  • you sir are a legend

  • @YeIIowBedwetter gon on amazon and type in poster tack. you see Les use it all the time.

  • hey just a question, with the skaven you painted in the vid, it still looked like the grey colour thats just came out of the box and not primed, or and i going blind lol?

  • @nereon11211 it was primed with khaki krylon camouflage paint.

  • @MinigunStudios which basically means that the primer looks the same as the original colour of the model. check out Les or Buypainted - they use grey primer, and you can't really tell it's actually been primed.

  • @CountVonJokovich On the video you don't really see the difference but the model is actually a bleached bone colour. I've been watching Les and Buypainted for a while now and I've tried the grey primer. It's great for preshading when airbrushing but I don't find it helps when painting with a brush.

  • are you quebecois?

  • @bloodylordQC Yes I am French Canadian.

  • atip for the tail and other rigid places, take abit less than a drybrush and paint with a fast and max distance stroke, then you will fill the area and not the underlining. or use a wash on the tail ;)

  • so all in all i cant paint models. i suck at it.

  • @zerga303 get Les or Nuclealosaur to commission your stuff. You've hopefully seen their channels and results :-)

  • cant do teeth and eyes either

  • i cannot at all paint skin and cloths while leaving the darker color in the recesses ( sorry if i spelled that wrong) without messing up badly and having to start over agian. help me.

  • Hi! great lookin skaven! what other primer could be used to achieve same results?

a white one, or a "bone coloured" one? (as its not possible to get the one u used in my area) thank you.

  • @Gorkundmork84 A bone colored primer should do the trick. The point of using a colored primer other than white or black is to save a step in the painting process.

  • @MinigunStudios thank u very much. i´ll try it next week :-)

  • @MinigunStudios can you do a how to paint slave or tell me if when doing a slave should i do it the same cloth colour as my clanrat thanx james

  • I finally bought menoth white base. and i found out instead of using bleached bone as a highlight you can just use menoth white highlight.

  • @YeIIowBedwetter I'm sorry, I'm not sure I understand the question, the video is prety self explanatory.

  • @YeIIowBedwetter The BB paint is a P3 paint that you can buy at any good hobby shop. The spray i use is to have a good base for the skin, fur an robes. For the robes you just have to basecoat them with a different color.

  • @YeIIowBedwetter I use blue tack.

  • Thanks so much!!!! Loads of help! My friend will thank me for this!

  • So is Menoth White whiter or darker than BB or is it the same?

  • @MrRabidCat it is slightly darker than BB.

  • can you show us a miniature with bleached bone instead of menoth white base because I want to see the comparison?

    Thanks

    MrRabidCat

  • @MrRabidCat I wont do a tutorial using Bleached Bone because I don't buy this color anymore. Menoth White base is the same shade and heavier in pigments so it's way easier to work with than bleached bone. Sorry.

  • you can get the inks from blackhatminiatures.co.uk (or coatdarms.co.uk)

  • excuse me for suonding like a noob (wich i am in warhammer), but whats highlighting?

  • @Viktor0Gman it's a painting technique that replicates reflections of light on objects.

  • @Viktor0Gman depends. HARDLINE HIGHLIGHTING is where you rub the side of your brush against the sharp corners of armour (this works best on a space marine) which creates a really fine line of lighter paint, to make the edges 'pop'. CLOTH HIGHLIGHTING is usually done in stages, using 2 or 3 colours, and you paint on a layer of lighter paint, leaving the basecoat showing in the recesses, then go over it again, leaving the first highlight showing. in this case, he's using CLOTH HIGHLIGHTING.

  • mam takie pytanie czy przed nałożeniem washesa np na "twarz" skavena został na niąnałozony jakiś podkład ?

  • @mhroq I'm sorry man, I only speak english or french. I don't understand polish.

  • ok :] do u use some foundation before u paint head and hands ? (sry i see similar movies like this in polish):]

  • @mhroq Tallarn flesh

  • I know this is probbly a stupid question but could someone tell me what the green mat on the table at the start is called and where its from? i've been meaning to get one for a while, if someone could tell me i'd be most grateful :)

  • @WarHammer40kWorld Its called a self healing cutting mat and you can find one in any good artist supply store.

  • @MinigunStudios Thanks, i found out a few days ago and bought one but thanks anyway for telling :)

  • @WarHammer40kWorld go on amazon and type in 'cutting mat'.

  • Finally a nice clear tutorial! Great job, thnx, will sure use it and help me out.

  • XD to loub the paint.........still this is a good toturial

  • @mcworker17

for the plastic guard i generally dont basecoat-its quicker and you dont lose much quality. basecoat the metal models chaos black though.

  • gotta question is it better to use games workshop paint as a primer or do i get the same results from using a krylon paint? any help would be great thanks

  • @mcworker17 GW primer will do fine, in fact any primer will do. It's just the way you use it that makes a difference. I hope this helps.

  • @MinigunStudios thanks for the help ima try a krylon primer but i got another question i am new to warhammer and warhammer 40k and i was wondering what would be a good primer color for some imperial guard troops that i am coloring green? u think black will work or would brown be better? any help would be great thanks

  • @mcworker17 Krylon makes an Olive green color in their camouflage range, you should try it. If not, I would use the black primer.

  • @mcworker17 A company called The Army Painter have a range of coloured primers which are fantastic to work with. They do a few greens and greys which I have used for my commission painting with Guard models.

  • An easy way for the fist highlight of the tail is drybrushing the tallarn flesh on.

  • but i from poland and i cant know wath you say.

  • He could mention all colors with GWshop

  • Love the green, glowing eye. Might have to copy the effect.......

  • qwill you do more vids with different colour schemes?

  • @youngandwild1969 I don't plan to do different color schemes right now because I'm just doing these tutorial to show how I paint my army and not to show how to paint different armies and I don't really have any models to spare for different tutorials.

  • excelente.. muchas gracias.

  • Devlin Mud (Brown Wash) and Ogryn Flesh (Flesh Wash) are probably the nearest equivalent new GW washes.

Great tutorial - I don't envy you for having to paint a 100+, I'm in a similar situation with my Beastmen. Looking forward to more Fantasy mini tutorials.

  • @LepLebooD thanks, great help :)

  • @LepLebooD Beastmen look awesome, after I have tried out painting Skaven I will try out Beastmen.

  • Nice video. I'll have to try some of these techniques on my Skaven I've been building

  • @Agrippaiscariot666 thanks, post a video response of the end result if you can, I would very much like to see that.

  • @MinigunStudios Hey. Ive just got all my Island of Blood set together for skaven and im thinking of making their cloth purple. And then the logo on the sheild Scorpion green. Do you think this would go well with Brown ink???

  • @aziayman Do a test model. That's my suggestion and what I always do. Scorpion green might be a little too bright, maybe try a basecoat of goblin green and highlight it with scorpion green.
