  • Not much of a country fan outside of Patsy, but I have always loved this song. Man can he play that fiddle :-)

  • rocking that keyboard in a cast, like a boss

  • Only number 27?? number 1 I say!

  • The cats are going to georgia tonight to bring home a win. Go cats

  • 31 people made a bet... and lost :)

  • Did anyone notice the piano player is only using one arm.

  • old but fucken brilliant

  • back when people who sung country were actually from the south

  • i didn't know the real version its like that very cool

  • Dudes this is seriously seriously cool....

  • i think the Guitar Hero version is better.

  • Tu obywatele z Polski, przejmujemy TO!!!

  • Whoa, that guy on the keyboard looks like the Keith moon of keyboards! Drunk or not I'm playn' this sombitch. Love it!

  • thats right cdb, kick the devils ass!

  • Lol. he still sounds like him. he played on CBS or some news place..lol..this song..and he's old and STILL good as he was in this one. same violin too..

  • I can listen to this over and over ! Love it . . .

  • Excellent......excellent.......excellent

  • go saxophones.it would be awesome if i could play this on my sax.2 bad

  • The Dubliners should definitely do a cover of this. With John's fiddle wizardry and Barney's godlike banjo skills, they'd do a really good job of it.

  • Once i rode a roller coaster called "Rip, Ride, Rockit" at Universal Studios in Orlando, FL and you could pick a song to play while you were riding and i picked this one...i have to say this song was timed perfectly with that roller coaster. on the drops the fiddle was doing its thing and it was definatly worth waiting 2 hours :)

  • i love this song just not when some 1 does a remix charlie is the best

  • I first heard this song in its "clean" version, and I have to say I think Johnny saying "you son of a gun" rhymes better than "you son of a bitch".

'Cause the way I pronounce "gun" is a lot like the 'o' in "once".

    Am I alone :[

  • @LtSurge659 but likewise 'bitch' stands out more and helps get the power across.

  • I like the country musisic so much!

    They are great!

  • I told you once you you son of a bitch I'm the best there's ever been.

  • just played this new years eve, loved it....

  • I can play this on my saxophone.

  • Best song ever made with a fiddle it still kick ass in 2011 and 2012

  • @Understanding252 Wow. My granny came from over there and played several instruments without any lessons and kicked Satans ass. She kicked everyones ass.

  • @abby4696 ha sorry im on my lil brothers account but i still have the music for my saxophone and its a really fun song to play

  • @abby4696 i have this music for my saxophone its really fun to play

  • haha one of the band of demons has a broken arm

  • awesome funk guitar in the Devil's band

  • this song appeals to all music lovers

  • @MrSct1976 i really cant tell if thats true because i like all types except for 101.3 songs and stuff like that

  • it would be cool if i could play this on my saxophone

  • @abby4696 i wish i could play sax, but its not really made for playing fast is it? or is that just a question of practice?

  • @astorpolsen It's much easier to play fast on a sax or a clarinet than a violin. Just press a key and tap your tongue against the reed if you don't want legato.

  • @astorpolsen Yes sax it's for playing whatever the f you want bro, it's awesome, and this song isn't too difficult, just as abby said, it takes practice and practice, like everything in this world :), maybe i upload a video, maybe not lol (not much time in my hands)

  • @astorpolsen yeah sax can be played super fast... check out any jazz. like charlie parker.

  • My dad told my some old things people use to do in his days my dad was born in1914 and people use to talk about a cross road and he say they didnt know how to play but after they come back they play like hell he never seen it before one of his brothers did it he could not play nonething dad said he came back playing all

  • my mom thoght this song was "bad ass'

  • @YouCool007 I like your mom

  • i remember when the song won song writer of the year charly sead the writer was 15 years old thats amazing but what was his name

  • The Devil Went Down To Georgia... and Mairead Nesbitt kicked his ***!!! Just youtube search... Celtic Woman, Believe, The Foxhunter ... Hold onto your hat at the 1:25 mark, this Irish fiddler took the gold fiddle, not Johnny!

