this boat is a little top heacy but it proved its self when it towed a disabled 15lb rc yacht across a 80 yard pond with its crane very good for the money. Also the aquacraft harbour tug is the best rc tug i have out of 3 or 4 diffrent ones.
I have to eat my words, I guess. Just a few months old and mine has by now already had it--done. The steering servo arm disconnected up (well) inside to the rudder, and there's no way to get into the thing and reattach it. The deck and hull are of a one piece, forever and ever, design. No steering now. I can't ;forgive' Dickie for that; even a nice looking $ 50-60 boat isn't worth even five or six for failing to turn L or R that soon out of the box (right ?!) It was too young to die.
It does work, as is. Of course it requires modifications to perform better. That's part of the fun, IMO--the challenge. It costs just $ 60, so you have to be forgiving !
I use mine to recover stalled boats that cost alot more. For this added cost of $ 100 you speak of, you can buy a Hobby Engine Southampton tug--a fine RTR boat, from online dealers in the UK.
this boat doesnt work out the box. you have to change motor, receiver, transmitter, speed controller, and servo. ($100) I made the conversion and it's in My Videos. Check it out.

you can sell it ebay or you can put in $50-70 worth of rc electronics into it and make it work again.
modelboatmayhem-dot-co-dot-uk/forum has many threads about how people convert this boats.
