  • she is a beautiful dancer and her technique is amazing, but there is no feeling behind the movements. don't get me wrong though she is a fantastic dancer x

  • I hate her face and her shoes O__O

  • Her shoes are nasty but doesn't anyone notice how beautiful her technique is!

  • Her toes are like popping out! How could they let her do that! Not to mention she looks a little like she'd rather not be doing this...

  • emotions? she does the movements but with no life....

  • Her arms would make Balenchine cry. Not with joy.

  • she is so stiff

    no emotion at all

  • @missnephillim1 it's really hard to capture the emotion in swan lake. have you seen ANY decent black/white swan variations on youtube where the dancer truly captures the emotion? i think this is the most common comment on all the swan lake videos :P

  • me gusta mas el ballet ruso!!!

  • Everybody's talking about her dead shoes, LOOK AT HER KNUCKLING!!!

  • Odette is innocence no lazzy and boring

  • where's the innocence of odette! i see... just another flexirina, nothing more. She doesn't has the passion, yeah she has the technique but nothing more. Also the shoes

  • shes not wit the tokyo, shes with the berlin state.

  • I feel nothing from this It would help if she showed emotion while dancing she doesnt even look happy. Also dead shoes....

  • I don't think her shoes are the only dead thing, I mean look at her face

  • nice feett!!

  • You're talking about dead shoes! at first- look at her! she's dead inside! it looks like she doesn't have a soul!

  • i didnt like this Q___Q it was almost flawless , yet no soul, life, passion in it. and her shoes, they're practically dead!? kind of disappointing.

  • is it just me or does none of that look hard?

  • ces pointes sont foutues ....

  • je trouve qu'elle ne transmet aucune emotion !

  • Her dancing is beautiful, but her dead shoes break up the line of her legs.

  • @mokutounooni what is the dead shoes???

  • re hermoso todo pero sonrisaa!!! que cara de murta :D yo cuando bailo cloasico TODO EL TIEMPO SONTRISA... ;)

  • real ballerinas dont need dead pointe shoes to show their amazing feet

  • Undeniable technique, but no life whatsoever. All those years, all that training, and it means absolutely nothing without a soul.

  • gorgeous

  • f*cking A-MA-ZING.

  • is alive??

  • i dont think you should say so roughly that she has no expression or things like that,

when you see ballets live, you will feel something much more compared to ballets on film

  • She would be a good dancer if she wasn't so stiff and robotic. And top of that she is on dead pointe shoes.

  • she's a really good dancer, no, she's amazing. but i think there could be a little bit more emocion.. but lots of respect, she's pretty too! :)

  • brilliant... except for the shoes

  • @Cheerbabeforeverable ESATTO...THE SHOES...ARE TERRIBILI....

  • her pointes looks broken..

  • Is she dancing in dead pointe shoes?

  • @CherryOnTop5000 her shoes dont have a soles any more.

  • @CherryOnTop5000 funny thats about the same thing that came to my mind too...

  • @CherryOnTop5000 She absolutely is. I noticed that almost immediately. How can she? It hurts!

  • @CherryOnTop5000 i know! it doesn't even look good!

  • very nice and light.

  • She doesn't have the right point shoes it looks like she needs a longer vamp because she looks like she sinking in them :$

  • i hate her pointe shoes... on her atleast.

  • she has beautiful technique, though her performance is lacking. also, her pointe shoes are dead, which ruin the lines of her legs. :/

  • she has great technique and is truly an incredible dancer...but the performance is missing. she doesn't use her upper body very much...

  • wow.. she really moves like a swan :-) so perfect. I saw a russian ballerina.. she performed not that perfect..

  • dont hate... she's an amazing dancer!! in many dance companies expression isn't as important to them as technique!! its how she was trained!

  • She has ugly feet for a ballerina

  • I have always had banana feet but this girl has freakn AMAZING feet and an awesome arch!!!!

  • bravssimaa

  • her shoes are incredibly broken

  • I always feel really sorry for the ballerinas at the sides. (I know what they are called I'll probably just spell it wrong, though. xD)

  • How horrible!!!!!!!.....there is not expression, and her points looks so horrible....THIS IS HER 1S SOLO IN SCHOOL?

  • she looks like she has no soul :( more expression!!!!