  • @William2020a William - You are so right! I saw Celtic Woman for the first time in Wichita Falls a couple months ago - AWESOME! Mairead is incredible!

  • Well this is it. Isn't it. That sound Out Of The West Texas Town of El Paso is gone. The Cashs, Robinson, Marylands, Pattsy Kline, and Willie Nelsons of the world are over. No it's not there still are the Dixie chicks You Were Mine right up there. But................there is this gap between it. Go back country....Go back soul..these artist did not have anything to compare to. turn it off write it yourself. write it yourself be it yourself..and don't listen to anyone..because you own it.

  • R.I.P. Joe Taz DiGregorio. I just read about your passing. I grew up listening to country music and this was one of my favorites. You will be missed Joe but not forgotten.

  • Does anyone have the video of his Solid Gold appearance? That was the fcking shit!

  • Excelente video-edición.

Te felicito! Hiciste un buen trabajo para este gran clásico.

    Excellent video-edition.

Congratulations! Well done, good job for this great classic song.

  • whats the point in putting up a live version if its the video of a live performance with the studio version audio dubbed over it? -.-

  • Very inspurity,

  • this is really live? -.-

  • @jeanzeeera yeah it sounds like the studio version doesn't it? plus at the end he said something but you couldn't hear it.

  • damn! i watched the other video and though it was badass, but now now watched this vid w/ them in their prime and wow this is even more badass.

  • man that band knows how to play some serrious ass kicking country music.

  • i love this song even today everyone knows this song by heart:)

  • ...I'm telling you this once...you son of a bitch...that's probably the best thing that there's ever been...

    That probably didn't work...Meh, don't give a crap.

    It stills rocks.

  • i love this song like if u agree

  • PENE

    JAJAJAJAJAJAJA

  • Nice !!

  • It's a fiddle

  • At 1:34 I was expecting smoke to start coming out of his violin.

  • I find it funny some people are arguing that the devil's tune was better because no mortal could be a divine being. Y'all realize the devil himself didn't actually play that part of the song, right? The devil's part was in fact played by a mortal man because I think the devil had better things to do than play in the recording studio that day.

You think that might have something to do with why Johnny won?

  • awesome song , !!!!!!

  • RIP...Tom & TAZ .....You will missed alot!

  • I think this a good pearly gates theme

  • lol "Granny does your dog bite?"

    "No child, no"

  • played this song on cello, still love it.

  • @SRR023 sounds difficult

  • @astorpolsen ha, a bit xD the violins did most of it, i did the background and the demon's solo.

  • Some awesome double-stopping going on there.... what a band!

  • This is on guitar hero??? Huh... I had no clue. Now I wanna buy guitar hero... lol

  • I hate people who only like songs because it was on guitar hero.

  • the show i was going to tomorrow is canceled do to the keyboard players death...on his way to the concert... RIP

  • unreal that man can sure as hell play that fiddle

  • R.I.P. Joel "Taz" DiGregorio

  • RIP Taz DiGregorio, keyboard player and founding member of the CDB. Killed last night, Oct 12 in a single car crash while driving to meet the tour bus. Please send prayers to his family and friends. He will be sorely missed.

  • I love this song!!!!!

  • This is the studio version dubbed on this live video. But the music on this vid IS NOT LIVE it IS the studio version

  • This is one of Charlie D's best live versions I think.

  • The devil hardly played. it was all the demons, yo.

  • his bow wasn;t tight enoughf but it was amazin

  • For the 24 people who disliked the video....

Look at the Dislike bar at the part

    now look in your pants

now look back at the red bar

    now look down your pants..

    There the Same Size

  • The Devil non ecziste!!

  • First Off ...You're all wrong...

    1. KandJHorrordotcom -you think the devils part sounds better but you still support Johnny????? Good we don't want or need your kind. Go on now little sheep I think your zombie Shepard dude is lookin fer ya.

