  • When I see that, I'm proud of beinf french.

  • This guy is just way too awesome!

  • He is still just about the only guy that can hang right up there with Guthrie technically, but I feel he has a lot more creativity and pure musicality than Govan, and that's saying something.

  • Oh please let this be my destiny...To become as good as Christophe D=

  • He don't flies on guitar,he PLAYS with the guitar

And that's what i call swagga and he's fly to

  • Esse e um verdadeiro guitarrista n essas merdas q tem por ai

  • fuck!!!this is an underrated guitarist

  • @metalstylex He's not underrated at all. He's just not as famous as the American or British guitar freaks because he comes from France and because he doesn't care for the international media. Maybe a shame, maybe good reasons. Who knows ?

  • Ze French Guitar Hero =)

  • watching him play that was qute amazing i must say....namm is a fuckig blast if u can get in.

  • i went to the 2007 namm show (my first namm show) as a keyboard player...... my dad was able to get us passes. and i saw many guitar booths and guys just ripping..... i quit the keyboard and got a guitar. ive been playing for 2 years now and i love it!!! 2007 namm was my insparation to start playing guitar XD!!!!!!!!

  • The song is 'totale bricole' from Morglbl's album Grotesk. How can someone write that there is zero emotion in Godin's playing?

  • Quality.

  • i wish i was cool

  • Some things he plays reminds a lot of Richie Kotzen... Really great stuff.

  • i've got that pickguard on my vigier

    mmmm vigiiiiier

  • alright..

  • I wouldn't mind playing that "boring"

  • I've seen some of his vids. on YouTube, the guy is freakin' awesome!

  • What an incredible guitarist!

  • nice solo

  • he good remember me of steve vai. CTROCK THE HIP HOP ROCK GUITAR ARTIST

  • Music is not competition, it is pleasure.

    So Good C. Godin !

  • Fantastic ...

  • Those who speak about too much note per minute makes me laugh here.

Do you really listen to this solo ?

Keep in mind music is not about speed or not, just about expression and feeling.

And in that staff you could hear some pretty modal sounds and melodic licks, linked by a fabulous technique.

What do you want anymore ? you guys r haters

  • You know what make me laugh most is that kind of people can accept virtuosity on keyuboard for the piano player, and on violin , sax etc but not guitar; specially electric one have to stay to prehistoric level, no chance to level up, poor instrument guys think rock'n roll is a guy under drug strummin chord in the wrong way... fuck them! Hendrix up there should very disappointed...

  • wat the hell is fleg talking about hendrix is even slower than chris

  • That's a beautiful guitar.

  • h3 s0 7074ly pwn3d 7h47 gui74r.... all i can say is.... shreddability much?

  • Word. :p

  • Mad skillz...

  • he is amazingly good, not one more shredder... that guitar has soul

  • @jackbutler22

I got more soulful shredders for you

Matthias Eklundh, Andy Timmons, Paul Gilbert, Kiko Loureiro

  • id take jimi or pagey over these kind of guys anyday...its all ni the soul

  • I love Hendrix and Page, fuckin love em, but this guy has em beat hands down. Doesn't take soul to figure out a no-brainer!

  • What do you mean "beat"? Is music a competition?

  • Everything is competition you hippie.

  • Haha, no. That's a ridiculous statement, and I hope you know why.

  • Because you canät compeat in music, do only thing you can measure from a scale 1-10 is technique, in we all know that a good guitarist needs more than technique.

  • You can compete in music. Battle of the bands, American Idol, drum offs and spin offs. Even the world of classical music has their version of the Oscars. Well crafted music, at least western music, has structure and predictability. You can anticipate the next chord in new songs you hear and know on which note to end your guitar solo. Anybody can be a successful artist, we are all born capable. It's the drive and dedication that makes truly great artists and that is quantifiable as TECHNIQUE.

  • Yes, that´s all true.

But, somebody have to be the judge. 100 years ago, in western music, it was unthinkable to end a song on a minor chord.

Just like diminshed chords today, they are just "passing" chord --> leading somewere.

