Really cannot banked on the unemployment numbers the government is providing us...the entire equation for calculating unemployment is flawed. I'm with Peter Schiff on the issue of allowing Americans to purchase their own unemployment insurance. Imagine working for 20-30 years and the U.S. and once unemployed the government provides you with 6-12 months of a percentage of your wages. Oh you have to BEG for an extension. What a scam!
America is a fucked up place. Politicians boast about "helping" ( killing, massacaring, destroying) poor countries, but they can not help their own people. U americans should wake up and fuck up ur politicians. Because of them you are living in a misery.
Another key unemployment/employment rate to consider is the fact that the hiring of temporary workers has fallen 17 consecutive months. One of the early signs that things MAY be improving is an increase in the rate and trend of temporary worker hiring. This figure is considered by economists as a LEADING indicator of furture trends. Even if the rate of decline in Unemployment` slows there are no prospects for those unemployed or under employed to get a good job. U. will be 25-30% by end of 2010.
You are so correct! The US job market is not improving. What appears to be a lower unemployment rate is merely claimants of UI falling off the roster because their funds are exhausted. The emperor is still wearing no clothes....

Big business doesn't control the government. Big business IS the government. How are we going to care for the elderly? I wish I knew that answer. It will get uglier for them alot more than the rest of us when it all falls apart.
That 9.7 does not include the ones who took part time jobs instead or the ones who gave up looking after their benefits ran out. Wall street and the bankers seem to be doing alright.
Many of them will be left to die. Those Americans who are people of character will take care of their families, no matter what it takes. But you'll see a lot of Americans with no character who will cruelly just reject their parents and let them die in pain and agony. I think you're going to see human nature laid bare in the next few years. Good BlogTV chat by the way, but it wasn't long enough. You need to stay on for more than just 1 hour and talk more about substance.
Years ago my Uncle Leo was married to Sarah and she had a sister Joan. Joans husband died and she moved in with Leo and Sarah and lived with them for the next 28 years. In my family we take care of each other. If someone is sick we check in on them and see that they have food, help, medicine, or a ride to the doctor. The same goes for our friends and neighbors. Government is never around when someone I know is born, or buried. End of story.
I want to be a Gerontological soc. worker. Job outlook . good. We better not treat any worse than we already do. Elderly means older and wiser in many ways. Take care of your MOMS .MEN.Mostly women take care of the elderly.

