If you are all more advanced, will you please create 11 or 12 videos that are each a minute and a half long that shows how to do all of these beginner steps so that I can supplement my ballet class at home?
Oh, what? It seems like a pain in the ass? That's why this is all I have.
Please, this is beginner information. These are experienced teachers. They do know what they are doing. If you are more experienced, don't watch the begginer stuff.
when she went to second from first was that supposed to be a tendu because if it was it clearly came off the floor! omg it is hard to watch these videos!
who does plie's in third position? i can tell you that no one does. well no one that is worth mentioning. i feel like this lady threw on everything ballet she could find too. wow this is just a ridiculous channel of NOT experts attempting to dance.
Only little girls does plies in third position.I can tell coz my sis always practice it.But MY GOD!!my sis is 7 year od,in grade 2 ballet, and does it better then this 'expert'.
I do a good amout of dance for someone who is never in a dance class(i am in color guard and our teach is a ballet teach at some school). Therefor i have never used a barre (well the floor barre- but that doesn't count) and we do all six positions demi and grand, and i don't think any one of us sits that bad on a grand.
I really don't like criticizing people who are putting themselves out there and taking a chance but this is not "beautiful". Her arms are terrible and she needs to be taught the correct way to hold them. Always keep the standing leg turned out even if the "working leg has not reached the turnout one desires yet.
everyone is not a ballerina, just because they teach ballet. the ballet teacher i had always made our arms and legs match, she would have a fit if our legs straigtened before our arms.
wow, hey for some one like me who knows little about ballet this is helpful to me. BUt why is it needed that you guys critize this on youtube. Why not do it at an actuall professional performance
But, as a beginner, wouldn't you want to be shown the EXACT way to do it? Not ways that include errors? Wouldn't you want to do something to the best of your ability? To do so, you need to know what errors to avoid.
I like this and it's called Demi Plie when you go down half. I learned that too. But now we just skip third and fourth positions and go straight to fifth.
omg wow where the hell did this teacher get her credientials? it looks like she has no REAL TECHNIQUE at all! ok first plie is not half a plie. Second she is sitting in her grand plie!! Ok by doing that she isn't getting anything out of doing that. And she should use her heel when going into different positions.
Every student should be this disciplined. Notice how most dancers are emotionless like they are in trance.

i have only just started doing an adult ballet class and even I could tell there was something off about her technique.
But at the end of the day when you cant afford the expensive dvd demonstrations.. this is all I have and tbh fair play I'm not going to knock it.

Graceful and nice!

More like basic village. She's leaning towards the barre and her hands are TERRIBLE! Also the so-called 'teacher' has no posture WHATSOEVER.
balletroxmysox123 1 year ago
If you use videos like this to learn ballet, you will end up injuring yourself. Be careful. The technique in these videos are crap.

how do people not know how to do this. go to class not watch expert village BlAH ! :p

i found it quite useful, and it was slow enough for me to keep up.

you dancers are pathetic. nothing will ever make you happy. if you're so perfect submit your movies and see all the trash you'll get.

you turn your toes out and you will have knee surgery sooner or later if you do it this way... how about turning the leg out from the hip? :\
tedsler 2 years ago
OMG!
her turn out is awful!!
her arms are not right.... i can't understand how this woman can be a ballet teacher!! :P
N3feliii 2 years ago
Her toes are not even turned out! In second position the distance between the feet has to be of one foot. This "expert" has about 3!!!
mfkinder 2 years ago 3
i agree!
that second is hugeeeeeeee!
1149mrs 2 years ago
oh dear god, did you see how she moves her foot out even more when she goes into grand plié...
and what is it with the hamburger hands???
no more McD please

How can you tell she is arching her back if she is wearing a t-shirt anyway?
dancingfirechick1 2 years ago
I totally agree! I have learned third but of all the years of doing plies at the barre it has always been first, second, fourth and fitfth.
ballerina757 2 years ago
I have done ballet for years in 3 different schools in 3 different cities and we have never really used 3rd position in any of them...
Aubreykproflil1s 2 years ago
I think for beginners the 3rd position is ok;)
DasJoychen 2 years ago 3
3rd position is great for beginners, since they are learning how to hold their bodies, proper hip and knee placement, etc...
dancingfirechick1 2 years ago
Second position is not the only position that you keep your heels down in in a grande plie. There is also fourth ouverte (Opposite first).
speidismurf118 2 years ago
OMGGGGG THEY DONT HAVE ANYTHING OF "experts"
-her back was bent.
-her grand plie wasnt correct
-she should wear tights so everyone can see her legs.
- why is the older lady wearing that awful outfit?? thats not even ballet!

dancer4560 2 years ago 3
Clifton, you are critisizing us for critisizing them so I don't know why you are complaining.
The "expert" needs to keep her back straight (it was arched) and she needs to go down slower for grand plie...
Hybrid587 2 years ago 3
I thought they did just fine.

well
everyone is not a ballerina, just because they teach ballet. the ballet teacher i had always made our arms and legs match, she would have a fit if our legs straigtened before our arms.

to all beginers watching this please know that it is important to keep your back straight at all times
