"the Beast" as it is named is only a gas guzzler because of it's size and horsepower necessary to lug around all that metal in the doors that keep that car impenetrable. Unless someone is directly assaulting it with and ied placed below it or a rocket from above you aren't getting in. It's not pompous arrogance that he has such a large car, but protection. Rather, the limos and the Secret Service vehicles and even the Presidential chopper(s), Marine One (if needed) are flown in - in advance by Air Force cargo planes like the C17 Globemaster.

Keep in mind that because of the weight of the car there are only a few places it can go where the distribution is right. The problem is that this area really isn't a good place to store the car. The only practical places one could put it is in the very rear or front of the plane, and both would cause the plane to lose air very quickly.

The DTS limos look stupid...the new one that Obama has looks cool but I never see him using it. Most times when they show him, he is in one of those funny looking DTSs....Really a Limo should be a rear wheel drive vehicle....should have used Lincoln Town Cars....little did anyone know when they built the Caddy that Obama would have to bail out the maker of his limo...probably did it to be sure he could get parts!!! The 2006 and 2001 DTS Presidential limousines used by Bush were also called "Beasts". And this is the 2009 one designed for Obama. You can tell by the front grille. But the 2006 limo serves as a back-up in the motorcade, in case there is a problem with the primary.

The limo shown in the video above is in fact the 2006 DTS that was used during the 2nd term of the Bush administration. You can tell from the grille and the rims that it isn't the 2009 model. The Obama administration only uses the 2009 DTS on home soil and use the 2006 model on overseas trips.
