  • While the death of Ronan Kerr is both sad & tragic, let's reflect on the men & women of the RUC who laided down their lives to try & make Northern Ireland a better place. Let us not forget the catholic officers who served in the RUC against a far greater risk when the IRA was at the height of it's murderous campaign & stopped many decent law abiding catholics from joining & serving the community. It is sad when the death of Constable Kerr has been used as nothing more than a PR exercise by many.

  • A special breed of person to wear the uniform of the RUC. For years on the front line against the cowardly scum of republican and loyalist terrorists. I have read many comments from republicans slagging off the RUC. I wonder how many Catholics are still alive today in Northern Ireland as a result of the mere presence of these officers patrolling streets and country lanes . No other police force could ever fill the boots of these brave men and women. Never to be forgotten .EVER...

  • @182trueblue Great comment - Thank You.

  • @182trueblue Very well said. Both sides of the community underestimate what the RUC went through to try and preserve law and order in N.Ireland. Never again will there be such a formidable police force to grace this land

  • When you think of all the men and women of the RUC and the UDR that have given their lives, it brings a lump to your throat, they where all murdered in cold blood and we are supposed to forget, not a chance, the men and women of the RUC, UDR and the Greenfinches, your memories and spirit will never be forgotten nor will your outstanding bravery and courage.

  • I'm from Glasgow and I would just like to say that the Royal Ulster Constabulary were the greatest servicemen and women that the United Kingdom ever saw. They fought the real war on terror and many lost their lives to Republican scum.

    RIP

    Rule Britannia.

  • God bless the men & women of the RUC. Lest we forget Britains real war on terror.

  • A fitting tribute to a band of brothers. Such a waste of life. I do hope that it was not all in vain. At the going down of the sun and in the morning..WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.

  • i am proud to have worn the uniform and served with so many brave and horonable men and women in the R.U.C. G.C. n divison

  • Rest assured, the RUC will never, ever be forgotten.....

From your friends & colleagues on the mainland

  • Many thanks for your kind comment.

  • Great Video. RIP.

  • This gets me everytime. Lest we forget

  • RUC (GC) FOREVER

  • God bless the men and women of the RUC. Lest we forget., Britains real war on terror.

  • Best police force in the world.

Pitty i cannot say the same for todays tattered psni

  • I did my best, which wasn't good enough a lot of the time, I'll admit. Many, some passed over now, were MUCH better than me. I met some bad ones, but they were very much in the minority. Good people. Nobody seems to realise how good they were.

  • @icegreen2002 Thanks for your honest words.

  • terrorism will never go away .but lets be thankfull we have men and women like this who sacrificed there lives to bring some sort of normallity ....THANKYOU

  • 5 *, THANKS

  • You made our country the way its is today, calm and relatively peacefull. The best police force the world has ever seen. thanks.

  • Beautiful tribute to all my fellow comrades who are no longer with us rest in peace guys Never forgotten Nick Ex RUC

  • Just showed this to my father, we are both ex-RUC, reminded us both of fallen friends and fellow officers. Such a shame their sacrifice has been all but forgotten and the governement have walked on their graves in their appeasement of the enemy.

  • It was a hard job to do.I got there and here to tell the story.Ex RUC

  • Was the best Police force in the world.i was there.

My brothers and Sisters, thanks for being with me

  • A great video for a great police force.God Bless all those brave men & women that served in the RUC, we will never forget you or your sacrifice, from your brothers in arms on the mainland.

  • Whats the name of this song.

  • It's from the Band of Brothers theme tune.

  • God bless the R.U.C and the brave brits of northern ireland that defended against the rebels, thou shall not forget.... from U.S.A

  • Thank you.. Few of your countrymen supported us. In fact, the USA was probably our biggest obstacle.. To receive thanks is rare and welcome..

  • Yet again we are drawn back to the dark days of the past - my thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the 2 soldiers and the police officer murdered by cowards.

  • thank god for the RUC for without those brave men and women Ireland would surely have suffered much more bloodshed, they gave their lives that others could be free.I pray that all those who suffer may find peace

  • To the Brotherhood god bless

  • Brilliant video god bless the RUC

  • Yes the uniform members were the true hero's of the RUC and they suffered greatly just because of their job. I've always admired their families even more for having the belief to let them do the job that they loved. The PSNI is a different police force than the RUC because policing has drastically changed. A C.I. said 'This is a Business not a police service'. PSNI is 7 years old, how long did it take the RUC to become the quality force it ended up being. Give the uniform PSNI a chance

  • 5*****

  • A fine poem. RUC GEORGE CROSS, says it all!

  • I have no doubt that your father is proud of a son who can grasp the truth from the lies often slung at the RUC. I am proud of you for never mentioning religion or background, a symptom of ignorance. I hold my medals with pride which no politician can dent. I only ever thought of what the bad could inflict on others. My service was one of filtering the contagion of crime from our lives to ensure that the normal people didn't succumb to stealing, robbing and killing just for gain..

  • @BWFSabian Many Thanks for your kind words

  • A fine tribute indeed. They held the line for all the people of Northern Ireland, faced danger at every turn, yet they remained unbroken.

