@AlfaraviS the new software 4.0.2 has been locked off from apple from being able to 'slide to jailbreak' so downgrade the software and you should be able to jailbreak

It did not work with 4.0.1 for me on my 3GS (MC135LL), I had to downgrade to IOS4.0 and it worked... I was able to install Cydia...

First off, Can I jailbreak successfully still?

Second, when I update to iOS4 and jailbreak, will I have all of the apps I have now on my phone that I already downloaded via jailbreak? For example, will I have re-download and/or reinstall apps like Angry Birds or Navigon?

@fathomdesign You'll have to restore to a time when your device wasn't jailbroken then update to iOS 4.0.1 and don't restore setting/file to your device with an older backup( unless you're certain it's when it wasn't jailbroken)

Then jailbreak, open cydia add the hackulous source,download the appsync for oS4 and re-sync the apps across, I'm unaware of another but I could be wrong!

@fathomdesign if you haven't done so u can also just download the ipsw 4.0.1 and then just shift and click on update on itunes i did that and i keept all my apps with out having to restore from an older back up...

@alert1997 1. yes, but if you use a backup from when your iphone was jailbroken your iphone will fuck up more then likely (what I heard)

2. Back up your iphone BEFORE you jailbreak it so if you do not want it nothing is truely lost.

3. Yes. If you restore and get a backup NOT from when your iphone was jailbroken you will be fine. The whole thing should be gone (since everything is being put back to factory)

4. Once again, do NOT put a jailbroken backup file on any device not jailbroken.
