray, whose hit Sonido Bestial (popular salsa song from 1970s) contains a part on piano based in this Etude.
I remember listening to this when I was very very young and it would stay with me in my dreams. The night was hauntingly beautiful yet full of subtle power and I always played with red and indigo chesspieces.
A decade passed since the dreams disappeared and now I listen to this again.
I don't care about the title given, to me this was the lulluby.
Chopin wrote this song because right after he came from Poland to Paris, Poles start November Uprising (they wanted to free they country from Russia). He was so mad because he couldn't come back to fight with friends and he wrote this etude.
I believe its Poland, not 100% sure on that but yeah I believe it was written during the time Poland was undergoing a revolution itself and since Chopin was weak he used his music to influence people
I have been looking and looking for this song, but I couldnt remember what it was called!! So many Chopin songs to sort through!! Very much my favorite!!

I get (and hold your breath)...
Men plotting and rallying for-- get this-- a revolution.
It's got a very strong... well, revolutionary feel. As I understand it he wrote it when Spain was undergoing many revolution outbreaks.

I can often see under Chopin movies that comments written in Polish are thumb down... :/
If someone hates Poles then dont listen to music of Fryderyk Chopen!
Thumbs up friend :)

It could just be that they didn't like what they were saying in Polish: not that they didn't like it being in Polish.

It's indeed extremely hard. I used to know how to play it...Well sort of...Chopin is definitely my favorite composer on a piano. With Beethoven.

Chopin composed 24 (+3) "Etudes". 12 pieces for Opus 12 and 12 pieces for Opus 25 :) You will be able to find them easily.
