I Swear This Is The Most Boring Video I've Ever Seen You Just Played The Same Footage Over And Over Again Was The Idea For Me To Memorize The Layout Because I Know It Now.
The sad part is that, according to what I have read, most of the roughness could have been fixed if they had replaced the trains with a different style. Now that The Big Bad Wolf is gone too, I hope Busch Gardens puts a good coaster in their place.
People were complaining that the ride was too rough (and it was) and that they had sore necks and headaches afterwards (I did, but I kept riding it like a dumbass). Plus, it was in an isolated part of the park and was difficult to get to, though you could easily see it from the Big Bad Wolf. A teenager suffered paralysis from whiplash in '97 on this ride, causing it to get shut down.
I make it a point every time I go to BG to inform new park employees of the ride they were never told of. It always elicits a suprised response when I point out to them that the one house in Festhaus park looks like a coaster station, and the other one looks like a train storage & maintenance shed. I would not be suprised to see something very similar built on the site in the next 5 years. Apperantly, Drachen Fire has a large following a decade after it was taken from service, and BG knows it
I dont think there wil be any new rides in the next couple of years, due to anheiser bush being bought out. the buyi ng party could not afford the whole company, so they may sell bush gardens. i hope they dont, because i cant amagine a busch gardens willout the budwiser horses and stuff like that.
They closed it in 1998 and then tried to re-open it but failed, so in July 2001or2 (not sure) they ran the trains to make it seem like it was open but then tore it down after the 2002 season. (i think)
no it stopped running in 96, it was up for a few years but didnt run. until im pretty sure they finally sold it. in 2001 it wasnt even there to look at
"A train was traveling on the track on Opening Day of 2001, testing the ride to decide whether or not to re-open it for the 2002 season, as well as raising many people's hopes about the possibility of opening with the rest of the park. It was never re-opened. In February 2002, the coaster was torn down and its steel melted."
@RJben Nooooo....Cause i was there in 2001 and there was nothing there but the docking place for it. They took it down and left it down. They wont reopen it if they had so many people complains of it.
@iC4NNIB4L "The Drachen Fire was shutdown in July 1998. Initial plans were to modify the roller coaster. It was then decided to sell the roller coaster. No buyer was found and the Drachen Fire was taken down so the steel can be recycled starting in the fall of 2001 completely removed by March of 2002." and i have pics from those dates... lol I am a nerd i know
Can you personally confirm that Drachen Fire was open regularly during the 97-98 seasons? I had season passes from 97-07 and the last time I got to ride Drachen Fire was in summer 96...so all this nonsense about the ride being kept in operation for an additional two seasons is NEWS TO ME!!
I love how much work and creative effort you put into memorializing this unique coaster. It really was one in a kind, but I have to admit, its bark was worse than its bite. I was glad to ride it in '97 before it closed, but I was somewhat underwhelmed.
Nah, not at all. I learned the first time I rode it to grip those handles and press my head into the seatback as hard as I could for the entire ride. I only ever got a headache once.
I rode this the first year it was up and I was like 8 years old. One of my favorites of all time. You did have to press your head into the head rest and magically, no headache!
Amen to that. I had those "starter" earrings in my first time-the ones with the sharp points on the end-and I had two red dots behind my ear from getting stabbed.
u will LOVE it i went on it like45374 times its a long line but it moves fast! dont go with anyother persoon adn just go single it will save the wait GO IN THE FRONT thats all the tips i have have fun!!!

"its bark was worse than its bite"
If you had ridden it in 92, you definately wouldn't have said that! Before they took out that first corkscrew, its bite was WAY worse than its bark!
