  • help i have a Winchester defender 12 ga when i shoot the gun the shell comes eject before i cock it again any body tell me plzz

  • @Bigmike516 Hey big mike, It's somewhat common with older Winchester Defenders, it's the mag tube spring, it's weak or weakened throwing off the timing for the feeding mechanism. Replace the mag tube spring and you should be in good shape.

  • Interesting that the single barrel shotgun seemed to eject the shell after opening, but the double barrel needed to be jerked back and, down to remove the shells. Why didn't the double barrel have the same type of ejecting device?

  • lol here in nz a gun store owner was demonstrating a pistol to a potential customer, some gang thug came in with a machete demanding guns and ammo, the owner pointed the pistol, unloaded at him, the thug backed off, yet the gun store owner was charged with improper use of a firearms and threatening assault, it took 8 months to get him aquittted

  • Love this guy. He's full of common sense. I'm a Remington 870 fan, myself, But I also own a Winchester 1300 that's easier to shoot and a little lighter. Keep it simple and practice with the one you count on the most.

  • In today’s age of black menacing looking firearms that have become all the rage, the bottom line is exactly what this man’s talking about, “I don’t need a thousand dollar shotgun. I need to know how to run the gun I got.” Priceless information that will hopefully open many eyes to the 40 – 60 dollar garage sale single shot 12 gauge shotguns. I’ve seen guys buy them for next to nothing, reblue them, cut the barrel to 18 ½ inches, and they had a handle little gun for under 50 bucks.

  • Would you consider using gas rifles or air shotgun to train your students?

  • :22

  • Check out the Mossberg 930 for a decent priced Semi auto. The standard defense model goes for $400 in California, you don't need the more expensive SPX model

  • did anyone else notice the shells from the single shot hitting him in the head??

  • omg I love his accent haha! especially 2:40-2:45 hahaha!

  • While you dont need a 1000 dollar shotgun, thanks the maverik and ne firearms you can get a really good one for under 200 bucks.

  • The law says my doberman can't rip the throat out of a burglar. Shame my dog can't read.....

  • @TheMerlin672 your comment made me laugh

  • Great insight on shotguns for self defense.I dont need expensive shotguns I just need to know how to run the gun I got.....priceless!

  • Don't need $1,000 shotgun, need to know to run the one I got!!! AMEN! Best gun for defense....the one in your hands!

  • he talk very fast

  • 0:15

  • :15

  • "I need to know how to run the gun I got," pretty much says it all right there.

  • I liked that fast move backward with the double-barrel coach gun to let inertia throw out the two shells on their own.

  • This guy knows his stuff. Great video. It isn't what you have as much as learning how to use what you have effectively. Those H&R/NEF single-shot shotguns can be found used in many pawn shops for well under $100 (oftentimes half that, yes $50!!!). It will kill you every bit as dead as that $1000 Benelli.

  • 2:33 he taped his tactical light under the barrels :D

  • Thanks for posting this vid. I've seen people with $200 shotguns out shoot people with $25,000 shotguns. Like you said learn how to shoot what you got.

  • i dont need a thousand dollar shotgun! YEAH! this dude is cool

  • I really like this guy. Keep it simple!

  • Don't listen to fake experts claiming how a shotgun has a 3' spread at 5 yards. A shotgun must be skillfully aimed and fired in order to be effective. Take your shotgun to the range with the shells you plan on using and shoot some paper at incremental distances. You will be surprised at how little the shot column actually spreads. That being said. Clint has given us good advise. Be proficient with the gun you have. Shot placement is important. Practice reloading.

  • I think the CASS boys are the experts on running and gunning break barrels. Not just are they fast, but they have it all worked out.

  • double barrel coach gun boys and girls. the shorter the better for max spred.

when you need to fill your hallway with lead except no substitute.

if you can get a sawn off legaly go for it.

think about it how long is my hallway? a sawn off MAY have a 3 foot spred at 5 yards.

    DO I WANT TO MISS?

  • is always nice to listen to Clint Smith

  • About how much is a SEMI-AUTO SHOTGUN

  • @DCN225 The prices for a semi-auto shotgun varry a good deal. You can find a decent one for as low as $200, and as high as $5000. Normaly, a good quality semi-auto is around $400.

