  • The best one!

  • it was great!

  • I loved this! Great job to everyone involved and congratulations on a well deserved win...My only question is why aren't you over here at UT studying film? :P

  • Really good film...love the production!!! Don't know why anyone would ever call it a 500 days of summer rip? ...Haters will hate I suppose...Anywhoo, it inspires. Cheers!

  • lol some of the "students" are mid 30 :p

  • The best one!!

  • yay rhapsody in blue!

  • Finally more female filmmakers!

  • @RhiannonRobertsxx -- you're being marked as "spam" by, hmmm...let me guess? yep, the bitter one.

  • I am the first to suggest that this is a rip-off of (500) Days of Summer? And I can't be the only one to think so.

    Not to mention...time limit anyone??

What is the point of having rules in the first place?

  • Rhapsody was shown Feb 2009

500 Days of Summer was released in Aug 2009

  • Sarah Wilson is BRILLIANT!! I am so proud that she is at USF and that this film has been so wonderfully recognized. The cast is superb. Keep going, Sarah!!!

  • yeah! she must have good eyes and a great memory when it comes to watching theatrical films and reproducing them!

  • wow. bitter, much? this film came out BEFORE (500) Days of Summer. check your facts before you hate next time.

  • no it didn't. it might have not hit theaters before this, but it was already filmed and you saw it and copied it. Check YOUR facts first.

and I have nothing to do with this fest that it I could even genuinely BE bitter about it.

  • are you totally stupid? although 500 days was initially screened at Sundance (yeah, what college kid has the $ to go to that?) in late Jan. 2009 and the film wasn't released until July. "Rhapsody" was done WELL before then (college filmfest awards were last spring). and yes, you seem bitter -- the comments about "rules" betrays your obvious interest (and bitterness), poor thing.

  • I don't THINK I'm "totally stupid." When it premiered and costs do not eliminate the possibility of a college kid seeing it, esp. w/ the amt of resources these filmmakers were somehow able to come up with for the actual film.

  • And sure, I'm in love with the CMF rules so much that I am bitter when people do not follow them properly. I just really enjoy the idea of a student competition. Cool, if one has more talent and resources than the next group, but when something artistic is so closely familiar with another piece of work, I start to wonder...

And if you made this film (or to whomever did), fine.

  • What I should have said was, "Wow! The concept for this film is really amazing! I know this came out before the movie, but I like how it reminds me of (500) Days of Summer! Great job!"

  • no, I didn't make this film. suffice to say that the director IS a student and so is her production team. what/how do you know the resources it took to make this film? and please tell me how if she broke so many of the rules did this film win Best Film? I would think someone along the lines (say, from local, to regional, to state, to national, to international) may have checked that out along the way, don't you think? Seriously, you're bitter. And way off.

  • No, I said that they broke the time limit rule only. (I know, they only judge the first 5 minutes, so, cool). And I know nothing expect that they had a lot of resources for this film, which is not a suggestion of cheating on my behalf. I was just stating that, yes, it was present. Seriously, I'm bitter. And way off. Pen Island should have taken everything. (No, I have nothing to do with that amazing film whatsoever at all.) =)

  • I'm glad that you feel so strongly about another film, but why slag Sarah's very hard work on this film in a public forum? If you want to know what her "resources" were, you should ask her -- she's the nice kind of person who would tell you the truth rather than diss someone else's film based on supposition, and certainly not in a public forum like you've done. She's got class. And it shows in her work. You might want to take a cue from her example.

  • Pen Island is a very silly film. I was being silly. I don't question how she got her resources and again I don't think it was against the rules to have them.

I'm glad she has class, though, and never thought she didn't =) She is a student, right??

  • Excuse me, anthony, but praytell. What exactly is the "point of a student competition"?

watch the other movies that made it to Los Angeles. None of them were made by a "regular team of college students". That is the point of a COMPETITION...

  • where did she get all these resources??

  • @PrAnKsTaRRz

check out the credits, she obviously had a team size comparable to a hollywood film. I believe this undermines the point of a student competition.

  • lol its a good film tho... but yeah i doubt a normal college student can organize and get all these resources, and especialy decent actors

  • @PrAnKsTaRRz yeah wowo they really got lucky with all of those extras and costumes. And especially for going over the time limit.

  • there you go again pretending you "have nothing to do with the film fest."

  • yeah. there I go. I=You're right. I'm so invested in this festival! Woo! I hope they like me! I hope they really like me!

  • Excellent! Is there a behind the scenes or making of video?

  • Holy shit. I go to USF, people are actually good at making films here?!

    Surprised.

  • lol, how can any regular team of college students compete with this?

    amazing job!

  • @anthonyaperez they can compete by cheating :)

  • lol, awesome! nice stuff.

  • This was an awesome short movie! The coustumes were amazing and I just luved it!

  • I am so proud to have been a part of this! Keep track of Sarah Wilson's career, she's definitely going places! :)

  • loved it!! :)

  • AMAZING JOB! I really like the first part with the paper world and the transition to the "real world" is perfect. Love the story, the scenography, everything! It looks gorgeous. The actors are great and the guy makes some hilarious facial expressions. CONGRATULATIONS!

  • Awesome! :) Proud to be a Bull :)

  • usf lawl

  • Loved the paper houses sequence at the beginning, wall of snapshots, and costume design. Nice work!

  • Great film.

CMF, this film is 5 minutes and 30 seconds long. Not saying I would have won big, but maybe at my school, yet our project was DQed for being longer than 5 minutes.

  • I agree, great movie but what's up with the 5+ minutes??? There's either something we don't know as participants in terms of exceptions or there is some rule bending going on.

  • and almost all of the films that were screened at my school had cursing and copyrighted material in them!

  • When we asked at the info desk, they said that the judges will only watch the first 5 minutes...if selected, the film in its entirety will be screened.

This also has quite an extensive credits sequence :]

  • good stuff people! great work all the way around!

  • Wonderful! World class, I tell you! Bravo!

  • "Rhapsody" won Best Picture at the Grand Finals in Los Angeles.

  • Amazing video! I keep watching it all the time. And Shannan... you ARE a princess! =)

I hope to see you soon,

    Valentina

  • I competed at CMF Ohio State and the level of dedication you guys put into this pushed my team and I to strive just as much.

Good luck in Hollywood, you genuinely deserve to win; no contest whatsoever.

Don't ever let anyone give you sh*t about pre-production time. Your producer(s) definitely worked hard and your entire team deserves a level of respect few student film makers could ever achieve.

Check out our team's entry, and let us know what you think!

Hope we'll see you in LA next year!

  • splendid. yay shannan-- you rocked yellow like none other

  • This movie was something special. Truly adorable.

  • AMAAAAZING

  • awesome!!

  • I love it. that blue kid is hot.
