I saw this movie not long after it was released, with my mother of all people. We both thought it was amazing and some of the scenes were almost too much to absorb. I never saw this trailer but while it has a great song playing, it doesn't tell you nearly enough about the movie or what you are getting yourself into.

The reason I didn't like the remakes is because they were all excellent original movies (I grew up up with them as I was born in 1962) and somehow coming out with remakes, redos, reimaginings, etc of great films never sat well with me. Just my pov.

No, I would not consider "Videodrome" torture porn even though that element played an important part in the film, the movie itself was concerned more with mind control, conspiracy, reality, and comfort zones (sexual comfort zones especially) and pushing personal boundaries of ethics and morality. "Hostel" and more especially "Saw" had the torture porn elements more central to them than did "Videodrome".

@Johnlindsey289 I wasn't too impressed with Corneberg's remake of "The Fly" as the original starring Vincent Price was very well done and certainly didn't need remaking - try getting a hold of the short story the film was based on by George Langelaan which is available in a number of science fiction/horror story collections. However, I enjoyed John Carpenter's remake of "The Thing" as it was well done and much truer to the novella than the original film was.

@Johnlindsey289 Okay, each version of "The Fly" had its attributes both good and bad depending on one's likes and dislikes.

I'm not a fan of torture porn. The first "Saw" had merit as its shock value and "Twilight Zone"-ish ending really made you think in spite of the overpowering visceralness of it but the following "Saw" films were too formulaic. Films such as "Hostel" and "Hostel 2" were just too disturbing and gory for my tastes.
