Everybody needs to remember this was the 80's..... things were a lot different back then, go back and watch most anything that was being broadcast in that era. Things were a lot simpler, and a more innocent than what's being crammed down our throats today. No way you could get away with this today.
I remember the video of Rick Martel training in Québec City. It was for his forthcoming championship match against champion Dino Bravo. Both were faces at the time, but Bravo had to cheat and use bad tricks to beat him. Excerpts I saw were great. That was the match of the year. I think there was also of training video with Hall and Oates '"Maneater".
I used to watch him on telly in the 80's, I always found him so handsome, I just hope he's a nice guy in person! He's French Canadian like me. Lots of French Canadian Models in Videos in the 80's. Robert Palmer " Addicted to Love " (all the sexy girls in his videos were French Canadians women!
Poor you, you missed all the fun of being in your late teens and early 20's, in the eighties like I did, I was born in 1962, you add it all up, I am 46yrs old.
Believe me, I am now 46 and was your age in the 80's, I enjoyed this decade so much! I miss those days so much but I like some Modern European groups that produce interesting videos!
Not entirely, anyway. I balled some dude out on the Strikerforce promo vid (the one where they talk about Montreal vs. New york nightlife); I mean, has anyone stopped to think that maybe the "gayness" is for the women in the audience who might enjoy Rick Martel working out (like me)?
As a rule, no wrestling video should be set to Hall and Oates' "One on One". Particularly a male wrestler's sweaty training montage. I mean we all knew Martel was/is a stud.
i would readily offer my sister as tribute to the model

C'est cette vidéo avec Rick Martel dans les années 80 qui m'a donner le goût de faire l'entraînement avec poids et haltères et j'en fait depuis 1986.

I am a big Martel fan, but this video is weird. A very odd choice of music for the piece to say the least. 1:40-1:46 looks like R

"de paris francia" ???
Not really, more "Québécois" than French.
Yet a great wrestler...
Arrogance... even the most resistant female.

mags1008 3 years ago
But back then (pre WWF) his gimmick was that he was French, especially in PR, Mexico, Japan and New Zealand.