The big question is, can a centrally controlled economy function even with high speed communication and computers involved. Meaning can enough people be sedated with a barely mediocre existence such that they don't rise up against the corrupt controllers?
I think the answer is no. The free market cannot be suppressed forever.
The reason Social Security is going under is Reagan raped it to balance the budget. Every president since has done his part to rape it. It was meant for one thing and one thing only. If they left it alone, their would be plenty of money left. They (politicans) are thieves and need a bullet. They can serve one term and get 250,000 for the rest of their lives. That is where we should take the money from. And they don't pay into the fund. 99 % of them are SCUMBAGS 545 x 250,000 do the math
The problem with the elderly is a dysfunction of the "nuclear family" and the "extended family". In many parts of the world it is expected that one of the children will take in the parents and take care of them and maybe even live with other family members. We rely far to much on our govt to take care of our own family members when they are elderly or sick. We must embrace and cherish our older relatives especially in a culture that lives on disposable goods. These are people, not things!
>Unfortunately, they will not, because it is a ponzi.
Exactly. And if newer young people pay into SS (when what they're really doing is paying back older people who have paid in all their lives), these NEW young people are owed THEIR retirement funds. It's impossible to get out of this trap without someone getting a raw deal.
So... I volunteer to sacrifice the SS money I've paid in so far on the condition I won't have to pay any more in, or my children. End the cycle now.
My recently widowed mother is penniless. They bought a good personal insurance plan years and years ago, but it didn't cover prescription drugs. To some extent, it's their fault -- cigs and booze did 'em in. Now, I'll trash my own savings to keep her alive, with very mixed feelings -- she threw me out when I was 18, and I've been on my own ever since except to reappear and bail their drunken butts out . . .
My dad did the same thing after being thrown into an orphanage, took care of the drunks, but I did learn something from it. My advice, keep buying the cigs and booze, its keeps them sedated. Save your money.
In my country politicians aren't allowed to get campaign contributions. The state provides all political parties with an equal amount of money that they can use for their campaigns.
But, the same people always get elected, because they have connections with the media and get on all the interviews etc. while new candidates rarely have any significant exposure.
The way the country is going is not sustainable. There is no real answer to the baby boomer question I think. We've overspent too much already. While I respect my elders, they have and we have borrowed money from the next generations and to me that is just wrong.
If you agree the government is corrupt, politicians are selling their votes, we're mired in endless wars, ridiculous control of fiat currency money supply, declining real wages, rampant poverty, endless taxes and government red tape, socialism bordering on fascism...
Why exactly do you say it is good news if Canada creates 27000 new jobs?
Good news is when this whole thing goes to shit. Increasing unemployment is good news.
I don't have much respect for the baby boomers, most overspent, over borrowed and didn't save one penny for retirement. Not to mention the baby boomers are the generation that started the massive divorce trend and broke down the family unit. So what does that leave? Penniless old people whom have no wife or husband and no children who'll take care of them. It's always been the family unit that took care of elderly, with that gone expect shit to hit the fan.
In eskimo culture the old people who couldn't pull their weight would voluntarily go off out on the ice and freeze to death rather than be a burden to their families.
I don't mind elderly people. What bothers me is baby boomers who think they can screw up their whole life and then expect to be taken care of. Elderly people should be a sign of wisdom. Baby boomers are no role models, I hope they enjoy eating catfood out of a can.
From the people who brought you divorce, credit cards, debt, the loss of the manufacturing base, ect. They now expect young people to thank them? And take care of them? Ridiculous. They don't deserve the "elderly" title.
I like that image myself, I've said the same thing. "My best advice to old people living on social security is learn to like cat food."
I just look at myself. I imagine my own children struggling to get by, to raise their own families. I'd die rather than be a burden to them. Yet the baby boomers don't think this way. It's always, "ME ME ME!" Such ones are not worth saving.
I love dashxdr;s point of view. Same here with people over 50 for me majorly. No one likes to be so generalist, but the boomers are the main culprits for the perpetuation of this collapse generation wise. Alas there are bigger instruments at work than the insatiable masses being unleashed on the productive components of society...disgusting...delusional...ditto.
Dash- Do you suppose the old "eskimo" people always left voluntarily?
In the Inuit culture, in times of hardship/famine the adults would also hang their children- kids can't pull their weight either.
You blame boomers? What I see are the millions of 20-and 30- somethings who maxed out credit cards, took out massive college loans, bought too much house and new cars and are declaring bankruptcy.
I hope this trend continues. Excessive credit will bring the whole fiat currency / Federal Reserve / corrupt government US empire experiment down. I applaud young people milking the system this way. Bravo!
My parents are baby boomers. They are disgusting people. Everyone lately over 65 I've talked to is hopelessly delusional. The world will be better off without them.
The depth of my disgust for that sort of people is limitless.
the main driving force for monetary inflation in the US occurred during the 50's through the 80's ...by the time the current 20-30 year olds of today got into the mix they were forced to participate in a destroyed system with propaganda at every corner declaring " get that American dream!" deregulation (allowed by baby boomer captains of industry ) have allowed massive NINJA loans and leveraging of fake assets that have brought us to the present situation.
Fine. So go work, earn money, and give it to the soon to be starving old people.
Or do you actually support the theft of wealth at gunpoint in order so you can feel good about yourself? Taxing the productive to support special interests?
I don't support harming anyone. You evidently consider it harm if I don't willingly slave for someone else. Shove your morals, they're sick and poorly thought out.
In response to your question... The younger generation has to start taking responsibility for their parents and grandparents when they are in their final years. This is the way it was before nursing homes, social security and all these artificial systems made us think that someone else was supposed to take this responsibility. Poverty draws families closer together. If you spend some time in Mexico you will see what I mean.
Were at 9.7 and its going to get worse, it is funny how the government uses these stat numbers like were actually making progress.. guess I should start making my bug out kit.
One thing that we should probably do is rethink the concept of retirement. Pensions are not necessarily a bad thing, but I think that too many people assume that you just stop being productive after you reach a certain age. Even an 80 year old can learn to use a computer.
Great video! Thank you for not blowing out my speakers with the loud music! The collapse is coming .. the elderly living in poverty will only increase. Sad to say!

It is ONLY when the 'SYSTEM' EVENTUALLY COLLAPSES.
That the power's that be will be forced to face the consequences of their action (all the lying they have previously done).
At which point every-one (even the elderly) will be forced to fend for themselves.
It will be DOG eat DOG (chaos) for a while.

All ponzi schemes inevetably end in collapse. Someone has to lose out. That's just too f***ing bad, isn't it.
dashxdr 2 years ago
It's a ponzi scheme. Anyone depending on the government to take care of them is delusional.
However, the people who paid into social security should get there money.
Unfortunately, they will not, because it is a ponzi.
DEMCAD 2 years ago
>Unfortunately, they will not, because it is a ponzi.
Exactly. And if newer young people pay into SS (when what they're really doing is paying back older people who have paid in all their lives), these NEW young people are owed THEIR retirement funds. It's impossible to get out of this trap without someone getting a raw deal.
So... I volunteer to sacrifice the SS money I've paid in so far on the condition I won't have to pay any more in, or my children. End the cycle now.

I know a lot of people in that situation, D A. Others are on 20% pay cuts or reduced hours.