  • Those pointe shoes in my opinion are so ugly on her.

  • ugh.. her shoes are all i could look at -_-

  • аааааа узкоглазі)))

  • It looks like she's knuckling

  • it's like someone is standing there with a shotgun, threatening her to dance...

  • i wonder if she broke her shoes in propply .. the look like the broke in the wrong place 0_0

  • @wastedonlife1410 ha ha she is a principle dancer.. dancing for a long time.. i am sure she knows by now how to break her shoes in.. sometimes it happens that they break during a performance and there is not much chance to change them.. this does happen..

  • No grace, so rough and lucking passion, Sorry does nothing for me

  • maybe she is trained like one

  • Her shoes look dead....

  • Comment removed

  • She's amazing! it is amazing! so lightly with a dress and a perfect control, bravo

  • She moves like a child - that is, how child prodigees move with the extensions, balances etc. but without polish and several years of training and experience.

  • I don't like her feet..

  • 90 degree arches o.o...Holy..

  • Her face scares me.. there's no emotion and not that much grace either..

  • This shows how perfect technique, body, and feet aren't enough...it's the artistry that make a performance, and a true prima ballerina, and sadly this performance had none :(

  • Mizuka is sooo over Odette.

  • she definitely looks to be hating life...but wouldn't we all if our shoes died on us and we still HAD to perform, knowing what our feet were going to look like?

  • i came to this video after yuhui choe.... shes better...

  • Simplesmente adorei. técnica impecável e braços perfeitos!

  • why are you guys so on to her pointe shoes? they could have died earlier on in the performance and she didn't have spares.

  • She is knuckling. She needs different pointe shoes. I don't know anything about the pointe shoes in asian dance companies but I hope they don't all do that.

On another note, beautiful extensions, not much grace, emotion or anything else.

  • @phoenixbboo

it is supposed to look like that.

also, at 2:05 when she bourrees she is on the wrong foot, her front foot is leading when her back foot should!

  • Um, I am not involved in any ballet but I am still concerned if her ballet shoe is meant to look so crooked when she does en pointe..?

  • isn't Odette supposed to be sad because of her fate? as a ballerina i was told to "look" sad because thats the life of Odette

  • Pity her left leg goes so much higher than the right - loss of symmetry means she is more determined to show off her 'best' side than concentrate on the emotional aspects within the choreography. Does she even have a 5th? I wonder if the backs have broken in her shoes, something not right about them.

  • :-|

  • I think its fair to say that she has her own style and technique that maybe needs a little seeing too. She is concentraiting on getting every move perfect but all she needs to do is loosen up and get into character a bit more :)

  • It makes me wonder what any of you bitchy people know about ballet...

  • Those shoes are extremely dead.. &she's stiff..

  • she's so cold, i can't feel she's sad

  • Her shoe's were so dead.

but theres no point in complaining

    this was uploaded in 2009.

    this is 2011

Im pretty sure she has many other pairs of newer ones now

But im just saying,..he shoes are dead

  • She has a very nice arch but is knuckling.

  • her movement is beautiful, but she didn't even have an emotion of joy or sorrow. i don't know swan lake very well, all i know is that there was NO emotion in her face. also the way she broke in her pointe shoes is a little.... off. LOL but i think she did ABSOLUTELY beautiful.

  • ...like a robot !

  • Woah am I the only one who noticed her shoes are alittle sketchy?XD! Otherwise, Freaking gorgeous. The whole time watching this, all I could say was "UGH Perfect!"

  • 'est bonne mais.. il manque de quoi .. :P 'est bonne mais plate à regarder je sais pas :P

  • you know what shut the fuge up all of you all your doing is pointing out her rong doings in my mind she did perfect! and for those like @loulie1997 , @akdancer247 and @theballerinaforlife i bet you cant to most of the things she can so maybe instead of sitting behind the comuter bitching you should practice become atleast as good as her then you may say something about it 8D

  • her wrists and ankles were a bit awkward at times and she lacked emotion but basically every move she did was perfectly executed! I though she brought her arabesques down in a hurry but i don't know, may that's just me! All in all a pretty good odette for a beginner! :)

  • She had no facial expression and i kind of think it's choppy. And i think shes knuckling in her pointe shoes... but she does have a nice extension, it didn't seem as choppy as she kept going but the beginning was SO BORING that i really just didn't want to watch her do it anymore, sorry.

