we are MEE-TEIS, the dominant people of manipur in the north eastern corner of india on the border wit myanmer. Majority of us follows 2 religions- the original meetei religion called Sana Mahi and the Vaishnava sect of Hinduism. The above wedding ceremony is a part of the mixed culture of Meetei influnced by Hinduism. Wht the bride wears is called Poloi n its very famous which is also worn by the calssical manipuri dancers (also called Ras lila is one of the classical dance forms of India).
