  • Saw Lou at Brixton Academy in the early 80s. Remains the best concert for me this day. Would love to hear that wounded, shattered glass of a voice do an album of cole porter songs.

  • i have a vinyl bootleg of this entire show.

  • That tour Pre dated punk , defined Sydney Kings X and Blue Printed the best Australian Rock n Roll for Years to come....Sure led me astray, the day I saw this on GTK at age 15.

  • FULL GAY-FLAMER MODE! FLIPPIN OUT LOU! HAHAHA

  • I was at this gig--still got the ticket stub to prove it--too f'ing much--thanks for posting this--too much. It was an amazing night. . .

  • That was scary. :(

  • I was at his concert in Melbourne I don't know what month it was but at the end I jumped up onstage and walked off with my arm around his shoulder. There was no security in those days just some chick who told me to piss off. Lou didn't know anything at all not at all .....cheers kiddies

  • more speed, more speed ,more speed, faster miles per hour, go Lou!!!

  • seriously -australian amphetamines apparently abundant. i especially liked the part at the end where lou hallucinates cops in his dressing room.

  • Bloody hell! I was there! Not that I can remember much! Wasn't drinking or anything, it is just so bloody long ago, I can't remember much about it!

  • Lou at his best...

  • ohh yeah !!! lou is amazing

  • Boris Karloff on an off day €;~[

  • "goin' to church"!! Man, and the colored girls go, doo, da doo, da, doo...

  • God love his heart; alas, Lou could not keep up with the guitar work of "Rock n Roll" or "Sweet Jane". This video does not do the studio version justice as both songs are near the top of my all time guitar hit list. Check out the album or in my case the 8-track.

  • all your comments are true but still it is a mesmeric performance and I couldn't take my eyes off him

  • Uh, this just doesn't work. It looks and sounds like some art college kid doing the thing and believing that he's doing it great. Well, you can't be a champ every day.

  • it looks like angus on 53 seconds

  • IOt's Steve Hunter on lead guitar.

  • I think AC DC was the support band at this gig??

  • It's nice to see this but Lou should have layed off the speed and built up to a climax.

  • I was at this concert and I'm still alive. Not bad for an ex-junky (him and I both).

  • Nice line..good luck to you

  • try lou at the bataclan...

  • I think it was the lead singer of the celebate rifles, Damian Lovelock who said the toilets at the horden looked like a doctors surgery with various contraband being handed around.

  • Steve Hunter the other guitarist from rock and roll era (with dick wagner they were alice coopers guitarists)

  • Before that Hunter was in a group called Detroit which had Mitch Ryder as lead vocalist and Wagner was in a group called Frost. Both were Michigan bands.

  • lmao at this video and how cracked lou was. glad he's clean now though.

  • I would love to see some live vids from the "rock and roll animal" era with Dick Wagner and the other guy can't think of his name on guitars.

  • It was Steve Hunter, and he's playing lead guitar on this video.

  • Sorry wharfrat, but Hunter and Wagner had left before this tour (Sally Can't Dance). This is Danny Weiss on guitar. Saw the same band (different drummer) at Detroit's Masonic Temple, one of the dozen times I saw Lou live.

  • Honestly, I love the guy, but during this era, it bordered on parody. Totally incoherent, f*&$ed up. The dude playing the B3 should have gotten paid more for this gig than Lou. He is out of his gourd!

  • couldn't have said it better.

  • Leave the movements to Iggy, Lou

  • Iggy who?

  • that's funny, "Iggy who?"...

    I <3 Lou.

  • The great Iggy Pop, the true Godfather of Punk and lead singer for the Stooges.

  • I didn't realise the Stooges had a singer..only Larry Curl & Mo.

  • Different Stooges.

  • Wow yoos guys are lost. This is the NUT !!!This is total , on the edge ,not settling for the average performance.I was lucky to see great performances every time I saw Lou Reed, but I never saw this ! I'd give my left body to have been there. But I wouldn't give up the 'Take no Prisoners/Street Hassle' show!!

  • Wow..as a LR fan since many years..I have to say that this video is interesting as a part of rock history, but to be honest..he was completely stoned at that time and furthermore I never did like so much the keys and guitar on that tour. In a word, when he loose Hunter and Wagner everything has been quite different..and never ask him about that time: he might hate you:-)

  • Shoulda stuck to the dexedrine instead of the biphetamine.

  • Man, Lou why dont you play some guitar?

  • funny stuff, anymore from this show?

  • DO iT LOU-Y DO IT!

  • such joy, such joy

  • I wish I could travel time and see one of these performances live. Don't get me wrong - I love the performances I saw for the Ecstasy and Raven tours, they were fabulous. But you just can't beat these R&R Animalesque performances (I know this is a bit post R&R animal - but same sound nonetheless). AWESOME and thanks for posting.

  • Same here. I'd love to have seen him during the Berlin/Rock n Roll Animal/Sally Can't Dance era when he was at his most fucked-up and decadent.

  • This is cooool Thanks for posting this

  • oh lou :)

  • gee...think he was using speed at the time?

  • haha, there are some new vids of lou from 74 up - funny stuff - he was fucked up on something for sure

  • Same thing I was thinking. It's to bad because drugs it this case f up a great song.

  • Man hes Mullered as we say in the Uk

  • HAHAHA - amazingly weird. Great :D

  • A-a-ah-ahllr-r-r-riggght... ha ha, the choreography is just beautiful! And his voice! This should be the national anthem of the USA.

Why dont you post some more from this show?

  • Sorry, this is all I have from this show. I wish there was more!

  • @brownchicken "This should be the national anthem of the USA" hahaha made me laugh out loud! i have a link for a FREE mp3 download, your comment is 4 years old but if you still dig it drop me a message i'll send you the link.

  • A-a-ah-ahllr-r-r-riggght... ha ha, the choreography is just beautiful! And his voice! This should be the national anthem of the united states.