All modern west scale, is built off how we listen. Do you know why the 7 chord came decades before maj7 chord?

because of the flagollete scale, when a instrument is tuned clean. in that scale, it´s the 7 you hear.

The way we listen to music changes.

  • So who can decide the ultimate song?

  • I don't know, I can only help you determine the ultimate guitarist.

  • Ultimately music is a form of communication. And as western societies become more and more relax and casual our music is reflecting that, that is true with all forms of communication.

  • So are you saying something like that a fast guitarist is better than an slow guitarist?

  • watch full video... : Improvisation Christophe Godin

  • Good thing this isnt a chick flick.

  • what are you blind? O_O

  • it's not because t's fast that there is no emotion, he put so much feeling on it and have so good vibrato...

  • Nossa que destruiçãooo esse Godin é fera d++! Alegria, feeling e muita pegada! Sou fã desse cara!! ^^

  • Christophe...one of the true greats!!!

    What more can be said???

  • Hey! Aint that Mr. Fastfinger??

  • Noo, Mika Tyyskä is Mr.Fastfinger. He's from finland.

  • Proof that old guys can rock, kick ass, and have fun doing it. I dig his vibe..he's not just a speed merchant. I like the no-compromise take no prisoners approach he has on display.

    ~ Jonny o

  • old guys...............lol

  • i think more important than all of the comments about speed/tone etc below...is that this guy is having some fun!

  • Nossa sou fã desse cara o cara toca muito!!Detona no feeling e na técnica!!Que solo bom de se ouvir radical mesmo!!!!

  • Those who speak about too much note per minute makes me laugh here.

Do you really listen to this solo ?

What do you want anymore ?

  • excatcly

  • honestly...the whole fast thing guys...that whole thing was not fast...I actually thought that he had quite a bit of slower stuff in there...I thought it was a pretty even solo of speed, technicality, and feeling. Kudos from me anyway

  • stevie rays my idol

  • sure are lots of notes in there. If fast is good then he is good. only takes about 15 seconds of shred to prove your point that you CAN shred though. Albert King told Stevie Ray to "say it all with one note". Dont think this guy could do that.

  • Agreed. There is something to be said for slowing down. This guy has great technique, and an abundance of chops, but his playing seems to be a bit self-indulgent. I would like to hear him slow down and build up his solos. Best advice I ever got, "don't blow your wad all up front".

  • If you could play like that, you would. That's number 1. Second, mere jealousy doesn't help. He was doing a presentation; a clinic, whatever. He has one beat, a fast one, and he was abusing every scale/techinique he could to fit within the time signature. Maybe he should've done a ballad? Because I have heard him do those, they are on Vai level.

Don't denegrate his talent, if you do you are merely lying to yourself.

    Later.

  • Check out my videos by Michael Gregory. They are a perfect example of a guy that CAN play fast...but doesn't need to in order to sound excellent. Michael is a studio pro that plays every style from shred to chicken pickin.

  • Yeah, that guy has great fluidity--and nearly no excess slop--to his playing. He's really good, I agree.

  • He's also an excellent teacher...just ask Frank Hannon and Tommy Skeoch of Tesla. A big thing that he preaches is that playing guitar is not an Olympic Sport, or a competition of speed. If it were, Christophe would be a world class competitor.

  • That is true. There is a lot to be said about phrasing and tastefulness.

However, he is quite talented. I think people often expect to much from guitar players. Some are just weekend warriors who become very good; he is still an excellent fusion player.

But yeah, I like your guy.

  • I completely agree that Christophe is a great fusion player. And I do like fusion rock. Actually, much of Michael's original stuff is in that vein. He had a song called Vermicula Polky on Guitar On The Edge Vol. 3 that is along those lines. I can send you a link if you're interested.

  • PLEASE DO

  • sublimissime !

  • bravo christophe godin super comme d'hab un exemple ce mec et pis cool en +, OVATION(pas la marque 1!!!!!!!)

  • This guy is decent. I can think of one thing that could make him better though: Superpowers. Other than that, I'm not sure how he could be much sicker.
