Why it's red? Same reason why the original GB, GB Pocket and GB Light handhelds were B&W. To reduce battery drainage. If it was in color, it would still fail. To prove it, look up "Bad Influence Virtual Boy".

shame really that the only color that the vb was able to generate was red. to make things better, the kiddies were having severe cases of seizures, those that had the virtual boy. RIP Gunpei Yokoi. you will be missed.
