@madsw08 Hi. Thanks for watching. You could cut this recipe in half if you like and it should work just fine. It does make a lot and takes time to roll each ball. We usually make these during the holidays and we've even been known to double or even triple the recipe... ugh. Bet cutting the ingredients in half should work fine. Hope you like them! Have a beautiful day and hugs...
@kawaiierikuh Hi! Paraffin wax can be found at many grocery stores where canning jars and supplies are sold. I used the Gulf Wax brand which I found at Walmart. Hope this helps! Thanks again for watching and writing in!
hi, I am Italian. do you use paraffin wax? is it edible? I like you recipes but since I am Italian I have completely another way of cooking and everything makes me curious.
@martinallegra Hi! Thank you for watching and writing in. Food-grade paraffin wax is edible and is often used in chocolates to give them a nice, glossy finish and to help them remain solid and hold it's shape at room temperature. You are Italian? Oh, I adore Italian cuisine! Do you have any cooking videos on your channel as I would love to see what/how you cook!
actually I'm very shy but I can cook a great hand made pasta and chocolate profiteroles. I don't have any video of it but it could be a funny thing to do :D thank you for your answer.
@ChocolateRules12345 You are a Buckeye? Woot-woot! Awesome! What part of the state are you from? I'm near Cincinnati! Thanks for stopping by my friend! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Hugs...
@grandmacheapcheap Hi Grandma Cheap Cheap (love your name!). Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope these buckeyes turned out great for you. They take some time to make, but they are so good and rich! Happy Holidays my friend! Hugs....
They look GREAT! Have you ever mixed rice crispies into the peanut butter before rolling into balls? I recently had some like that and they were excellent. Thanks
@4vermont Hi! Thanks so much for stopping by and writing in. I've never tried rice crispies mixed into the peanut butter. What an awesome idea. I usually make a ton of these for Christmas, so I will be sure to try this! Thank you for the tip! Have a beautiful day and a blessed upcoming Holiday! Hugs...
@usafireandrescue My wife makes about a thousand of these darn things every year for Christmas give aways.... Do you know of an easier way to roll these little rascals into little balls? Is hand rolling the ONLY option? Thanks in advance!
@FiberMania Hi. I do the exact same thing as your wife... I make a ton of these things for Christmas and, thus far, I have not found an easier way to do it. I tried using a small cookie scoop but I fumbled with it so much that I just went back to rolling each one by hand. I'm sorry I don't have an easier way. They do take some time to make, but I think they are worth it. I haven't found a store-version that even comes close to homemade Buckeyes. Have a beautiful day.. hugs.
@usafireandrescue Yup..... Thanks for the reply. I think she went down the "scooper road" too. I tried to convince her to make them about golf ball size (ehehehee) but she isn't going for it. Or mold some of them into hamburger shaped patties and coat them in chocolate like big reece cups. She ain't going for that either. She likes doing things the hard way!
@petmycatwiththose LOL, yeah you're right. This is an old recipe. It was my great grandmother's and I try to prepare it the same way she did. I just wish she had written down all of her recipes because she was an amazing cook. Thank you so much for watching and writing in! I truly appreciate it! Have a beautiful day! Hugs...
@PlatypusGuitar Oh yummy! I've never heard of adding the cereal, but it sounds wonderful! I like the dark chocolate too. Thanks again for stopping by! Have a beautiful day! Hugs...
a friend of mine living in ohio recommended these to me, and damn they look good :P speaking of japan im gonna study abroad there within the next few years :D gotta up my skills in a few areas first, mainly kanji XD
@Xcurior Hi! Thanks for writing in. These are so good. Rich, but good! You are going to study there? Very cool! I wish you all the best! Thanks again for stopping by. I'm sorry I just now found your post. Have a beautiful day...
@smilejoy123 Hi Smilejoy123! Thank you for watching. I've never made these without dipping them in chocolate, but I'm sure they would still taste great. Kind of like peanut butter balls! Yummy! Have a beautiful day! Hugs...
Hi Trish! I hope you can try these buckeyes! They are really addictive. They do take some time to make, but they are soooo worth it! Hi to you and your hubby!!! Have a beautiful day! Hugs to you and yours...
Hi! i want to know.. do these taste like resses cups? my mom loves them and for her birthday i might make them.. is it easy for a 12 year old girl to make? and are they worth it? soo many questions!! thank you for this wonder ful recipe! -Erin
Hi loldudewow! These are similar to a reese cup... only richer with more peanut butter and better in my opinion :-) I would suggest you melt the chocolate and wax in the microwave.. it's quicker and easier that way. Break the wax into smaller pieces... it will melt quicker. Try 1:00 minute in microwave, then stir, and repeat until melted. They take time to make... rolling each ball by hand and dipping each one. They are worth it though! Feel free to message me if you like :-)
Hi Jim! How are you? Thank you for commenting! These do taste something like a reese cup... only richer with more peanut butter! These are very hard to stop eating! Hope you can try them! Take care :-)
You are amazing. I am sending this recipe to my mom. Do you know how to make a lemon pound cake or have a good recipe for a sweet potato pie.? You can tell I am found the south by these dessert requests.lol
D! Thank you for the very kind words! I really appreciate it! I have a sweet potato pie recipe coming up in a week or so! I hope you will like it! :-) Take care sweetie!
Hi Nicko! These are very bad boys... :-) Takes a while to roll out those buckeyes, but they are so good! Congrats again on being on tv! Way to go! {{{Hugs}}}
Hi Tim! This makes great tasting buckeyes! Very hard to stop eating them! The wax seems like an odd ingredient, but it keeps the chocolate together. :-) Hope you like them! Have a great weekend! :-)
I wonder if they would taste good with white chocolate. Mhmm any ideas?