  • I have all those shotguns in my house right now... I love the double barrel

  • 'Home Defense', what a great idea, here in the UK, we just have to die for the criminals and become a 'statistic'. They tell us being defenseless to criminals makes us a more 'civilised' society. You know what, that's complete BS. They only want us disarmed so's they can be as corrupt as they like and there's NOTHING we can do. Long live the USAs 2nd Amendment.

  • @999SilverDog Amen brother. Same thing is happening here in Canada. Either our constitutions are terrible (yours made in a monarchy and ours made by a liberal in the 80s), or nobody cares about them.

  • @ishitonallah ours (the english) does have a right to bear arms but most people don't know about it so poloticians don't care and it doesn't say shall not be infringed so as long as you can have some form of weapon its not violating the constitution stupid eh

  • @ishitonallah Amen

  • @999SilverDog Well its the only good thing about the country so don't get too excited.

  • @999SilverDog Right to bear arms brother.:)

  • @999SilverDog Come on over here, you're welcome!

  • @999SilverDog With all the stuff going down across the pond, I hope stuff works out for you guys, through that mess and politically afterwards.

  • @999SilverDog

its ironic ain't it? the whole legal point arises from an old concept of English common law: An Englishman's home is his castle." Obviously giving a terse, Yankee interpretation of Lord Chatham's words:

"The poorest man may in his cottage bid defiance to all the forces of the crown. It may be frail - its roof may shake - the wind may blow through it - the storm may enter - the rain may enter - but the King of England cannot enter."

Here in the US we still hold to it!

  • @grofaz1939 yea man long live the "castle doctrine" where going to get it here in canada hopefully. guy shot he's gun into the ground scareing away people that where trowing makof cocktails at his house shouting that he was going to die and burn.point is people tried to burn the guy alive in his own house and when he fired a few shots to scare them off his charged, firearms tookin away, may go to jail for 5 years , becuase he diden't want to get burned alive. he was a firearm instructer here.

  • @999SilverDog fuck that shit man. Trust me, if you even try to break into someones home in the part of england, we'll

probably beat the shit out of you, put you in a bodybag and throw you down the basemant stairs.

  • @999SilverDog Well said sir. My condolences that you are stuck there in the UK.

  • @999SilverDog

your more then welcome to move here and become a us citizen, then you can own all the guns you want mate.

  • @999SilverDog

The same thing here in France ... God bless America !

  • @999SilverDog

    not only UK ,

    here in AUSTRALIA,

if i dispatch a armed intruder with my kitchen knife, i'm going to jail !

  • I really like how clint shows how to use a single barrel shotgun for home defense.

  • ..."Need to KNOW how to run the gun I've got".

    EXACTLY!

  • I took the Urban Rifle course at Thunder Ranch and highly recommend it. Clint Smith is very practical minded and knows his stuff like few others.

  • 2:40 Preach it Clint.

Fear the man with one gun, he may just know how to use it.

  • DUDE!!! YOUR MORE LIKE CLINT EASTWOOD!!!! :D

  • tazer ?

  • When seconds matter, the police are only minutes away.

  • @jnaggs

When seconds matter, Clint Smith has probably already put 20 or 30 shells through a single-barrel. O_o

  • @jnaggs

  • @brief67 thanks and are home defense shotguns good for hunting too?

  • Can anyone tell wats the difference in a home defense shotgun and hunting shotgun?

  • @jkh301 typically the shotguns marketed for home defense have a shorter barrel for greater manuverability within the confines of a home. Also, they may have a greater capacity

  • @jkh301 Nothing really. 12 Gauge Cylinder bore shotgun (Choke tubes can be changed out on guns equipped for different hunting scenarios)is great for Rabbits and close flushing upland birds. If you train with your hunting gun you will be prepared to hunt or defend your home.

  • Nothing fancy, nothing crazy expensive, just practical and realistic. Great instructor.

  • @midnamechip He does sure know how to get just about any firearm to get the job done. Sure, a nice semi-auto is a better weapon then a single shot, but I do not think I would bother figureing out what kind of shotgun just peppered me from down the hall.

