  • Great video brought back many happy memories

  • What a great actor he was, thanks for posting these gems, I had a great laugh!

  • Quality writing.........

  • roses are blue

    violets are camel

    this poem makes no sense

    microwave :)

  • @The15Clarke No.

  • @The15Clarke Hahaahahaahahahha!!!

  • Never liked Frazer very much

  • @haantje68 No way! Jones was the most annoying one. The rest were wonderfully observed.

  • Great video. Absolutely hilarious.

  • flags at half mast for jimmy perry.....what a sad loss and a great talent they dont make like that anymore.....rest in peace jimmy.

  • @sandra15606 I think you mean David Croft, who died yesterday. RIP David and thank you for the laughter.

  • John Laurie was a great shakespeare actor and it shows when he is given these monologues to do

  • Absolutely brilliant

  • I also love the look Frazier has after words like he knows the story he told about his friend with the stolen ruby and the resulting curse was lame.

  • Awesome when Frazier tells ghost stories it is like comedy horror. I love the story when he recounts his friend that only lived to the age of 86 after years before stealing a ruby, and being cursed.

  • He's spooky when he stares, adds to the spookiness

  • Ach - the Radio version of the giant squid story is much better....

    cheers for this though :-)

  • @david552 Completely agree. Prefered the lighthouse story though. "Trying to get in!" still gives me the shivers

  • One Of My Favourite Frazer Ghost Stories !

  • Pure unadulterated brilliance.

  • So i take it you have a diving suit Frazer. Classic.!

  • I love it how all of a sudden they all gather in to listen.. LOL.

  • Arthur Lowe's weary expression at tht end of "The Diving Suite" is brilliant - had me in tears.

  • The Auld Empty Barn is my favourite! I laugh every time!! Thank you for taking the time to compile these moments, and for saving the best for last. xx

  • Frazer was brilliant, no one tell's a ghost story like him, him and his eyes.

  • The portrayal is scarily accurate.Storytelling is part of the Scots tradition-especially scary stories!.

  • @ShowYourWorking

It's funniest when it gets serious. The unspoken understanding that hangs over the proceedings like the cloak of doom is that, if the Germans invade, the job of the Home Guard is to serve as cannon fodder to slow Hitler's Stormtroopers. That kinda, sorta adds a bit of edge to the humor.

  • Aye laddie! Many a hairy haggis has been frozen with fear on hearing Fraser's tales of spooks 'n' ghouls !

    Great vid !!

  • Dads army is the best of the best. I have the DVD set and watch them all the time. Frazers storys are classic and just get better and better the more you hear them. My fave characters are all of them.

  • sharing for ghost stories on my blog ;)_

  • One of the wonderful "old" shows of the Beeb. I first saw them in the late sixties. Proper comedy this was, clean and witty. Not like the rubbish they churn out these days. (with maybe a few exceptions, though)

  • John Laurie... Quality...also good stuff in the Barn sequence...Perry and Croft played to the expectations....

  • "Diving for perals" and "trrrrrrrrryan to get an". Great Fraser moments.

  • Frazers monologues were brillaint. Great character.

  • The Auld Empty Barn...

  • genius

  • Brilliant

  • A story told by a mad pessimistic Scotsman is the best kind.

  • The best tv serie ever ... thanks for posting.

    Hans

    Amsterdam

  • The 'Tale Of The Ruby' is an all time classic. If you don't find it funny (not just the tale but the performance) then cancel you're career as a comedian.

  • Brilliant acting.

No need for laxatives in his house.

He just sat all the kids on potties and told em ghost stories, LOL

  • Got to love the reaction to the Squid story.....

  • Trebloodymendous. Just fabulous.

  • Nice video but I wish you had added my favourite Frazer story - the one about the lighthouse keepers who become trapped and go mad. "Mad. MAD!!"

  • I love it how his stories start off sounding genuine then somewhere along the way veer into the bizarre- "an ther was Wully, wrestlin with a giant squid!!!"

  • You know Wilson. Over the years I've come to know the members of this platoon, I've grown quite fond of them. But I can't help feeling that sometimes I'm in charge of a bunch of idiots.

    :-)

  • I love Godfrey's reactions after 1.20

  • John Laurie. What a Legend. Playing the stereotypical dour Scot. We're not all like that!

  • you do know it is fraser not frazer

  • @fr1695 Incorrect.

  • fantastic

  • We're all Doomed. Doomed I tell ye.

  • I'm 14 and this is old but dads army is sooooo classsss

  • there is another story he tells, about a man that sees his dead brother floating in through the lighthouse window,,can listen to Frazer all night

  • he was a shakespearen actor before this

  • classic

  • "The thing was on the other side, trying to get in, trying to get in!!"

  • 'in charge of a bunch of idiots'

that line always creases me, the guy's style and delivery, what a genius.

    cheers for posting.

  • A wild and lonely place it was......

  • jamiep73 - thanks a lot, wonderful compilation. As the septic tanks would say, "Hey like man, that was like really like AWESOME!

  • The magnificent John Laurie in action - able to act the rest of the cast off the screen if he tried and against stiff competition.

  • No-one can tell a ghost story like Private Frazer!

  • brilliant, brilliant, brilliant, i love dads army and have just bought the dvd set, a friend of mine went a gathering a few years ago and met the lady who played jones ladyfriend......mrs fox

  • "Deeeeeeeath!"

  • Brilliant!

  • There was nothing in it lol

  • Absolute class, i love dads army and i have the box set. i have uploaded dads army - the coward revue, i searched for it on youtube before uploading and couldnt find it, so watch and enjoy.

  • I love that line: "So we take it you have a diving suit."

  • The will only ever be one John Laurie

  • We need more like this genuine British Comedy! I love it!!!

  • 4:53...

  • he was a very good storyteller

  • The ruin will bring ye death! Death! Legendary stuff!!

  • Love this show. Just a bunch of daft old men playing army. Just brilliant.

  • You've missed the point. Those 'daft old men playing army' were willing to lay down their lives in the defence of the country in the face of Nazi aggression. Fortunately most of them were never asked to. Their comrades in arms in Hughes Group as the Home Guard of the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps in North Point Power Station, Hong Kong were not so lucky as many of them were killed by the Japanese.

Easy to mock when you have never had to risk your own neck.

  • @Courtmount Well... no I really haven't missed the point. I'm talking about dads army here... a sitcom.

I'm not comparing them to the regular army chum. I'm not even comparing them to the real home guard.

  • @Binfieldius On the surface it is, But there's a lot more too it than that. These are exceptional actors with great lines and real characters. Daft old men? Maybe, but they would have given Hitler a run for his money if he'd ever crossed the channel.

  • @dfarmbrough I just meant in the show :)

  • a great actor - would have loved to have seen him in Shakespeare.

  • Hahahahahaha! The Empty Barn!!! What a wonderful actor he was! - as were they all in their character parts. Sadly missed - never to be replaced

  • its his facial expressions that just do it for me........ the lighthouse one is just fantastic!!

    xD

  • Genius! Absolute genius!

  • genius stoytelling and comedy writing

  • stupid boy

  • Four classic moments. Best told in a wild and lonely place. Wilson, I don't think I can stand much more of this.

  • @sailorlunafan where did he say that?

  • LOL!! Love Dad's Army! and this was just hilarious!! Well done

  • Great Video- WELL DONE :-) Thank You!!
