In the UK the law was that children were excluded from proceedings. As a result of the Human Rights Act HRA children are now at the centre of disputes. I wish you well with your petition.

It does not stop amazing me how easly love can turn into hate, and how a couple who made a child can start such a terrible war as a divorce is. While both my children are older (14 and 21), this "Syndrome" describes what is happening with them to a "Tee". Both had an excellent relationship with me prior to the separation but eventually saw the need to align themselves with or support their mother. When they were talking to me, both claimed to be able to think for themselves, but all I heard was my ex-wife's words coming out of their mouths. Because of their ages, lawyers will do nothing about it. Counsellors have failed.

UK Courts do recognise PAS - it is child abuse.The problem is for the target parent to proove it! It takes discipline and a lot of hard work. Any ever noticed the ratio of homosexuals that are raised by a single mother vs being raised by a mother and father? It' like 7 to 1. In the UK, visitation rights and payments for child support are treated as 2 completely different issues.

To answer your question, if the court knows where your boyfriend lives, you can expect them to chase him for child support.

There is no guarantee that he will get to see the child.

Child support should be just that, support for the child, not enrichment. Every child needs what? Clothes, food, water, a clean safe place to call home and access to daddy.

I've read studies that suggest that it costs between $175K to $200K to raise a child to the age of 18.

If we use the average, around $187K, the yearly amount of necessary total support would be $10,417. This would be $868 per child, per month. (Currently, $611 Euro, or about the same in Australian or Canadian Dollars...The site I went to didn't have Pounds available)

The half owed by a parent would be $434.00 per child per month.

The long and the short of it: Kids are expensive.

the long and short of it is very simple, if a man wants to see his kids, he should. If there are issues surrounding child protection, the state should step in and provide facilities for the contact.

Family Law needs to be removed from the judicial system, and families given counselling and support to remain together.

The easiest way to ensure contact is for the government to pay child support and if the father doent want to have nothing to do with his kids.. GIVE HIM HELL...

My ex wife continues relentlessly to play games in not allowing our daughter to talk to me on the phone though we live in different towns. I have watched my 10 year old daughter change since our divorce. She was once kind, warm and full of laughter when we were together. Now when I have her for visitation, she is sullen, accusatory and spiteful. Been here my daughter just turned 18 so I have mixed emotions I want her to have all the power my ex had. PA didn't work with my ex and her family. I don't know why they played every dirty trick! As soon as people realize that it's not about the child but about the MONEY maybe they can cause a change. This is a 5 Billion dollar industry! Not to mention the thousands of people employed in the child support collection agency and where does that money go? Up until 1960 dads got the children.

I'm really sick of hearing how Alec is an abuser, as it is Kim Bassinger apparantly, who is the abuser. It is so typical that the alienated parent is always painted as "the bad parent" and that is why he cannot see his or her child...what a bunch of BS.

My Name is Nina. I live in Hamburg and I am a Mother. The last day I saw my daughter was the 27th of November 2005! The Father alienated my daughter. You know what I´m talking about....I would be happy if you can delete the "Usually Mothers" in your text. I know most of the Parents that alienate their Children are women. But I think it´s because, that most of the childrens lives by their mothers.

Great commentary, my only disagreement is that 'even' needs to be removed, because I believe that it is toddlers who need the relationship with their father moreso than older children. Older children have higher memory capabilities, and therefore can rely on thier own decision making abilities (my eldest daughter proved this to me), whereas babies & toddlers have extremely limited memory recollection ability.

I think the Alec Baldwin case shows the anger that can be deliberately built up in the alienated spouse by in this case the mother. PAS is real and only those who have experienced it can understand it imo. Bassinger has used this phonecall and cares nothing for the childs feelings.

Great video, except for the Alec Baldwin part. Cut it out and put a better example instead of him. His phone call has ruined your video. If it were my video, I would actually remove it from Youtube, modify it and then I would post it again.

I really appreciate proudguy's comment. My thoughts are that Alec Baldwin's case just goes to show the damage that PAS can do. Far from taking the extract off the video clip I think it goes to show the damage PAS can do to relationships. This video clip does not justify his actions but goes some way towards explaining them. What do others think?

I think Baldwin is an abuser. Every one of his tactics displayed on The View are tired and predictable bully tactics.  Job 1 is grab the victim role for yourself. He's also "playing the servant". Anyone who understands how bullies operate can see what he's doing...or trying to do.

I do not think there are many parents who have not lost their temper with their child or children at some time or another.

Is Baldwin's outburst 'bullying' and should his custody rights be affected by his behaviour?