My recently widowed mother is penniless. They bought a good personal insurance plan years and years ago, but it didn't cover prescription drugs. To some extent, it's their fault -- cigs and booze did 'em in. Now, I'll trash my own savings to keep her alive, with very mixed feelings -- she threw me out when I was 18, and I've been on my own ever since except to reappear and bail their drunken butts out . . .
slobomotion 2 years ago
My dad did the same thing after being thrown into an orphanage, took care of the drunks, but I did learn something from it. My advice, keep buying the cigs and booze, its keeps them sedated. Save your money.

In my country politicians aren't allowed to get campaign contributions. The state provides all political parties with an equal amount of money that they can use for their campaigns.
But, the same people always get elected, because they have connections with the media and get on all the interviews etc. while new candidates rarely have any significant exposure.

The thought of my baby boomer mum moving in when she gets old sends shivers down my spine, but it's the right thing to do.
I wish boomers were more bloody responsible though!
I blame all the de-industrialisation of UK on boomers.
Crime has gone through the roof, because of baby boomers soft approach.
They sold everything off for a fast buck. Now thier kids have to pick up the pieces.
And they can't drive properly.
stuntpea 2 years ago
The problem is not the boomers, it was the hands they were dealt with by the people in charge.
Ghaztoir 2 years ago

Increasing unemployment is good news.
dashxdr 2 years ago
I don't have much respect for the baby boomers, most overspent, over borrowed and didn't save one penny for retirement. Not to mention the baby boomers are the generation that started the massive divorce trend and broke down the family unit. So what does that leave? Penniless old people whom have no wife or husband and no children who'll take care of them. It's always been the family unit that took care of elderly, with that gone expect shit to hit the fan.
drealm 2 years ago 2
>I don't have much respect for the baby boomers
Ditto. Actually I despise the baby boomers.
In eskimo culture the old people who couldn't pull their weight would voluntarily go off out on the ice and freeze to death rather than be a burden to their families.
So, old people: Do the honorable thing.
dashxdr 2 years ago
@dashxdr
Ridiculous. They don't deserve the "elderly" title.
drealm 2 years ago
>I hope they enjoy eating catfood out of a can.
I like that image myself, I've said the same thing. "My best advice to old people living on social security is learn to like cat food."
I just look at myself. I imagine my own children struggling to get by, to raise their own families. I'd die rather than be a burden to them. Yet the baby boomers don't think this way. It's always, "ME ME ME!" Such ones are not worth saving.
dashxdr 2 years ago
I love dashxdr;s point of view. Same here with people over 50 for me majorly. No one likes to be so generalist, but the boomers are the main culprits for the perpetuation of this collapse generation wise. Alas there are bigger instruments at work than the insatiable masses being unleashed on the productive components of society...disgusting...delusional...ditto.
bondthewall 2 years ago
Dash- Do you suppose the old "eskimo" people always left voluntarily?
In the Inuit culture, in times of hardship/famine the adults would also hang their children- kids can't pull their weight either.
You blame boomers? What I see are the millions of 20-and 30- somethings who maxed out credit cards, took out massive college loans, bought too much house and new cars and are declaring bankruptcy.
vivaloriflamme 2 years ago 3
>and are declaring bankruptcy.
The depth of my disgust for that sort of people is limitless.
dashxdr 2 years ago
the main driving force for monetary inflation in the US occurred during the 50's through the 80's ...by the time the current 20-30 year olds of today got into the mix they were forced to participate in a destroyed system with propaganda at every corner declaring " get that American dream!" deregulation (allowed by baby boomer captains of industry ) have allowed massive NINJA loans and leveraging of fake assets that have brought us to the present situation.

You mut be very fond of Obamas plans for euthanasia of our elderly.
Many of your comments here are straight up sick, but you take the cake.
You are ONE year short of being a part of the baby boomers. But, by all means, lead the way.
BTW Look up the history of the elderly eskimos again, it really wasn't quite lie that.
Kashmir2000is 2 years ago
>You are ONE year short of being a part of the baby boomers
Yes, and how old are you, might I ask?
You support a parasitic system that guarantees collapse, yet I'm the sick one. Hilarious.
dashxdr 2 years ago
I support valuing all life. Unlike Obama and others such as yourself. Who the hell are you to tell others to die, that they are not worthy of living?
".....parasitic system" You sound like a Rothchild.
As for you lame thumbs down on my comment - whatever.
Done here.
Kashmir2000is 2 years ago
>I support valuing all life.
Shove your morals, they're sick and poorly thought out.
dashxdr 2 years ago
In response to your question... The younger generation has to start taking responsibility for their parents and grandparents when they are in their final years. This is the way it was before nursing homes, social security and all these artificial systems made us think that someone else was supposed to take this responsibility. Poverty draws families closer together. If you spend some time in Mexico you will see what I mean.

One thing that we should probably do is rethink the concept of retirement. Pensions are not necessarily a bad thing, but I think that too many people assume that you just stop being productive after you reach a certain age. Even an 80 year old can learn to use a computer.
