I think the problem was a mixure of things: the acustics, and all the different conductors/drum majors, attempting to keep up with the main director. Light may travel faster than sound, but there is a delay in sight nonetheless (i.e. it takes 8 mins for light to travel to earth from the sun). The only idea I could think of to pull this off better would be to have all the different directors/drum majors have head phones listening to one metronome. But I love the IDEA of unity.
