You mean don't have it so far towards the back of my head? How come? The reason I put it that far back is because it sat nicely balanced there. I was afraid if I put it too far toward the front it would be really front heavy and have a better chance of falling off.
I recommend putting a nut on top and just leaving enough thread so that your camera is always aligned forward I made my own version too awhile back mine looks like the one you buy but my mount is aluminum instead of cheap plastic like their version
I guess that could work if you had a longer bolt. The bolt I was using was perfect with 2 washers. With the nut does the bolt screw right into the end of the camera mount? I am always nervous about it unscrewing and falling into the water if its not all the way in the mount.
Go to 2:00 in this video and you will see that there is no hat bill in the video. I haven't tested this with my gopro but I am pretty sure the bill won't be in view.
I have never had the camera or hat fall off. I do tighten the hat a bit more than I normally do just to avoid any incident when I set the hook or move around the boat. I would say that with most/any point and shoot cameras you will be fine. Just don't try to mount a big DSLR on your hat!
thanks for this video. I was always wondering how to make a hat cam with out going out and buying a mount. Thanks the video was great and very inspirational.
@TeamMOSSYOAK25 Thanks for the comment! I am glad I was able to help you out! If there are any other 'how to' videos you would like me to make just let me know!

ok thanks. I have one question though will the end of the bill be in the way of filming? and how well do hats stay on with the weight of the camera?
