  • In 1967, I was stationed at Ft Wainwright, Ak, near Fairbanks. One of my duties was to stand guard at what was then called Gate #2, which was right by some railroad tracks that led who knows where? Usually around 10:00 PM a freight train would come through there at about 10 MPH, and the engine rocked just like in your video, and the other cars on the train did too. They rocked a LOT, and it was funny to watch them because they were all out of sync. I think it was worse in the winter at -40.

  • Thats horrible

  • I am so glad I read the description

  • Just a mild concussion... He'll be fine. LOL

    Sounds like it has indigestion.

  • Just a mild concussion... He'll be fine. LOL

  • at minute 3:15 you can se the rails all bended!!! is this ok? doesnt supposed to be curved but leveled? isnt this an security issue?...yikes!!!

  • @enterBJ40 The track should be pretty solid! Almost looks like the track was placed on dirt, and not a stone base. This is an old branch line that hasn't seen maintance in a VERY long time.. Thanks for watching...

  • @1jackdk why dont they maintenance it before something happens

  • I like the Chessy (sp?) system ones, where they have the cat shadow in the "C"

  • Can anyone explain why a GE Dash-7B locomotive has EMD geep trucks?

  • CONRAIL QUALITY

  • hey, conrail! I love the videos with the liveries I remember as a kid.

  • Man i miss seeing her on the ohio central

  • The engine and coaches look vintage.

  • fix the track

  • where is this?

  • @GALM1CIPHER93 It was between Carrolton and Minerva, Ohio. Thanks for watching

  • There's a Lionel Conrail Genset Switcher... It's cab number is #4099! But how?!

  • Harmonic rock. That would derail if they were allowed to go class 2 speeds or higher.

  • michael bay did not direct this video

  • WHERE'S THE CRASH? WHERE'S THE BLOOD & GORE?! Dissapointed.

  • They call that "Conrail Quality"?

  • Wow... that's bad. Also, it's strange seeing a GE Dash 8 with EMD GP trucks.

  • It's like Ducan'a Rock 'n' Roll. Do do do

  • Talk about ROCK AND ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @jonjoy1999 train wheel going over the rail gap i guess when track gets hot it expands causing the gap to close up it stops the rails distorting everytime we get a hot day

  • conrail quality xD quality

  • I do not know who is swaying more...the loco or the engineers head.

  • Carrollton to Minerva? That 4099 now wears G&W colors. Thanks.

  • I really like how there is no stupid music in this video. Just good quality sound. Also what makes it rock like that in the beginning? it doesn't look like a very heavy load.

  • Love this video Jack...showed it to my brother Drew and he loved it! Thanks for your hard work man -Drayton

  • Cheese - coming into a facing-point three-way turnout on that miserable trackage must be a real thrill...

  • sounds like the train has a flat tire...

  • How fun to watch a third world level train in the first country, after watching what my country France is able to do with a TGV running at 300 ou 320 commercial, and able to reach 574,8, after the previous records : 515,3 in 1989, 380 in 1981 and 331 in 1955 !

  • @steloification Funny! I don't see anywhere in the heading that there was a collision. Sorry you where disapointed in not see any blood and gore...

  • @guitarman994 lol tf2 guy

  • why would he need a neckbrace.. ?

  • SRAČKA

  • Erecting a Neck brace

  • what route is this?

  • My lord. The rails sound like they are about ready to fracture. No offense to the Ohio Central, but they should really consider putting out some funds to make theior railroad safer, or they are going to end up with alot of twisted metal. I feel sorry for those passengers lol. They prolly had to OD on a bottle of Tylenol after that one lol. Great video, btw.

  • @nsrailfann4life91 The safety record of the OHCR is fine. Are you aware of the revenue available to OHCR so that it can put money into track repair?

It's very easy to second guess a railroad when you have no facts. And it's also easy to see why many shortlines are cutting back on allowing excursions such as this one. Even the railfans who often support the endeavor spend their time second guessing what these freight operators do.

  • I think I heard a few years back when our Carrollton Warriors took that train to do battle with rival Minerva, the train ride took 2 hours to go what, maybe 12 miles?

  • @1jackdk there is your answer pc was known for there world class! derailments :P

  • @DSVetDad Thanks DSVet! You are exactly right! If people would at least take the time to read the discription, they would know whats going on. MANY times on other clips, people ask, where or when was this taken? EASY! Just read the discription. Most of the time its in there. I don't understand why people think there is going to be a wreck! I don't think there is ANYTHING in the caption that speaks of a wreck! Anyway! Thanks for your service! and take care....