  • "I don't need a $1,000 shotgun, I need to know how to run the gun I've got"

    Nothing else to say..........

  • @sirhcskoorb That's the gospel right there. You could technically defend your house with a semi-auto BB gun, if you are well practiced with it I suppose. What bad guy wants .17" copper bearings hitting their body/face at 700fps? No thanks. God forbid the BB gun wielding homeowner knows how to speed-reload the damned thing. What a nightmare.

  • is it just me or is every else stupid? shotguns have been around since the revolutionary war and still in use thats y they r such a great gun!

  • nice!

  • i have a 16 gauge, single shot sawed off shotgun, i think it would be enougth to defend my house

  • @curseofa5r5a The legal term is sawed down. Sawed off implies length below legal length, 18.5in, in the US at least. But you can saw down a shotgun, say Grandad's old 1887 with a 30in barrel, down to 18.5in

  • @PaleHorseWC2 yeah this one its ilegal in my country any way is just a home defence weapon i ont never leav with it, thanks for the info

  • @daluatube I think we have gotten gun laws in the UK just about right. People with reasons to get guns, get guns, and gun crime is VERY rare. The trouble with saying If everyone else had guns, people with bad intentions with guns wouldn't get far, is that that makes gun crime more common. It also encourages civilians to take the law into thier own hands, which is ver dangerous when it involves guns.

  • i found it

  • @leokingn What cartridge was it, I'm also interested?

  • @TheEnglishRedneck45 its a slug cartridge instead of bullets

  • i want to know what cartridge is that at 0:08 if anyone knows please i'll like to know too

  • @daluatube so you need better police and border control, agreed?

its much harder to kill a bystander with a knife and also easer to defend yourself against a guy with a knife rather than a gun - (though both are potentially lethal, obviously). If I have any real concerns about an intruder I usually take my mountaineering ice axe for a tour of the house, "lawful to act in reasonable self-defence". I also know this would scare the crap out of most intruders.

  • i am not bragging about being british, I don't think that we are anything special. the reason I wrote the first message was just in reaction to the shootings that had just happened here, some cowardly fucks shooting innocent people. its too fucking easy to kill with guns. make them hard to get and those people would still be living and breathing and taking care of their children.

so guns are less effective weapons than knives? statistics don't mean anything? does that make any sense?

  • @9002joe I'm British too :-). If we had an armed population like the USA, Raoul Moat wouldn't have got ten yards without being killed. More gun laws won't stop criminals using them. The truth is the UK is overrun with violent crime and we have no means (or rights) of effective self defence. There's no deterrent."Reasonable Force" is difficult to implement in frightening self/home defence situations and not easy to prove in court. All rights are with the criminals, and our police are useless.

  • @HecterPlasmic Pretty much. Taking weapons from law-abiding citizens just means they are left defenseless for criminals who don't care about laws anyway. I just read an article last week about how easy a certain segment of youth criminals in Britain can get guns.

Regardless of all that, the UK still has a lot of violent crime -- it's just not with guns. Guns are an equalizer. A small woman or whatever has little chance against a large attacker. But a small woman with a gun is different.

  • @daluatube

Per capita means by head of people, i.e. as a percentage of the total. More fatalities because there are more lethal weapons available. I doubt there are many more crazies (as a %) in the US.

If I was in your situation I'd probably have a gun. But i would prefer better police and laws. The next time there is a R. Moat or D. Bird (or wannabe american gangster idot kid) in the UK I would prefer he can't find a gun and uses a knife - they're less effective.

  • @daluatube HELLS YEAH, HES GETTING ALL MILLA JOVOVICH ON IT MMMMAAAAANNNNNN......

  • @daluatube I want to agree with you but if that were true it would mean there were far more bad people in the US than the UK (murder rates much higher per capita)...

    So, which is it?

  • The MASTER!!

  • I LOVE his 870.

Looks like he threw it together with a bunch of mismatched parts.

  • "I need to know how to run the gun I got" - Amen Brother

  • Great Video, in Texas its a law to shoot the invader three times

  • great advice

  • Thanks to american rap videos and all that crap we are getting more and more gun crime in the UK. I don't want to confront aggressive young people on the street anymore or get the police involved because you don't know who is in a gang and who has access to a handgun. Any cowardly idiot can shoot you, guns are really easy to use. I hope things do not end up like in parts of the US where you don't feel safe even in your own home. Sounds like hell!

