I don't think it is illogical. If I go some where to sample a culture I want to sample THAT culture. If I went to Texas to see cowboys and all I could see was mexicans I would be disappointed. This video was fantastic. It was one of the best Q&A videos I have ever seen. I really like your position on things (with your different view points of what you would like, what is possible, and what we can do now). I'm a pragmatist of sorts, so I generally work with the "What we can actually do now" mind set, but I see the importance to have all 3 views on the matter.
I get his way of looking at issues and it's good to be able to do that. For me, there's only two - "Who am I truly?" and "What's the world like?" Very two different stories!

I don't think that it was the organised nature of European armies that led to victory over tribal nations. In fact the tribal bonds of nations from the German tribes at the time of Rome to the Maori at the time of the British meant that they were often more formidable and flexible militarily.
Rather it was a combination of technology and (the resounding factor) economic and social warfare that led to the defeat of such tribal nations.

As evidence that the President is powerless I will mention that the policies from one administration to another look pretty much unchanged. Although I recognize the President has some authority in law, I am not sure he can exercise it in any meaningful way. The extra-legal forces carry too much clout. That is how I see it.

I don't think it is illogical. If I go some where to sample a culture I want to sample THAT culture. If I went to Texas to see cowboys and all I could see was mexicans I would be disappointed. If I went to Mexico and all I could find were cowboys I would be disappointed. But if I see some cowboys/mexicans I doubt that would ruin the trip.
What Protean is talking about I think is more one culture taking over another... which happens all the time. Something I have mixed feelings about.

If some one physically assaulted you, regardless of the reason, in the manner you just described you should have called the police. Or tazered them. These sort of people need to be curtailed. But yes, I would call that obvious racism. As a side note, Germany seems to be taking a turn for the worse (again). I live in the southern United States and have never been a witness to anything that even approaches that (though I have certainly heard of it through word of mouth)

I really like your position on things (with your different view points of what you would like, what is possible, and what we can do now). I'm a pragmatist of sorts, so I generally work with the "What we can actually do now" mind set, but I see the importance to have all 3 views on the matter.

Unfortunately I'm all out reliant on tec for the moment, though I do live very austerely (I don't even have a car...), I actually believe that we can advance technology so much we can decentralize it from corporations and Universities to allow for a good living without the need for mass exploitation, etc. But that is more my utopian view of things... mind you it is informed with what I think may be possible in the future, regrettably its still a long ways to be accomplished.

I don't think that it was the organised nature of European armies that led to victory over tribal nations. In fact the tribal bonds of nations from the German tribes at the time of Rome to the Maori at the time of the British meant that they were often more formidable and flexible militarily.
Rather it was a combination of technology and (the resounding factor) economic and social warfare that led to the defeat of such tribal nations.

As evidence that the President is powerless I will mention that the policies from one administration to another look pretty much unchanged. Although I recognize the President has some authority in law, I am not sure he can exercise it in any meaningful way. The extra-legal forces carry too much clout. That is how I see it.
