If you could get a good partner for the CoOp it was far superior game play to the SP. If not then... go make some friends. Old school style, you wanna Mario Cart to the fullest? Get a buddy.
The only complaint I have is just par for the course with these puzzle games: no replay value. But eh, I loved what I got. Fun husband and wife bonding game.
i fucking love you for this especially since you pulled it off spectacularly.i have yet to play portal 2 and i refuse to do so until i get portal one. i know that seems like a cardinal sin but being nothing more then a pleb meant that all i had during my childhood was an out dated ps1 with 3 games. that was it.
i was never a gamer up until recently. but putting all that aside.
While this is an excelent review, I have to disagree when it comes to the "no closure" thing. I thought the ending was pretty good, especially when compared to the first Portal. Everything worked out in a good way, without it feeling contrived or mushy. The story between Chell and GLaDOS is finished, and I really can't think of anything more that could have been added, other telling us what happens with Chell now, which imo isn't needed. She's finally free and can explore the wast outsides.
@Jonnern72 Yup, due to the steam network now available on the PS3 (if it was online) PS3 players can activate their portal 2 using steam on the PS3, this allows them to play with PC users and at the same time gives them a free copy which they can use on the PC
Though I don't entirely agree with the review (I personnally found Portal 2 absolutely flawless, especially looking forward to both the upcoming user and Valve-creeated maps), I loved it =).
And yet all minor chinks in it's armor. Loved the game from start to finish, and if I were allowed to I would willingly pay Valve 200% of the original price.
You have thousands of fans eager to play coop with you over the Internetz Mr. Jackson.
Plus, the game DOES have an end. Only it is not clearly stated and a great deal of it has to be juiced out of the game after beating it to a pulp.
It took me 7 hours to finish it at first, and even thought I thought it was a pretty funny game, the real story hadn't even begun to unfold. Now I almost find it sad to walk in the blank corridors of Aperture, that scenario is one of the best I've seen in years.
A fine video, but I gotta side with SatansBestBuddy (an uncomfortable statement when taken out of context): No resolution? Really? I haven't gotten a chance to play the Co-Op version yet, and I'm going into it pretty much expecting a load of self-contained stage levels (which I found to be a welcome breather in between the intense exploration bits). Maybe I'm just a believer in the Baccano! philosophy on story endings, but I found Portal 2's to be both breathtaking (wink) and fittingly cheeky.
Totally understand what you mean by the lack of closure. I mean, after all that effort, to just end it in such a way that leaves you slightly confused and with more questions than answers is pretty frustrating (especially the co-op ending...).
But hey, it was one of the most enjoyable games I've played in a long, long time. Plus, J.K. Simmons made me pee my pants on multiple occasions.
0:02 Sounds like you lost your mind there, buddy. XD Fantastic review. I had to pause and rewind so much due to laughing so hard. We need more reviews from a funny chap such as yourself (I can call you chap, right?). I've seen Zero Punctuation and, to be honest, he's more foul language and hatefulness than any wit or humor. You offer a review that leaves me in stitches without being rude or crude. And much like Fractaljinn2 and your fans, I too will follow you to the end, Mr. Jackson. =D
I actually think that Valve's lack of closure is just...signature! I mean, in reality, is there ever actually closure? No way! I think it's rather symbolic that Portal 2 ended with little closure. It's merely one door closing and another opening - much like life itself.
I wouldn't say he's /better/ than Yahtzee, but at least now it feels different enough to not call a rip-off. Now it's gone from "I'm-obviously-borrowing-every-single-part-of-Yahtzees-reviews" to Pepsi and Coca-cola. At a glance, the same product, but subtly different enough to allow preference.
Actually I would argue that there is an ending. Yes it's a bit of an open one but clearly says The End.
except for coop which says "More stuff coming".
unfortunately Coop isn't anywhere near as good as SP as much fun as it was playing it with my best mate it let me down a bit. Still I think the game is worth it's price on the SP alone.
I don't think anyone could argue that he has a point. The lack of a solid ending did leave me feeling a little bit confused, among other things. I mean, it's not like they could exactly justify a third game with Chell, but introducing a new character at this point would still leave you with questions about what the hell happened to Chell. It's a lose lose situation here.
I never really knew much about portal, so wasn't bothered when 2 came out. But the influx of youtubers playing meant I ended up seeing one video...and then got hooked watching. I may even actually go out and buy it...imagine
Some NEEDS to give you your own review show. Yes, just a review show. Not a video game review show because I have a feeling you could review different kinds of paint and it would still be very entertaining to watch. A review show where you could review whatever the hell you wanted. I'd be willing to settle for just video games but you have a skill sir.
the multiplayer campaign for Portal 2 is the best thing that's been released for married gamer couples in nearly a decade. being one half of such, it was a thing of great beauty.
@ProphetTenebrae I just enjoy both, don't see any merit in comparing them, though I'd love Jolly to do more of these, they are extremely good and that's all that matters.

At the end, Chell gets set free. Glados decides that its just not worth trying to kill Chell anymore, so sets her lose.

Also they did fill up the gap on how she got there at the start with a fancy comic.
Youtube doesnt allow links, so search "lab rat portal" in google to find the comic.
And the game has so much more to offer if you do play with a friend with microhpones
Being able to solve puzzles with mind bending 4 portal trickery and making fun of your friend is nuts.
