Really great video's... and i mean all your videos i love the in depth detail which seems to answer all my questions.... instead of a 3min video that leaves me with more questions then when i started lol!!! Thanks again bro and i'm definetly subing you... P.S. is the ready store the best place to get my #10 cans of freeze dried? i heard saratoga farms was the best value for ur buck and the ready store seems to be the only supplier of saratoga farms....
Here in the great lakes they have recovered canned goods off sunken ships that are over 50 years old. They sent them off to be tested and the results were they were safe to eat and still had a good % of their nutrients,
It's a nice idea to make these but you could easily make that into a 3 minute video. It would help so many more people cause I bet most of them turn it off long before you ever show them the food. And you would be more likely to have people check out the other videos you do also. Just a thought.
I ordered a year supply of veggies, and a year supply of breakfast's. Good value, excellent idea for food storage. They also have non-hybrid seeds. excellent ideas for emergencies. I'm telling you, this is very necessary....NOW!
$21.75 for 8 ounces!!..... Thats over $40 per pound....I just baught a 5 pound bag of apples for $3.00!!!.... This is good for long term storage but what would it take to dehidrate, vacume seal and store you're self??
@jaymore123 40 per pound no offense but here in portugal its a cultural thing to eat dry fruit like in holydays and parties and it costs like 2 euros the kg XD
@jaymore123 better spelling and grammar. Bought, dehydrate, vacuum, and that's the wrong you're/your. Not to mention that it's yourself, one word. I thought kids under 13 weren't supposed to be on youtube.
If you want to go hiking and have a quick snack, then just buy some dried fruit mix which is like $2 a pack, it just doesn't have a 20 - 30 year shelf life, these are made for emergency food.....
lol, well after the video I pout the lid on and stashed them away...have not touched them since, but remmeber I onyl have a year now for the open cans...
Hey can you please upload the next video about food? I love those videos and I want to see the dried beef, I want to see if its like beef jerky and how much meat is inside :D
Be careful eating them out of the can. I had a friend who got sick because he ate them dry then drank a canteen full of water. The apples expanded in his stomach and he about died from the pain.
Dried and canned foods last so well, and taste good.
Just earlier this week, I ate some Clam Chowder (powdered) that was canned in 1999 (Yes, Y2K food.) It is kind of degraded in color, but tastes just fine. I went back to the pot for two more bowls, and ate leftovers the next day... So it couldn't have been that bad.
These apples look really good. I kind of want to try preserving some myself with a dehydrator.
to make them crunchy you'd have to put them in slightly cooled boiled water for 15min at least, this is to force maximum water into the apples via osmosis
Nice demo. Don't think I've ever seen Saratoga Farms before. It's usually Mountainhouse. Anyway, do the cans have a manufactured/processed/canned date on them anywhere?
You need to understand that that is for a 25 year shelf life. Really it isn't that bad when you look at what it happening and going to happen to the cost of food. Also, with the fact that food supplies may run out in a few years. It is a really good investment.
Oh, I did not know those could last up to 30 years. I know they are tasty as a snack for sure. I guess I will have to pick some up then when I am working.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
No offense but you suck at saving money and keeping it cutlerylover since you've also asked from your subscribers, with that $25 you could have bought yourself a food dehydrator and maid A LOT of this dried slices of apples instead of buying this overpriced product, also you could have maid yourself your own custom MREs bags for less money and more food.
I didnt buy this stuff...BTW you cna freeze dry food in a dehydrator, you can only dehydrate it which doesnt have as long of a shelf life (more moisture) , even though packed in an airtitght container it still last a long time...
unless you live in the mountains or a REALLY rural area i highly doubt you should waste your hard earned cash on this. del monte can fruit also lasts like 3 years so thats no point in buying these
just remmeber thnis is ftreeze dreid fruit, there ios literally no moisture in these, unlike dried fruit mixes you get at the store like banana chips or dried apricots and raisins...
@dsarti1 Well its just a taste test I didnt mind too much with the apples since its not bad for you or anything..But the lids go back on aftre the demos and they get stores for the year perhaps substituting some dinners in the mean time...what is opened for video isnt part of my actual storage since it dramtically decreases the life span, also Im not expectung to get all that many different cans, but well see...
@cutlerylover Yea right!!! You cant fool another big fat ass... This is why I keep all my freeze dried and MRE goodys in another building not in the house becouse they really taste good and if they are too handy (I am Weak) I will eat them LOL
do what i do if youre not gonna cook the apples after rehydrating them drain the water and lightly freeze them. mabye 10 in depending on how much you rehydrated. then poof! crunchy yum yum
BTW, remember that 6 of those are equivalent to a whole apple. Don't eat too many all at once unless you want to be using your hygiene kit more than usual. ;)
I think after you open the can that you should put the leftover contents that you wont use up in a month into canning jars with an oxygen absorber and store them in a dark place. They should last a lot longer after opening if you do. Depending on the product, you could use pint size jars for storage so that you do not need to open more than you will use.
hjardtack only offers one nutritioanl value, carbs...I guess you cna live off of that with a viatemin and mineral suppliment, but it doesnt sound very fun...haha I guess you cna add honey to sweeten the deal since honey doesnt go bad...
