It seems like you could completely cut out the yarn back step if you placed your yarn in front of the work & while holding it there, put your hook through the stitch post & yarn over, pull through. Seems like you could work much faster without the yarn back step because it seems pretty unnecessary. If you try it, please let me know if it works.
StitchDiva has a great solution (actually two) for doing rounds in Tunisian. You can either get a hook with the long floppy thing at the end like with circular knitting needles, or you actually pass your work onto a same-size second needle. I'm pretty sure that's what I saw. I have cold medicine in my brain right now. Anyway, check her out!
I love the Tunisian stitch, but it seems time consuming to make anything bigger than a swatch for me..lol can one make a large project using this stitch or is it mainly for smaller projects? nice work btw...
@scared5hitless, when I learned Tunisian stitch I thought, "oh thank goodness, a faster way to crochet some simple things". I love to crochet even with the smallest needles. The hook I use now is R 17mm. I saw it used on a t.v. show. When I want to take a break I use this hook to make simple quick projects. They have all turned out great. Maybe a larger hook to start could be right for you to. I had to order mine online because they didn't carry the hooks in stores. I hope this helps.
Can I ask, what brand of hook are you using? I have a bamboo tunisian hook but the shape of the hook doesn't really let me grab the yarn the way you do when starting the stitch.
@thecrochetside boye hooks are my favorite! i see a lot of people like to use bamboo hooks but i've never had a problem with boye. nice video - I'm going to use this in the blanket i am making, thanks!
@outragedpalmer - there is a way to work in the round, but because I'm not familiar with it, I find it much easier to work flat then seam it together in the back.
I have spent many frustrating hours trying to figure out some of the basic tunisian stitches. I'm not new to crochet, but could never figure this style. THANK YOU for the videos, I finally "get" it!!! Please keep them coming :)
Thank you so much for these guides of yours. I just finished an entire project in tunisian knit and purl thanks to these videos.

Thank you for sharing that! Could you at some point show us the Tunisian Moss Stitch, too?
I tried to figure it out from the book, and I don't understand it.
Thank you again!

I've got a list of stitches I want to make tutorials for, so I'll keep the moss stitch in mind. Thanks for letting me know you'd like to see it. :)