  • i personally like the pump action shotguns. like the one tht is from the dark knight the banker used.

  • awesome video i have been wanting to get a single or double barrel shotty for my first gun

  • a black 18.5" rem 870 + knoxx stock + mag extention + side saddle + light. The light is essential to have a positive target identification and it blinds the target.

All you have to say is that you thought the burglar was somehow armed.

  • i would rather just open up on theyre legs with a ruger 10-22 with a 30 round mag, the sucker would live through every moment of it and probably never walk again but u would not get charged for killing them

  • @deadtofall666 You'd get sued for it though.

  • i would only ever use one of these in a defence situation to scare the shit out of someone, actually shooting them with a shotgun close range would vapourize them and be instant death for sure and unless they had a gun 2 u would get charged with excessive force for shooting and killing an unarmed person

  • @deadtofall666 Not necessariy. It depends on the situation. One such example is disparity of force. Several guys trying to kill you or rob you if you're alone are a deadly threat even if none of them are armed. You just need to read the laws about deadly force.

  • @deadtofall666 Close range shotgun does not 'vaporize' someone. That's pure Hollywood. And most states look at the circumstances of the incident. There can be justifiable homicide of an unarmed person under certain circumstances. Don't ever EVER bring a gun to bear only to scare someone. Never brandish it unless you're prepared to shoot.

  • @trottheblackdog go out and try shooting a pineapple or watermellon from 10 feet away, the only thing thats left is splatter for a 30 foot radius on either side, that is exactly what would happen to the human head from that far away, that and your asuming i live in the states which i do not, i live in canada and here we have an equal weopons act, your only allowed to shoot if he has a gun too, under no circumstances are u allowed to shoot and kill and unarmed person

  • @deadtofall666 yea. wouldn't want to offend an unarmed rapist or burgler.

  • @deadtofall666 hello i live in texas and if anybody comes in your house their dead everybody knows it and thats why nobody gets their houses robbed at night they wait and make sure nobodys home because they know that the person who shot them has no fear of the law because of the castle doctrine, and also up close it will just put a hole in his head the shot needs 10yrds just to get out of the wad with an improved cyl. bore remy. 870. no vaporization will occur.

  • do you have a bolt action shot gun? Because I saw one of those the other day and thought that would be cool but is it effective?

  • Is that a .410 single shot?

  • @RayThomasFilms ANYONE KNOW IF THATS A .410 Single Shot?

  • bow to this: "I dont need a thousand dollar gun, i need to run the gun i got." spit

  • Remington 1100 with an 8 or 10 round magazine with a M9 beyonette attached oh yeah!

  • that first one is a single shot Harrison And Richardson cheap as chips and sterdy as anything

  • good point! run the gun you have the best it can be used and you will out do a pos criminal

  • he is a real problem-solver.There are a lot of jerks who advise AR and expensive revolvers.

  • And if you look at the side-by-side shotgun, he wont advise an expensive flashlight, he has one duct taped on!

  • you cant really put a rail on a double barrel

  • @BurroBurrito1

    Yes you can.

  • burro-- It has already been done by Stoeger.

  • Duct tape won't work on mars. :p

  • Finally someone with the right mind. haha I was getting tired of hearing "what HIGH END gun can I get for my HD.." blah blah, you can get a fully gold plated M3 race shotgun but if you dont practice with it it will perform just like a single shot shotgun!

  • Great vid......love the shotguns :-)

  • haha this guys awesome

  • Buttoned because of the usual hot brass flying around TR.

  • Yeah sure. Tell that to the mans face. Clint Smith, former Marine, one of the TOP gunfighting instructors in the world. Right after you tell him to unbutton his top button, he'd hand u a good beating, ass fuck you and button your top button. So sit down and STFU.

  • Comment WAS for your stupid ass.

  • the voices in my head.... ;D

  • burglar, rapist, meth head, just generally someone want to hurt you and your family

  • Ukranian miscreants, skinheads, drunk rednecks and gang bangers for me. How about you?