    2. There are so many holes in Johnny's recollection that I could pick it apart line by line,15 ways to Sunday and PROVE not only is Johnny talent-less, but a bold face liar. And if you care to be enlightened...let me know.

    3. I could go on for days...

  • @24932tj8 You're just as bad as everyone else. If you were so above it all, you'd realize that it's just a song and you really shouldn't care.

  • @24932tj8 Also, who said that Johnny was recalling this song? Maybe it's a narration of what's going on. Better yet, maybe it's just a song.

  • this makes me proud to live in the south!

  • zajebiste ....:)

  • amazing

  • I love the "son of a bitch" version

  • @KandJHorrordotcom that was long and random, but i agree with most of what you said

  • @astorpolsen i would love to see a animation version of the song that would be great a 2D animation of a boy named jhony playing his fittel and the devil coming in scene and they have their war of songs

  • @astorpolsen So what parts of that didn't you agree with?

  • @KandJHorrordotcom Johnny didn't beat the devil, his FAITH did. If you bet against the devil, AND have faith in god, you will always win.

  • @ENTERtheCREATOR Fairy tales. Just like god.

  • @ENTERtheCREATOR Nobody is discussing who's faith won. The discussion is who's bit was better. Keep it on the level, eh?

  • @ENTERtheCREATOR I'm not religious by any means but wouldn't his faith tell him to show humility rather than pride?

@KandJhorrordotcom Also the devil has good background music but the actual fiddle playing is supposed to be more of a hissing or screeching sound where as Johnny's is clean and precise. Also if you noticed the background music for the devil overshadows that of his fiddle while the background for Johnny's backs off so that we can hear his part.

  • @Ryusoshi Okay, the devil's FIDDLE playing wasn't very good and Johnny's was amazing, but you think the devil won...a few conflicting interests there huh? Plus, you never know what's TRULY AND RIGHTEOUSLY good, you just go with your faith and live your life.

  • @ENTERtheCREATOR Wow avoiding my question huh? Also I believe the Devil lost, as well as the only conflicting interest that I have is that you didn't even attempt to answer my question.

  • @Ryusoshi I did answer, you weren't listening for MY answer, but rather for the answer you were expecting.

  • @ENTERtheCREATOR First off I can't listen to your answer given that your response is in the form of text, but if i had a text to speech program I would be capable of such feat. Also I did read your answer; it shows that I am neither blind nor illiterate. Second if your answer is the "TRULY AND RIGHTEOUSLY good" part then that does not constitute as an answer but rather a train of thought of how views may differ. My question targets the idea of humility and pride. Not how things can be perceived.

  • @Ryusoshi Can't they be the same?

  • @ENTERtheCREATOR The base concepts of humility and pride are taught by the various sects of religion and is the view of the teachers; however yours is of a personal ideal. In a clearer form think of it as "church=general statement" that a religion follows while yours is the individual. Overall your answer is more ideal in terms of how religion and various things should be viewed, but there are few who both acknowledge this and try to convince others of the idea of free thinking within religion.

  • Although thinking and religion tend to not mix as the logic within religion is circular.

  • @Ryusoshi How exactly would you go about expressing humility around the devil?

  • @ENTERtheCREATOR Well if you were to show humility around the devil in that scenario it would just be walking away without saying any thing or possibly offering his god the fiddle. Though it would be humility it would make the story being told really shitty.

  • @KandJHorrordotcom that was the gayest response to anything i have ever heard

  • @KandJHorrordotcom I kinda thought so too, that the devil's part sounds better. But I still support Jhonny XD

  • @KandJHorrordotcom

yo if you think about it, thats not satan, thats just one of the few million demons in hell.

What? You thought that satan would be able to do everything himself? Of course not, thats why there are devils that help the demon.

