  • i had all Buffy's albums and went to her concerts whenever she was near where i was at the time, she was an amazing artist and ahead of her time. Time magazine had a cover saying God is dead at this time... brings back oh so many memories..thank you for the postings

  • If you have the time and space, listen to this loud... really loud. Try it while you're driving on a winding road like Lincoln Drive or King Drive in Philly.................

  • I have the "Illuminations" cd. Absolutely love it!!! The perfect mix of folk, rock and psycedelic with songs that are perfect for meditation.

  • the artwork on this video is very incredible- are you the artist- Buffy sings this so so well- thank you

  • One of the truly great anthems of the 1960s! Keep hope alive! Increase the peace!

  • This video is truly wakan - holy/magical...reminds us to dream anew...

  • Buffy lived in the town my parents moved to when I was 13. She also spent time with her grandfather in the town I currently live in. This song moved me many years ago and still does.

  • God created Science so that man would understand the inner workings of life and stand in awe of the divinity found in nature.

  • @ArtsAlign God did not create Science. Man created Science in an attempt to understand what moves the Universe.

  • @Jesuisquejesuis actually, you could say that science is god. science is magic put into logic. magic is science. god is science.

  • @antixkelz Hmmm. I always thought Magic was created through accessing higher realms of thought and forcing certain results through the power of conscious will. I never associated the Great Spirit with Magic. I also never really liked Leonard Cohen, but I love this song and the way Buffy does it. Never say never.

  • God created polio, science cured it. God created small-pox, science cured it. God created leprosy, science cured it. God created 2 million illnesses, virusses, parasites, science found cures for many. God created infertility, science created in-vitro, and an estimated 15 million lives. 100.000 innocent children died a horrible death, beneath the rubble of their houses in Haiti. The allmighty didn``t lift a finger to help. Glory to god !!!

  • @lizazoon Only a fool would believe what you have written. Let go of that image of God sitting on a throne and moving us around like little chess pieces. It is primitive. Expand your consciousness and then perhaps you will understand that this mortal life is just one state of being, and we move on from this into other state.

  • @lizazoon catholic church,murdered what 150-200 million,hitler 30 million,ect GOD ALRIGHT,it ain't GOD, IGNORANCE,INSANE BELIEF'S nietsche said, "your god is dead",meaning,THE OLD TESTAMENT,EVIL,STUPID DEAD GOD"we will ALL BECOME SPIRIT SOMEDAY,EVEN YOU,,can't escape it,BELIEVE THERE IS NOTHING AFTER,who cares,you'll find out,A SEED MUST DIE,TO BE REBORN,

  • beautiful job!

  • i will love you forever buffy !

  • magic is the parallels, the synchronicity. magic is the beauty in this. magic is all in the human mind. but many minds, and lasting over the secrets of time.

  • I first heard this song in 1969. It still resonates deeply with me today.

  • Bellissimo video!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love this video! ALL THE MAGIC PASSING THROUGH!

  • Thanks... still in love with this song after all these years.. and the visuals are a very fine accompaniment.

  • just reconnecting with this song after so much time... still validates my own personal source of magic...nothing to do with God after all this time!

  • Gewajega, you made an excellent video... and the song is simply...no words left.

  • Leonard cohen was Jewish, not a Christian. I guess if you want it to be a gospel song, you can make it personally a gospel song for you, but I don't know if the writer meant it that way.

  • @abdurrahimbhai You're right He was a Jewish, also spent several years in Zen Buddhist (non Christian) But what for him is MAGIC, For Christians is "MIRACLES" and for scientists is "Paranormal" If you look in the lifes of the Saints (for a start) all the Magic, Miracles, paranormal activities, among others; One gets the point!

  • Best Gospel song ever!

  • Magic never faltered, magic always led!!! The Holy Spirit is here, now and available... I love the representation of the 'Trinity' at the end..... Father/Son/Holy Spirit portrayed as the Chief, the brave and the eagle..... wondrous.... and Leonard Cohen, what a writer!!!!

  • This is among the many records I have for sale here in Paris, France. I enjoyed turning my French spouse on to this. A good Leonard Cohen song, sung by this great native American vocalist.

  • @slobomotion French are full of themselves, sorry i just have to say it.

  • @christianz2010 Heard.

  • @slobomotion heard?

  • @christianz2010 Heard ya.

  • @slobomotion ok

  • I play this each evening before I go to sleep - grin. It and the magic is with me all of the time!

  • Magic...everywhere...in every rock and tree, in every thing that walks and crawls all that it wants is respect and a little gratitude and then we FEEL the magic. That's where God is. In the resonating center, in the feeling of gratitude and connection. And so...everything is magic if we choose to feel it. Buffy St Marie was a trailsetter in the mainstream world. She led the way home.

  • Magic loves the poor.

  • names of the Great Spirit are a bit like legs on a bull in a china-shop. you have god, yahweh, allah, the great spirit; a bull and a lot of broken crockery.

  • This song still carries powerful resonance after all these years...

  • My mom bought this album at a yard sale for 25 cents years ago and I grew up listening to it... Lucky me!

  • I was just thinking of doing a slide show, to this, one of my favorite things from back in the day. One of the most amazing things I've ever heard. Then I found YOU. Lovely, lovely, lovely... thank you for the work.

    Snaps

  • Thank you so much for posting this--I can't find my record, and it is one of those things from the 60's that has enduring value. I hope it never dies (either!)

  • I was in my teens when I heard this song, this wonderful singer that is Buffy Sainte-Marie. She sings Cohen's song with the authority of mystic/prophet. She builds up to that wonderful Dionysian ecstasy at the end with the illuminations of time/clocks. "Though alters built in parliaments, they couldn't order men"--this passes all jealousy tests. Thanks, Buffy and Leonard, for helping "dance the rainbow."

  • yep

  • I heard this song at someone's house in 1975 for the first time. I never forgot it. Leonard Cohen is a genius. Buffy is a true artist. There is nothing else to say after this song. Perfect to meditate on.

  • @sharonmtvharrison Very definately a perfect meditation song.

  • Thank you so very much ......!!!!

  • This is done very well. The artwork is beautiful. And of course the song is very powerful.

  • Always loved this song. Good visuals. Thank you for posting. Greetings from a dropout in Paris, France.

  • Truly amazing video. The perfect compliment to the song.
