I "liked" this, but only because they don't have "love" button... That's my kind of commute -- who could sit in their cars watching you pass them every day and not see the insanity of driving. You ride like I do.. no rules but right of way and getting there...cheers. I noticed you ride on the left -- do British bikes have the drive train on the left as well? xD
Excellent, am moving to London soon, and Will definitely use my bicycle as a form of transportation. Any advice for newbie commuters in the quite scary massive London?!
I love the part @ 3:30 where the white van lunges past you only to stop 10 yards ahead at a red light, then you take your position in the advanced stop line in front of him :)
LOL! It is pretty satisfying passing that many cars. I feel sorry for the drivers being stuck in traffic like that though, rotten. It's a pity more of them don't cycle, there would be fewer traffic jams, better traffic flow and more fit healthy people.
Thanks! I'm on the right because it's mostly safer to overtake than it is to undertake. Passengers get out on the left, and car drivers don't expect to be undertaken.
As for being well out to the right, that's also correct cycling and motorcycling practice. It's so you have a good view of pedestrians crossing through stopped cars, amongst other things. I believe it's taught in the CBT too.
no matter what i can't my head around this whole driving/riding on the left thing i.e. i can't predict the traffic patterns, moves. for example, when that bus swings around that corner at 00:25 i would have panicked instantly. plus passing traffic on the right totally freaks me out. i would die on my first day riding a bike in the uk.
Very interesting video. I commute to work on my bicycle. Does look like cycling is quicker to work judging by the amount of traffic you have passed. Thanks for uploading!
Yes, I'm not always overtaking this much traffic, this was rush hour at about 08.30 on a Thursday. On quiet Sunday mornings it is slightly quicker by car at about 50 minutes versus 55 minutes by bike. On a busy day it can take 2 hours or more by car. The train is probably quickest, especially on the way home when I'm usually a little slower.
I like the bike because it's quick, reliable, fun, and good exercise. The environmental thing is a bonus, but not why I ride.
I was sh*t-scared of cycling in London - until I tried it.
So much fun at the start and end of each working day! Can thoroughly recommend it...

This is outstanding! If you ride a bike here in the streets of São Paulo/Brazil like that you die in half a minute! I want to move to London!

Here it's the original Spesh Langster, fixed wheel road bike. I normally ride a lowracer recumbent though.

That's rule no. 1, that is. Always overtake a cyclist, no matter how stupid, pointless, or dangerous.
I enjoyed the queue of traffic waiting for him to join it after the lights, mind!!

I can't believe how narrow the lanes are. Either way, great way to get around!

Why is the video so wavy? Kinda makes it hard to watch; I don't usually get motion sickness but this is getting me there. Sorry, no offense meant.

Yup, sorry, it's a "feature" of the camera I'm using. High speed and quick scene changes aren't dealt with as well.

Haha, that would make this video interesting to watch while tripping.

Looks like the way to get around over there. IF fun laughing at all those people in cars when you pass them up.

The bus at 00:25 looks incredibly close, but the camera makes things ahead of you look closer than they are.