  • @KandJHorrordotcom that's the awesome part man... an earthling had beaten the devil... if it was about johny beating another really good fiddle player this song wouldn't be epic -.- hercules destroyed the hydra and that thing had a gazzillion heads so...

  • @KandJHorrordotcom Who cares? Just enjoy the music...

  • @KandJHorrordotcom thats a matter of opinion opinion is belief and personally i dont belive that there is a devil maybe a demon or to causing havok but with no devil theres nothing to best its a song of course its almost make belive

  • @KandJHorrordotcom You realize that the Devil was not the one playing the fiddle during that segment? It was still Daniels. So you're saying he beat himself? I mean it's his song, it's not a Charlie Daniels and Satan duo... In conclusion; you're a jackass.

  • @KandJHorrordotcom this is a SONG this isn't literal. chill

  • @KandJHorrordotcom you dont know unless if you were his bitch

  • @KandJHorrordotcom I've heard in interviews that the devil lsot because he really didn't have a melody. It sounds better because "a band of demons joined in". Johnny had a better melodic line. It also honestly sounds like he played better, in my opinion.

  • @KandJHorrordotcom i know of an earthling creating the devil so why not as well beat him

  • @KandJHorrordotcom Hah, good points, but that's why God had to do it! :D

  • @KandJHorrordotcom Are you a devil worshiper?

  • PRO

  • it doesnt even sound live

  • 23 people lost their soul to THE DEVIL!!!

  • I dont really like country, but i somehow love this song

  • The devil made 23 accounts to dislike this.

  • 1:37 - I've never seen anybody move their hand that fast playing the violin!

  • @mikesb69 its a fiddle not a violin

  • @MiNeCrap19791 OMG-

  • @mikesb69 what

  • Ummm...this isn't live - they're syncing to the studio track. Just sayin'.

  • 23 people lost to the devil.

  • Lol this is pur fail compared to GHIII version

  • @xXmoptop100Xx Apparently you lost your ears to the devil.

  • @xXmoptop100Xx you would have no GH crap if it weren't for ORIGINAL greats like this. Try playing a REAL instrument while reading Real Music Sheets, not color coded waves. GH's only real upside is that it promotes and exposes a new generation to music that they may not otherwise listen to, aka "your parent's/grandparents music."

  • @xXmoptop100Xx

    Suck a DICK

  • @CJSWEET17 suck a block got bad manner

  • guys playing with one hand..

  • Shit, if there is anything better than THAT, I ain't heard it..

  • Oh wait I remember.. Pantera did do it ALMOST on they're track "I'll Cast a Shadow."

  • and the bass line during when the "devil" plays is HEAVY!! Even though it's a bit disco sounding, I'm surprised Pantera didn't cover it..

  • I saw this live a few years back! It was amazing!

  • 1:29 the guy is playing a piano while wearing a cast like A BOSS

  • @ghmasterjj LIKE A FUCKING BOSS

  • @ghmasterjj RIP. he just died in a car accident.

  • @krelbar RIP the piano player.. *he was a boss*

  • CD playing it HOT!

  • I don't get it. Why did the Devil play fair?

  • @Nuille

    Maybe Because I'm Right Here

  • PROPS to the the broken armed piano player just WORKIN up a sweat bahahha

  • YEAH DEVIL YOU COME BACK AND THIS TIME JONNY WILL TAKE YOUR SOUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @parowanfans101

    I Already Did

  • If you first heard this on guitar hero, don't you dare touch that thumbs up button.

  • i sang this all the time when i was a kid 3 - 11

  • pure talent...

  • mah dad said he can fart the song xD

  • This is what "Made in America" is about! What an American Icon! And yes he can play a mean fiddle!

  • I NEED TO LEARN TO PLAY THIS ON MY FIDDLE.

  • 1:29 That's right. One handed, playing that keyboard.

  • @Aladeiadora225 talk about dedication

  • I heard that song back in the 1980s on WGBS.

  • YEEHAW!!