  • Its a real testament to the resilience of rail transport to still see those tracks take a heavy engine like that. Right on.

  • on europe you can find these kinda tracks hardly even on 30-40 years dismissed railroads!

  • Will he need a neckbrace because the train keeps rocking back and fourth?

  • Conrail quality? Fix the fucking tracks! :)

  • I don't understand the ridiculous title on this video!!! Why the heck would anyone need a neckbrace for this? Your average 90 year old could out run this train. Seriously?

  • If he needs a neck brace for that then how does he ever get in a car? He is the most fragile engineer that I have ever heard of!

  • Only a wimpy engineer would need a neck brace after that. He should retire if thats the case. The track is a little rough but no threat of a derailment. Most ppl have no idea of how hard it is to derail a train. I bet $100 the engineer if fine and is used to this route.

  • looks like some type of school feild trip or some kind of tourist trap type trip, very slow moving and old unused section of not very well maintained track!

  • y is a great engine like a conrail running on shit track like penn central's?

  • Comment removed

  • well thats a let down.

  • The future of high speed rail service?

  • kabron tren una rueda redonda y la otra cuadrada o mi hermana iba en uno de esos vagones con uno de sus muchos novios je je je dandole pa bajo

  • wow, the tracks at 3.19 are really buckled

  • @branma Now its an ex NS

  • That old Penn Central track certainly looks in rough shape. I'm guessing they don't run freight down these lines anymore.

  • @branma No! Its an ex-NS unit in this video. NS got it from Conrail, who got it from the Monongahela RWY. When I took this video, it is owned by Ohirail, but the unit still carries the NS number, and sub lettering. So that makes it an ex-NS. The unit is now owned by Ohio Central. Thanks for watching...

  • always wonder when one train knows when another comes on the same track. and what do they have to do if that happens.

  • That should be illegal

  • lol

    "CONRAIL QUALITY"

...It must not be very good! xD

  • @AngelMama020406 youtube letting you down? try GTFO the computer and doing something productive.

  • @MoonlightAutoRepair you're the one that clicked on it, get over yourself

  • @Pigeon1888 what sort of weird prick sits on youtube, clicking on videos, then gets pissed he's wasting his time. good lord, turn off the computer and try walking outside tomorrow.

  • Is this usually a freight only route or a minor line?

I wondered because it looks like the track has sunk at the joints and needs lifting & the ballast re-packing. This is just a maintenance issue & I wondered how bad it had to be before they sent a crew out.

  • Awesome!

  • What are those ONR coaches doing in the states? :-S We're they under lease

  • @1jackdk No, that was N&W track...owned by the W&LE today. The PC had tracks at the other end of the Minerva Branch about 3 miles east of this location.

  • What causes that, rails need repairs?

  • 0:07 to 0:22 What is Love? LOL

  • Fuck conrail

  • Nice vid you got here, Are those rails even safe? I can hear the rails creaking under the weight of the train ready to snap at any moment. Whats with the coaches? They look like they haven't seen grease or paint for years.

  • @SPACECADET2U I really, really hope that comment wasn't serious.

  • @tomg106 - Ohio, Carroll County.

  • It just looks like they need to lift and re-pack the ballast under the ties at the rail joints.

  • fix the dang track is what they need to do; never seen a train get bounced around like this just because of the track condition!

  • @Fireheart528 I love comments like yours. It's so simple!!! "Fix the dang track". LOL. And while you're at it cure world hunger.

It takes money to "fix the dang track". So many tourist operations are hanging on by a thread, in particular given in the last two years ridership is down for so many.

In reality this is just a bit of rock accentuated by the lense. I've seen far worse.

  • @MarkieBhoy17 NOW!!! What the HECK would make you think that!!! LOL

  • @1jackdk all u have is trains and tht dumper truck

  • Nice video of the kidney shaker.

  • I was on that train a few years back when it took the side mirror off a pickup truck parked at a restaurant in Minerva. Quite funny.

  • Interesting that they had a Ontario Northland coach in that consist

  • I was looking at an action movie and i ended up here? meh, what the hell, throw in an arnold schwarzenegger and it'll be fine :)

  • Da wird ein ja beim zusehen Himmelangst .

Wer da mitfährt hat mit dem Leben abgeschloßen .

  • That's just begging for a derailment

  • It sounds raggedy...overhaul please!!! train and tracks

  • 0:13 looks like the train is dancing

  • Very cool, thankyou for sharing!

  • Keep the great vids coming! I love railways, so it's all good as far as Im concerned!

  • Wow those rails are terrible

  • so where is this neck brace coming into play?

  • Man!!!!