  • @yiblon

    Them

  • handguns are the foundation on learning how to shoot well with any other modern firearm. A mistake with a handgun will be more noticeable then a mistake made with a shotgun or rifle at the same range.

  • LOL, maybe shooting isnt for u. no offense.

  • tell me if my eyes are playing tricks on me but does clint have a flashlight duct taped to the double barrel?

  • I think you are correct. Duct tape and a shotgun Old School to the core.

  • No, its put into the groove between the barrels with a section of inner tube to hold it in place.

  • @secretsquirrell13 Not tape- heavy duty Rubber bands, or cycle inner tube. Lasts much longer.

  • @sbd45acp i'll thumbs up thats fo sho!

  • HOLY MOSES!!!!! I HADN'T NOTICED TOO!!!!

  • ahem to that

  • most people don't know that shotguns some in the same type of actions as rifles

  • Great Advice, Thanks

  • great vid...

you gotta love, the versatility and range of ammo ,one can use in a shotgun....

great for sport shooting ,an an awesome home defense weapon....

  • People will always find ways of hurting each other, taking away guns would only be a false victory until the first person goes into a high school with an axe and kills a few people.. then what? we ban axes all together? Stop, think and get past winning the argument. It's all about constructive debate.

  • People always miss the area of personal accountability and responsibility and they go right to blaming everything on the gun, just like the director of that documentary did. The world will always have guns same as the world will always have people with mental illness and physiological problems. Its up to governments and everyday people to regulate Guns, knives, shovels, cars, buses in intelligent and practical manners.

  • Sure, you have every right to voice you're opinion and tell people that you feel guns are bad but to truly "school" people on any topic, you must do your research and then people will respect your opinion in a debate. The gun issue is not as easy as saying guns are unnecessary and completely stupid. The boys who shot people up at that high school broke something like 22 laws before they even stated shooting that day... I'm not sure another 50 laws would have stopped them.

  • From one Canadian to another seeing as how you seem to prey upon the American culture as a whole for having firearms.

You reference bowling for Columbine so much that I cant help but send you a message in response. Because you watched a documentary on columbine does not mean that you have an educated opinion on the topic.

  • if michael more is your education then hmm I think we should all get educated from other sources. Michael Moore's stuff although well put together and interesting with a few valid points is very curved and biased towards his feelings. video clips and information shows is very selective in order to support his message and overall film. US citzens who own firearms legally are not the ones causing most trouble, it is criminals that get their firearms illegaly using them for bad. Punish criminals.

  • a man using a gun in a tactical way is better than a man with a tactical gun using it in anyway.

  • please ,explain that to me ,you lost me w/ that...

    omegaboostZ.......

  • lol you're better off having a normal shotgun/rifle/handgun and use it in a tactical manner rather than having a gun full of lights, lasers, red dot optic, rails and stuff but using it like a caveman.

you see a lot of people like that which they have tons of accessories on their weapon but they barely know how to use it or they dont even know how to.

  • If it doesn't solve a problem, you don't need it on your gun.

  • true i don't need 3 in magnums i need 31/2 in magnums

  • Wow u all need to get a life dont u realize y we havent been takin over yet no one wants to screw with a country who has weapon to defend there self yea because obama trying to stop are guns well he will get his change when we get invaded u all are so dumbfounded to this issue we need guns to save lives as myself i hunt on a regular basis i find them as a need so in reality because of our guns your free to say that but someday ull wish u had a gun... u will reap this moment... Someday.....

  • I live in Texas. WalMart is a dept store, and most do NOT sell guns (ammunition, yes, but guns no).

Can you tell me which bank will give me a gun? Because I'm going to start banking there.

No liquor store in Texas sells guns.

Where is your proof? Please provide your proof otherwise I will have to assume you are talking out your ass.

  • Wow, just...wow: "If anything its against the law to shoot criminals on your property".

And you have a family? What would you do if you were held at gunpoint while someone raped your wife? Yes, it's a hypothetical. Yes, it's a worst-case scenario. Regardless, it occurs.