What the IRA failed to do, the so called leaders of Unionism achieved in a single act of supreme treachery. Do you remember Paisley saying the RUC was "safe in our hands" with Robinson by his side, and all the while they were plotting it's disbandment.

At the Remembrance Day Parades today, the PSNI wasn't represented, shame on them!

  • God Bless the Royal Ulster Constabulary and all who donned the green uniform and took it upon themselves to try and rid the Province of Ulster of murdering scumbags like sein fein/Ira. The Worlds best Police Force the R.U.C cannot be denied.

  • No Queens crown any more when it should take pride of place with that harp again BRING BACK THE RUC

  • I lived in pure hell while my father fought for queen and country in east tyrone and the border patrols every time he left my brothers and i would sit with my mother and pray that god would protect his chosen few and bring our father home again im just happy my dad is here with me whereas 300 hundred loyal servants to the queen lie in their graves GOD BLESS THEIR SOULS

  • We must never be allowed to forget the sacrifices that these brave men and women made, that we may live in peace!

  • i used to feel the same way, i was safe in east antrim while my dad served in north belfast, i think its only a loyal RUC mans child who could have these storys and remember how it felt, many nights i lay awake and prayed he would come home safe, its selfish cause many never came home.

  • @carrickboy Many Thanks for your kind and truthful words

  • Proud to have been in the RUC.

  • Fine tribute :),

I never had the privlidge of putting on the uniform ...and after several years in the PSNI it was more than enough to make me quitwith a vile hatred for the PSNI full of IRA supporting scumbag's

...it's like there's nothing left to fight for and all those fine men and women giving their lives for justice only to have their memory disgraced by the organisation they served be disbanded....Fucking sickens me :(

    No Surrender

    ... God Bless the Queen

  • Proud as punch!!

  • Gone but never forgotten. God bless the RUC; it saddens me that I will never have the honour of wearing that uniform.

  • Men and women of pride an honour. We salute them. They gave their all for everyone. God bless all those RUC (George Cross) officers that gave the ultimate scarifice for peace in Northern Ireland.

  • I lived as an RUC Station Sergents son in the police station house, i'll never ever forgive what my so called government took away from me my beloved RUC, it was in my blood. I have seen to many people put them down they haven't seen what the reality was when friends and family were murdered. May heaven keep them, they would turn in their early graves if they knew what was done to them

  • RUC .. Brave men & women

    Royal Ulster Constabulary

Gone but never to be forgotten.

The True heroes of the troubles, they didnt just live under threat at work but carried that with them till the day they died.

  • Powerful tribute my friend they will never be forgotten I served with the greatest bunch of men the world has ever seen. At least now this new lot will prove that point. PSNI Born from terrorism Shjame on all those that serve in it. Remember our dead and our sacrifice but they will never live up to the name of the RUC. Ex Special ops

  • I served with them on 2 tours bravest of the brave i salute you all

  • i'll never forgive nor forget, son of an RUC officer as well

  • After watching this for a second time its hard to believe this government of ours destroyed the greatest and proudest policing service of all time. Not because I served with it but because of the sacrifice made by so many who are no longer with us to view such a fitting tribute by a decent honourable citizen. We must continue to speak up for those who no longer can. Powerful video GOD BLESS YOU EX RUC....

  • nice use of the band of brothers OST in there mate, this brought a tear to my dads eye

  • Extremely brave men and women who had to live with the threat of violence day and night,on duty and off.

  • My good friend Trevor he's in the RUC

    I see, I see

but now they've handed him his redundancy

    I see, I see

The folks along the border won't be seeing him any more

That Provo sniper will be missing him for sure

  • Great poem!!! True heros walk about the streets without a mask covering their faces. The RUC battled to save lives on both sides of the religious divide. Some idiots forget that and choose to believe propaganda. Yes there were people who shouldn't have been in the RUC, but at least they were accountable for their actions unlike terrorists from either side, who now sit as 'MLA' memebers making decisions on our future!!! Disgraceful....

  • no one can say there wern't bad elements in the RUC, but no one can either say they wern't the bravest of the brave. IRA men could sleep safely in their beds at night, but these guys had to live with the threat of murder 24/7. I to take my hat of to them

  • Over a 1000 hits. Many thanks to the genuine people who have viewed this video. I am most grateful for your comments, regarding the men and women who served in the RUC and my video.

My reason for putting this video poem on YouTube is to honour the members who served and to remind us that we would not be where we are today in Northern Ireland without the dedicated service of both the RUC and British Army during "The Troubles." Many Thanks For Watching

  • Fantastic video my friend we share the same goals the RUC will live on forever EX HMSU god bless you....

  • TRUE HEROES

  • very touching......With their blood, peace was bought, always forever in our memories, Rest in Peace

  • as a ex member , very good , we where not perfect but did our best in awful circumstances !!!

  • there were bad apples who harrassed catholics but as for the others i take my hat off in veneration and awe for their strength and sacrifice

  • a great tribute to ALL those both sides of the community who served their country without a second thought...let hope people see this for what it is..a tribute to the good officers who gave their lives and not turn it into a personal slanging match!