  • I'm kinda wondering about her feet.... does she have a shank in her shoes?

  • Her technique is amazing but she has no emotion!

  • This is what ballet has become? Tricks to music in front of a back-drop?!? YUCK!

  • Her pointe shoes...

  • Around the middle of her variation, I had the strangest feeling that the music had just been added to the visual afterwards - it just seems like she isn't connected to the music.

  • no expression... this is really boring after just 10 seconds of it :/

  • she is no prima ballerina

  • it looks heavy and tired

  • BEAUTIFUL EXTENSIONS! But she looks like she hates her life. I really wanted to see the innocence and poise and elegance and everything that makes Odette who she is.

  • @ClumsyTheNinja She probably does.

  • Beautiful technique but her expression is totally blank. She doesn't feel it and dancing is not just about how perfect your legs are or how many turns you can do is about feeling what you are doing. Is about loosening up in the stage and loving what you are doing. I didn't like it because of that. Wonderful extensions but I didn't feel her. I am a dancer so I know what I am talking about. I may only be 12 years old but I've been dancing my whole life .

  • She has overarched feet i has nothing to do with her pointe shoes.

Do any of you have the choreography? If so could you please just put it on here

  • I hate her grand sissones. Her feet look fine, the shoe cuts in a bad place, but perhaps thats where her flexibility is.

  • @LVdancerbabe I see what you mean, like her feet only point from the metatarsals down. The former Kirov ballerina, Galina Mezentseva had similarly, oddly shaped feet.

  • Her shoes look like they were worn out!!! I would suggest new ones. And give emotion!!!!

  • Her shoes look dead

  • Eww. No emotion, no carriage of the upper body and not pointing feet.

  • the whole thing is just legs legs legs. and i didn't like it how she did a higher jump on the first sissone than the second one, so that was really weird. and yeah. it's like her face is in giselle and her body is in swan lake

  • i would like to see more emotion but thats just me. odette is such a vunrablle character. i want to see that when she's dancing

  • omg those pointe shoes lol wtffff

  • she has dead shoes that or they might not be hers either way they are not meant for her

  • she looks like shes sitting in her pointe shoes dont get me wrong shes amazing but she looks emotionless and morbid odette is suppossed to be explaiining a story not just plain......i hope she showed emotion with the black swan

  • umm. . .those look like gaynor minden's to me. . . that's just what i think.

  • HER FEET! ARE AMAZING!!!!!!!!!

  • Yeah... it's a bit dry technique here... a smile here and there or a dreamy face or just one little geste to show that someone is in there... to let the little swan wave out of there nostrils... and it would be perfect. And it wouldn't hurt to laugh when bowing as well...

  • Great technique but ballet is an art not a sport, it needs EMOTION

  • They might be Gaynor Mindens, or Grishkos, or Capezios, or whatever.. But A Dead Pointe Shoe is a dead Pointe Shoe! How bad, im pretty sure they got dead that same day or the day before she performed this. And since Pointe SHoes are so expensive :S

  • DEADSHOES DEAD SHOES DEAD SHOES

  • terrible

  • excellent technique.

  • I know that in some Asian cultures, open emotions were traditionally considered a weakness. This is the Tokyo Ballet, I get it, she is amazing, beautiful.

I highly recommend reading "Shogun", the books are fiction, but give an interesting look at Japanese culture.

  • @hangfrau thats not true, she's probably raised in an a ballet school focusing tooo much on technique and very little on emotion. i m asian and the girls dance with emotion.

  • @thefourandonly1 I agree they look really weird on her foot. Can she not fund any others?......

  • She's a professional? Wow...

  • robotic

  • her pointe shoes are dead. really really dead. amazing dancer though

  • this is an excellent gymnastic, or a kind of modern interpretation of odetto. She seems like just got our from a mental hospital.

  • She's very good! Yes, she could use more emotion though =(

And yeah, she needs different pointe shoes!! The box is weird on those ones.

  • oh my gosh, she really needs a stronger point shoes!!!!!

  • oh my gosh, she really needs a stronger pointe shoes.

  • ugliest point shoes ever!!!

