Thanks for the posting this clip. I forgot Rayburn thanked the writers by name at the end of the show. I was so surprised I almost spilled my _____________.
I wonder if they could do the same thing today, ie, dropping the balloons and streamers over the audience. In 1974, game show audiences could still be trusted to conduct themselves with decorum and not go nuts. Sadly, I'm not sure you could count on that today. I'm not even sure the shows' insurers would allow them to try that today.
@llbrno84 TBS wanted to revive it and even bought this set for the revival except the prizes were going to be, "100 times that amount" for 10,000, 25000, or 50k. They decided against it but if we petition or something I am sure it will be revived. We just have to fight for a GOOD MC! And make sure they're as crazy and lovable as Gene. I love you Gene, oh God I actually am crying :P
@llbrno84 This show was never truly about the money, it was about just goofing off and having a good time. The charisma of this show could never truly be revived, unfortunately. Today's times are way too uptight about smoking and drinking (which were happening on this show).

Thanks to GSN for cutting the party short on this clip! The way they are now, I don't see too many happy new years in their future!

If CBS/NBC/Cable revives Match Game, they need to
1. Have the signchange come back after 30 or so years
2. Have a chance to win $1,000,000
Also it should be titled What the Blank!
