  • What a little girl crush I had on him :)

  • The joke's on me....

  • He's such a breamdoat *sigh*--Later for that crap, what's the weird instrument? Ocarina, keyboard, flute?

  • Yes GOK 3001 You are right . I sing this song all the time when I leave the house. I explained to my wife about the two different versions. I am pretty sure he was the one on the show and sing the song going to the army.

  • Let's face it, this guy was one ugly bastard.

  • Yes, He was a guest on the Donna Reed show, and he sang this while vacumming, I, think, only on the s,how he was about to join the army, so he sang G. B.C, W.......im off to join the army......bet they'll have me marching G.I. style. I think....anybody remember that or was it Paul Peterson? (Jeff)

  • @G0K3001 actually he was riding in a army jeep with shelly and sang about leaving for the army.this of course from memory of the episode i saw in 1961 and not since.jeff, mary and james darren were all recording on Colpix records.

  • @nomiclas actually after I wrote the comment I realized it was the wrong senario. Thanks, also a one time viewing of the episode. Great song great moment on T.V. When watching a T.V. program was a weekly event. Have to admit Shelly Fabres "Johnny Angel" was a huge single. More so then this one I think?

  • @G0K3001 i had a 13 year old's crush on Mary(who wouldn't?)and still do.your right about the songs.James darren was another hollywood "cute" guy that got put out there to be a hollywood heartthrob.it just so happens he made a couple of great tunes.

  • I STILL have this 45 . . and in excellent condition.

  • I remember when James Darren starred in Time Tunnel and sixties series and starred in the Gidget movies and he was also a semi regular Star Trek Deep Space Nine. He was handsome then and still looking good!

  • cool

  • Dang, I haven't heard this song for some fifty years!

  • Love this song, however this sounds like it's pitch has been put up a bit making it sound a little faster.

  • I remember him from the TV show; and my mom played the 45, All, all day long. I can't seem to find the song listed here in youtube though. Can anyone help me--it's been 40 yrs. since I've heard it :D

  • time tunnel

  • Where is he now? do you know?

  • He was also in the 60's show "The Time Tunnel" !

  • Love it! Memories. Colpix issue in States 1961, UK#28, US#3. Another record I blasted onto UK audiences.. .and didn't even know (at the time) that it WAS also a UK hit. Yes, I remember him on TJ Hooker, but when i was a kid & this song came out didn't know he was an actor. Thank you to anthonytorelli about Gloria Shayne Baker. I heard the same sort of story in backing vocal of "26 Miles" by Four Preps. Thank you for uploading.

  • This was a song that lodged in my head when it first came out BTW I preferred him

    on 'Time Tunnel'

  • thanks 4 sharing...great tune!!

  • I heard this song on my local access television channel and had to look up the lyrics.

    Thanks, OP.

  • Great tune :-)

  • Released Dec. 1961?

  • @MrGoldenseal75 Nov. 6 I Believe

  • Gloria Shayne Baker who wrote the song also was the the calliope-like riff used in the song. She did it on the demo that Jimmy Darren heard and on his recording and they just kept it as it sounded so real. Wow, some range