  • OKAY PEOPLE.! we get she has no emotion while she does ballet, at the least. BUT SHE IS A BEAUTIFUL DANCER. every dancer has their own styler; this is hers. I HAPPEN TO THINK SHE DANCES BEAUTIFULLY.

  • omg she's like a robot, no emotion at all :|

  • her shoes make her knuckle its really ugly she needs new shoes. But she is a good dancer!

  • She has no musicality, expression, and emotion; that Gillian has.

  • hmmmmm...i don't think i like it. it looks difficult

  • Her slow pirrouttes at the end, so nice!

  • wow.... her face was so... dull! There was no expression or emotions in them at all! Her dancing wasn't bad but wow... do something about that face! She looked so positively bored to be there it was like it was killing her or something!

  • My feet hurt now.

  • Very coolly classical! (This is not Giselle!) The shoes allow her to do some lovely balances though they make her feet look incorrectly places.

  • she has no emotions... makes it kinda boring

  • @TheBallerinaForLife it looks kinda like she's tired and exshausted - but i can understand... after all pros have to dance for 6 hours a day

  • @TheBallerinaForLife This is an accusation leveled at many Asian classical artists, not just ballerinas but opera singers and musicians too. I’m Asian myself and I can see there’s some justification for it. Physically blessed and technically proficient to be sure, she lacks “soul”, that indefinable, untrainable quality that makes all the difference between a merely satisfactory performance, and a great, unforgettable one. MIyako Yoshida was another Asian ballerina who never really moved me.

  • @avesraggiana yes, she is definately a BEAUTIFUL and talented dancer, but yes, you are right about having no "soul" to it. there is talent there, but with no emotions, that talent is not fully exhibited.

  • @avesraggiana What I felt about this particular girl was that she was looking tired. A bit like I personaly feel when I have cummulated excessive fasting, and a sort of lack of inspiration.

I'm sure that she has a potential to convey more than she did here, but I think all the comments on here accusing her of having "no soul", wouldn't help... That's such a terrible judgement, and I feel it wouldn't help her feel the ingenuity, enthusiasm and self-loving that wud help her express what she can.

  • 上半身が汚い。

    惜しい。

    森下洋子氏をみた方がいい。

  • lovely technique but kind of boring.

  • very good. this is something different.

  • sadly, this is a typical modern-day ballet performance - a "production" of drab, painted backdrops (i.e. no proper "sets") with emotion-less, super-flexi ballerinas. We need to resurrect Petipa from the dead so he can whip everyone into shape. Please put me in a time machine back to the 1890s in St. Petersburg, post haste! :)

  • she looks sooo bored. :L

  • omg! what kind of pointe shoes are those?? they look awful!

  • Emotionless... and bad point shoes....

  • ummm this woman niether cares about her role shes dancing nor her dead ass pointe shoes..... Marinella nunez does it for me. sorry

  • she looks so bored, and oh my god the point shoes horrible

  • HER FEETTTTTT look kinda weird... like obviously she has gorgeous feet, but are her shoes dead or something? and also her face... was a concentration face. not an odette face. but yeah, she's a really pretty dancer ^^

  • she's beautiful. the way she dances is engaging :O so much better than marina... o_O

  • this is gorgeous! But her feet....her pointes....what happened?!

  • ??O_o?? well not bad...

  • gran belle tenute ma inespressiva totalmente...non mi da niente...brutta. mi dispiace

  • this looks a bit dead to me. She doesn't seem to put any emotion into it, but she is beautiful. :)

  • Her shoes look dead....

  • super joli

  • she has a very good strenth in her center and legs! that good!

  • She has very beautiful feet, as well as technique, but her dancing and her expressions incorporate no artistry.

  • Comment removed

  • love her arms, but no one like Uliana :)

  • her feet are amazing

  • Those shoes are not flattering.

  • :(( I dıdnt lıke ...

  • She's ok, but i've seen better :(

  • I don't know. It looks too...careful; measured. A certain quality or subtext of abandon is missing; something very subtle.

  • The problem with these videos is that you see all detail up close. The perspective for an audience is different, and that is why small details look "off" in ballet clips. I also think that these entertainers/artists sacrifice enough of their young lives, and I would not want them to give even more to perfect every move.
