Winona Ryder was hot in Beetlejuice, she looked like Jeanette Lee the videographer from PiL. hot punk chick. she owns Rough Trade records. weird how JT Leroy rhymes with ploy lol seems she made a truckload off of "traumatized" upper-middleclass/upper class hipsters, its funny/fascinating. hence Manson/Ryder. The actors, director, screenwriter, art director, and everyone else involved did a great job. If they were trying to make a film about a white-trash-crack-whore, I say well done. The movie accomplishes its goal.

But I'm not sure I believe the plot. I don't believe the social workers would let that woman have her son back.

I haven't seen the movie, but in the book she runs away with him not too longer after she gets him back when social work comes to check up on them. I can't say it's uncommon.

Read the book. Her father beat her, and though it's never said, I believe he also raped her and that's where Jeremiah came from. I don't know if it's the same in the movie, but it seems to me she feels abandoned by her own family and only used by men. Her son is all she has.

The Suite Life series have been a cash cow for Disney and are hugely popular. Suite Life on Deck is still in the top 10 of all cable shows, so it's not hurting the boys at all. Still, it would be nice to see them in Dramas as well as comedies.