  • LOL looks like the engineer was gettin busy in there, and brought along some company haha. When engine 4099 is inclined, she's all mine. Seriously though that was a rough ride, i've never seen a train ride on rough tracks like that before. You really get a feel for how rough it is when you see the engineer swaying back and fourth in the cab like that. Cheers, IC

  • @1jackdk Well, I like your videos because they are YOUR videos that you took with your camera on your time. These people like raffi98 who is a code copier w/no uploads and the others like pigeon1888 and gumbo33NF have zero uploads on youtube. They are just youtube watchers who don't have anything to offer, other than a whine on someone else's personal uploads. HAAHAA. Upload something if your going to knock down some one else's upload and then we can go to your channel and see what you made....

  • Thanks for the great vid...don't bother paying attention to these morons insulting your videos.

Most of them can't find their ass with both hands and a flashlight much less getting off their asses between porn whacking to actually go out and do something constructive like this...btw, R.I.P. CONRAIL!

  • @ Gumbo33NF & Pigeon1888, how about you guys leave this guy alone, why dont you go play in the tracks somewere were no one needs you... also what kind of name is Pigeon1888...some king of poop you were playing in!?!?

anywhy nice catch!! I did love the conrail paint schem! :D

  • Where is this?

  • Where's the MoW when you need them...

  • Never mind the brace, that poor guy will need to see a chiropractor ASAP.

  • @Pigeon1888 That would be the millions of people that don't pay attention to people like you.

  • Ouch thats painful

  • Oh Shush people! Every video doesn't have to please everybody. I love trains and even the mellow videos I enjoy. The sounds, the ambience. I love it all. So thanks to whoever posted this.

  • I would have liked it if the engineer needed a neckbrace as the title suggests.

But instead it's a crap train on a crap line doing about 1 mile per hour.

You and your weird friends watch this and I'm a douchebag??

I hope you get AIDS you cunt.

  • @Pigeon1888 did you ever have the idea that you are quite an idiot?

  • @Pigeon1888 What sort of douche bag wastes his pointless life to sit and watch videos he doesn't like??

  • i think its so funny when a person puts a bad comment on a vid they dont like... if u dont like it... MOVE ON!! (great vid btw 1jackdk!!)

  • thats one hell of a harmonic rocking. I think i would need a neck brace after watching that. lol

  • It's called railfanning you jackasses. It's a HOBBY. Porn addictions can be hobbies, car collecting, model trains, you name it. They put shit up, and you have no problem...

  • so ?…

  • Weird... well I'll tell you this.. the ONR stuff will be used to the rolly polly track... all the track from North Bay On and north is rocky like that...

But I'm still unsure why were those coaches down there?

  • I think people were expecting a crash video, not an enthusiast video. :)

  • thats odd

  • @Gumbo33NF Thannnnnkyoooouuuu!!!!

  • @1jackdk Hell, I liked it... Interesting to see the shape the track is in during the very last few seconds of the video. If you like trains, there is no such thing as a bad video. I love 'em all........

  • they need to redo those tracks that's going 2 make a derailment

  • @PvtVVitt Sort of like your comment.

  • I presume he fell asleep at a strange angle. You train watching types are a bit delusional, heads up in the normal world this is about as exciting as a cheese cake

  • Right next to wehre I work, they have a set of old tracks like this. It is a service pur that runs from the small Van Nuys swithing yard, to the Budweiser plant. While stacking the cars making the big trains, or unstacking. You can see the engineer rocking around big time. Plus when they are making the grain delivery to the Bud plant. They have to take it real slow. The other two main lines are laser leveled, and the trains take those around 70.

  • @Pigeon1888 that would be ME!!! Thanks for watching. LOL...

  • Comment removed

  • @AngelMama020406 i know right i thought someone was going to trip on the tracks why would the engineer need a neck brace lol like you said to stay awake

  • I hope he does not spill his drink.....:-)

  • CONRAIL? QUALITY?

WHERE THE HELL IS THAT "GOD DAMN" QUALITY,

    I DON'T SEE ANY!

  • That's union work for you.

  • He's just rockin'

  • MIle Post 16 from where?

  • Where was this? Those coaches, like the CNJ car next to the unit. (Unmarked) were pretty interesting. That car is at least 80 to 90 years old.

  • Yawn.

  • Another very fine video.

Beautiful all American rolling stock, thoughtfully filmed.

-But 'CONRAIL' makes me laugh. -I think of the movie 'ConAir' & imagine ''Jail-on-rails'' !

With tracks like that, how long before Sea-Sickness tablets become mandatory for rail travellers ?!

  • Penn Central track!