  • And wouldn't you know it, right there in the news from yesterday, a ten year old and his sister were at home while their single mother was working, and two men burst through the door. When they chased the two kids into the closet, they were greeted by the business end of the mother's handgun that she kept handy and ready for such possibilities. I think it's safe to say that Dean Favron, Roderick Porter, and their 15 year old escape driver aren't going to be breaking in anywhere anytime soon.

  • It happens more often than that. It's estimated that over 300,000 people are saved per year, thanks to having a firearm at hand. And my $250 Mossberg is still going to be more effective at stopping a criminal, keeping me and mine alive, and still going to be cheaper than anything but the bottom of the barrel DIY stuff, and no monthly charges.

He could know exactly where her gun was, he could disarm her somehow, but that really never actually happens, it's just movie stuff.

  • omfg i dont care. go shoot criminals all u want. don't respond

  • It's not about vigilantism, it's about keeping myself safe at home, and that's it.

  • Man, you're just not going to convince Slyteradon.

What was it that Dave Grossman said in his book "On Combat"? Regarding sheep, wolves, and sheepdogs he said, "The sheep generally do not like the sheepdog. He looks a lot like the wolf. he has fangs and the capacity for violence. Still, the sheepdog disturbs the sheep. He is a constant reminder that there are wolves in the land. They'd rather the sheepdog cash in his fangs." And then the wolf shows up, and the flock desperately hides behind him

  • So true, thanks. I'll have to pick that one up if I can find it.

  • lots of what if''s here. what if the alarm you suggest didn't go off? haha just being funny. My uncle owns an alarm company. A loud siren isnt going to stop anything bad from happening inside or outside a house. Calling to get help form the police is first step in any situation, the average time nation wide for the police to show up is 3-5minutes. a lot can happen in 3-5 minutes in your home our outside the home.

  • The funny thing is is that that's exactly what you're doing. You're just telling me how I'm wrong, and telling yourself that you're right.

The logic is there, if you don't understand it I'd be happy to take it down another rung and try and explain it. If you're not going to prepare for one type of disaster, why would you prepare for any of the rest?

  • If you don't see the logic in that, then you weren't paying attention. Sounds like you just realized you're painted into a corner and want out, though.

  • Just because it's the law doesn't mean it's right. There are places in Europe that have outlawed fire extinguishers. It might be against the laws in your country to defend yourself, but the law here has a little more leeway. Some states in the U.S. have quite a bit more freedom to defend your self and your home.

You obviously aren't familiar with the Constitution, though. It's specific purpose is to allow everyone to bear arms against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

  • god americans are paranoid

  • It's called being prepared. In many places, there's almost no reason to keep a home defense gun, but unfortunately in some places it's reckless not to have one.

Do you keep a fire extinguisher in your home in case of emergencies, or are you going to depend on the fire department to come and rescue you if your house catches fire?

  • i do but that wont end the life of somebody else, the question is will you be prepared to shoot some kid trying to steal your vcr.

  • If he's stealing my VCR, I'd be surprised, I don't even have one. But that aside, I think I could get him to change his mind and clean up his act without having to use lethal force. I'm not going to just burst in there and shoot. However, if he takes offense to me being in my home, and tries to kill me, my odds are far, far better than if I didn't have the gun.

So I'll turn that question to you; if someone broke into your home, what would you do?

  • Well i have alarm force so the alarm would sound as soon as the bastard breaks in alerting neighboors and it would bring me to the directory and they would dispatch the police immediately. now im gonna turn it to you, why would he want to kill you, what're his motives? would you hit on his girlfriend? beat up a hooker? piss on a statue? pretty much the only reason you would need a shotgun for home defense is if you're a wanted criminal or a complete dumbass.

  • That alarm is going to get the police there in a few minutes. I'm assuming you don't have a fire extinguisher, either, since the fire department would come rushing there as soon as your alarm detected fire, or your neighbors called them. But by then, it's going to be too late.

It's the same thing defending yourself. Criminals have no respect for the law, obviously, and more and more common they're elevating home invasions to murder to avoid leaving any witnesses.

    Please hold the ad hominem.

  • again, you avoided my question. why would a criminal break into your home for no reason only to hurt you? r u a criminal? or r u someone who stirs shit up like you're doing right now for no reason but to start a problem? oh and FWI, the alarm enough is to get any criminal out of your house.
