GPS will work, no problem on planes. A lot of commercial planes are fitted with them to aid in navigation. They have good antennas, but it is essentially the same thing as a TomTom or Nuvi

Cool I took my gps on a plane but thought i could not turn it on so i didnt try.. damn bit im going to fly to spain this summer i will try that will be pretty cool knowing were you will be.

haha, that is great! I just ordered a ONE XL last night, can't wait to get it. My cousin has a GARMIN which is pretty cool, we purpously took wrong turns and kept going and the thing is smart and re routes you automatically.

i just got my tomtom xls and its amazing! I even went the wrong way and it recalculates, this this is awesome!!

My tomtom one xl will be arriving on Tuesday according to UPS, the case which I ordered directly from tomtom took 2 days to come, I got that last night.

To all of you getting the One XL, do not update the software on the device or the maps are gonna get lost, did it to mine last night and the maps are all gone, and a lot of people has the same problem. Contact TomTom before upgrading. If anyone knows how to fix this please contact me.

Thanks for the heads up! It's actually still underneeth the xmas tree in the box untouched. I'll be sure to wait a while before updating it on the computer.

YES, GPS devices ARE allowed on the airplane. See the link in the description. I say this because many people argue that you can't. Even the flight attendant thought it was cool.

@sageuvagony : Really? According to US Airways I got told NOT to use a GPS on the airplane at all.