  • Apparently some viewers have never bounced around in a locomotive cab while riding over ridiculously rough track. Looks like the engineer was nearly flung out of his seat at one point. I remember reading a story by one engineer about how some GE's will beat you to a pulp even on good track. This track reminds me of the Minneapolis, Northfield and Southern in the '70's when there was no maintenance budget and the ballast was pea gravel and mud.

  • @AngelMama020406 Thats funny! There was nothing in the title that even implied there was a crash. You would need a neck brace if you get a whip-lash, and the way the guys head was bouncing around, he may have gotton one. Sorry it was a let down, and you didn't see the crash you where hoping for. Thanks for watching anway...

  • im no engineer or nothing but this train seems to be fuckd period

  • wow that was riveting.

  • @1jackdk might wanna look into getting some ribbon rail

  • I have rode some of those passenger excursions. The rolling stock and rails are so old that traveling any faster might mean a derailment.

  • fix your damn tracks

  • Isn't amazing you photo places I've been to. I used to do track work on OHIRAIL out of Manerva. It was an opportunity to run my motorcar. We went through the Tunnel which has now been "daylighted". We ran out of Amsterdam too. On my way home I stopped @ Carolton. Is this the line that had the dinner train?

  • haha it looks like its dancing pmsl!

  • Thats not what i call "Conrail Quality"

  • what a fucking video, waste of time.please remove this video from youtube

  • @asshole7817 your user name says it all!!!

  • @1jackdk username is for the people like you.....

  • @asshole7817 Ohhh!!! That's REAL good pickle nose! I guess after a 1/4 of a million hits on the video, we got to expect to see stupid shit from people like yourself, Chicken lips!!! Go watch another dance video!

  • @1jackdk ya..... dats true, after watching such an ass video people wont be switching on this link again, people are hitting on video because of train and not because of the shit which ass clown people like you have shown. sit at home and keep watching only your video.more than3/4 of this must have watched by you yourself or perhaps more than that.....

  • @asshole7817 Why don't you go back to school and learn how to put a sentence together loser!!! You illiterate bastard. I usually delete the assenine stuff thats's posted by mindless freaks like you, but I'm going to keep this on just so everyone can see how stupid you really are. You need to find a new boy friend. Your outa here!!!

  • I hope that he had a light breakfast.

  • thats a good place to smash pennys!! When the trains is rolling slow!! OR duct tape a quarter to the tracks and it will be 4times as big

  • Poor passengers in that train.

  • @CoupeGrace The passengers look like they are getting a pretty good ride.

  • people who think this is a grass grow video maybe should play vid games or something...some people dont like to see elephants,or watch the moon move across the sky... i do...this is a train not a sit com..great vid...tnx for posting

  • what causes the train to rock like that please? is it actuallly in danger??r

  • @laphant It is caused by low joints in the rail. The Weight of the locomotive and the train tends to beat the joints down, and makes a low spot in the ballast. Which in this case, the ballast has turned into dirt . There has been cases that some cars will start rocking so bad, that they will fall over on their sides.

  • for YOU IDIOTS OUT THERE THE VIDEO IS INTERESTING CANT YOU GUYS SEE THAT THE TRAIN IS BOWLING YOU RETARDS

  • Woble Woble Woble..That is funny. Those tracks need leveling. That could derail a train.

  • That was so cool !! can you make another one just like it ?? If not ill just watch it over and over..

  • With such light jointed rail I am amazed that they are running a US road engine at all on this line. I would think something like an EMD G8 or a Alco DL351 would have been a better option

  • dont watch the full video, nothing happens

  • wats the point to this?

  • what the fuck is this. this is so fucking gay. why cant you make a train video with fire and exsplosions and death

  • @MegaPOWERSTROKIN95 Your an asshole, you are too violent AND USED GAY IN THE WRONG CONTEXT!

  • very rarely do i ever comment on videos but jeez, this was like watch the worlds most boring movie waiting for a punchline that never comes. why would this engineer need a neck brace!? what was the point of wasting your time to even post this? i want the 3 min and 24 sec of my life back.....

  • that was really exciting, it had me gripped all the way through

  • What is the matter with these people? They should be watching dancing with the stars or some other such trash.

  • @Poelstra13 Glad you enjoyed it!!! Thanks for watching.

  • The engineer must get paid by the hour.

  • Why would the engineer need a neck brace? What a waste of my time watching that.

  • @blc48183 Sorry you waisted your time. Maybe you need to go watch grass grow or something else more constructive. I see on your page, you don't have anything good to say about anyones videos. You need to get a life. Ore maybe a new find a new boyfriend...

  • the engine has hydrolics-_-
