It's really nothing amazing, you're all just saying this because of what he is now. If he took a huge shit you'd be impressed. Matt has a musical drive, which is what made him a success. He plays the piano and brings it to the guitar (which can do 10x more things a piano can). I love Muse, and yes he was a very good piano player at that age but nothing ridiculously amazing.

A guitar can do a TON more than the piano, yes I do know from guitar/piano players. You can play the same note, same key in the guitar more than 2x on the guitar. A piano can only play the note once.
