@strikerk sega was just a lot better at making games than consoles... like how on the dreamcast there was no write protection so you could burn any dc game and play it for free and the handheld genesis only kept a charge for like 25 min with a full battery. Good games though, damn good

this track almost blows up my car speakes as the bass is so high one of the best tracks dam pain i not got a dream no more as the dam laser fryed. tryed cleaning and all that but was passed it's best :(

I love this track. Damn, I'm going back. The art and the musicians were what made this game. I was going to really rip Sega :) But I'll just say that they did a somewhat poor job with the execution, and especially the production, as they usually do. It's not getting any better.. I'd like to see another (LARGE! BIG BUDGET!) publisher give this a shot.

I think it was console-wise that affected the sales.
Barely anyone had a Dreamcast, and no one knew about the Xbox and it's functions back then. Plus, it was exclusive to only one console. I'm pretty sure if JSRF was also on PS2 and Gamecube, the sales would have been WAY MORE HIGHER.
The games would have to sell numerous copies in order to continue the series. If JSR sold at least a million sold instead of just thousands, we'd probably be having JSR3 right now. Like MarcusHahnemann said, if there was a new one, they would have to advertise it heavily. Grand Theft Auto was more expensive than Shenmue, but since it's a well received and recognized series, it brought more revenue than loss.

Yeah, but at the same time, EVERY gamer mag and website would be advertising the shit out a new JSR game if it was to be produced. I hope a new title does come out but I hear Nintendo dismissed the notion of one for the Wii, which it would so perfect for, for graffitti. I'm surprised no-one else has used the idea of JSR for a different game. Like the movements for graffitti etc.. Also, JSR had one of the best soundtracks of all time!
Yes, JSR seems fitted to the wii if it were to return. It was Sega that turned down the idea, probably because of it's commercial failure of the last two titles.
Same thing with Shenmue, it used to have the highest production value of any game ($70 million to make) While it did hit sales of at least a million, neither game brought in major profits. Sega would lose money if it made another sequel to either games.
Gamers bought Shenmue under the impression that the story would be finished. They should atleast make up a text ending and let us read it for free damn.
Personally, I'd rather let the story be finished with a proper sequel. A text ending should be available if they never want to continue Shenmue again. While a Shenmue sequel is improbable and expensive, it would be alot more fun if they did do it that way. Ah, if only.

@LOKIMAN07 A very good point. Nintendo is always very careful with thier core games (excluding the mario spin off games) the marios and zeldas and metroids are always masterfully put together. Sega could do a lot worse, but i'd like to see them release a new Jet Set Radio on their own.

Mario is just about rescuing the princess/saving the world/galaxy from an over sized turtle, bashing his minions, and collecting things (I.E. Shine Sprites/Stars). While Sonic is about Rescuing woodland creatures or saving the world from an overweight scientist... mostly it comes down to the fan base... Sonic's is severely broken, Mario's isn't; Nintendo knows what it's fans want, Sega doesn't due to their fans diversity.
@Jeff0909090 Your comparison to Sonic and Mario is void. Sonic is always essentially always running around and collecting things (coins, emeralds). The story means little in both games due to their genre and simplicity. So it all boils to gameplay. Mario wins. Simple. Sonic has no edge over Mario nowadays. And the fact that Sonic has gotten more and more cinematic, only destroys the character further and makes him corney.
@LOKIMAN07 I don't think you realize that Sonic was meant to be played in a 2D enviroment. They tried to bring the 2D obstacles into 3D which quite frankly just doesn't work. Contrary to what you stated in your other comment however, Sonic holds a ton of nostalgia value for those of us who grew up when Sonic was IT. Games, cartoons, toys and merchandise. So much Sonic it would make you puke. I still play Sonic 2 once in a while JUST for the sake of nostalgia.

So many people are begging Sega to make another Jet Set Radio. When will Sega learn that this is what the people want? And this is a great song. A good 4 minutes of solid Jet Set style music.

I still play JSRF up to this day. I just finished a few hours ago[Im on the sewer level atm,Yano, With the switches] I have had this since I was like Idk.. 9? And I still play it and im 17. Ehh, not PSP, for the same reason it shouldn't be on the DS.
It's too full of a game to be on handhelds.
It should also be compatible with Project Natal and Playstation Move, while that subject is up.

I think it was console-wise that affected the sales.
Barely anyone had a Dreamcast, and no one knew about the Xbox and it's functions back then. Plus, it was exclusive to only one console. I'm pretty sure if JSRF was also on PS2 and Gamecube, the sales would have been WAY MORE HIGHER.

The games would have to sell numerous copies in order to continue the series. If JSR sold at least a million sold instead of just thousands, we'd probably be having JSR3 right now. Like MarcusHahnemann said, if there was a new one, they would have to advertise it heavily. Grand Theft Auto was more expensive than Shenmue, but since it's a well received and recognized series, it brought more revenue than loss.

Yeah, but at the same time, EVERY gamer mag and website would be advertising the shit out a new JSR game if it was to be produced. I bought it for the Dreamcast way back when, and could not believe how amazing it was despite the lack of media attention. This time around, it would be hyped up the fuck.

I hope a new title does come out but I hear Nintendo dismissed the notion of one for the Wii, which it would so perfect for, for graffitti. I'm surprised no-one else has used the idea of JSR for a different game. Like the movements for graffitti etc.. Also, JSR had one of the best soundtracks of all time!

Yes, JSR seems fitted to the wii if it were to return. It was Sega that turned down the idea, probably because of it's commercial failure of the last two titles.

Same thing with Shenmue, it used to have the highest production value of any game ($70 million to make) While it did hit sales of at least a million, neither game brought in major profits. Sega would lose money if it made another sequel to either games.

Personally, I'd rather let the story be finished with a proper sequel. A text ending should be available if they never want to continue Shenmue again. While a Shenmue sequel is improbable and expensive, it would be alot more fun if they did do it that way. Ah, if only.

I dunno. The question is what quality of Jet Set Radio game will we get out of the current Sega. Would they give us the great Jet Set sequel we want ,or a rush job to move a few units and make profit. I've kinda lost faith in Sega. They can't even get Sonic right at the moment.

not true. even so. if nintendo did own sonic as a character they'd use him better. mario games are always well programmed and keep true to the original games. something sega can't seem 2 grasp. sonic lacks nostalgia and competent character designers. look how well nintendo did on sonics animation and background in smash bros. for reference...

@LOKIMAN07 A very good point. Nintendo is always very careful with thier core games (excluding the mario spin off games) the marios and zeldas and metroids are always masterfully put together. Sega could do a lot worse, but i'd like to see them release a new Jet Set Radio on their own.

Now I won't deny that not all of the new sonic games weren't that good, but Sonic and Sega all stars racing is good. I prefer it over mario kart.

Anyway, I grew up on Sonic and Mario, and Sega is nolonger as great as they once were. Period. To deny that is to spit in the face of their former glory. i ain't a Nintendo fanboy, nor do I think Sega sucks. But I'm a realest...

Mario is just about rescuing the princess/saving the world/galaxy from an over sized turtle, bashing his minions, and collecting things (I.E. Shine Sprites/Stars). While Sonic is about Rescuing woodland creatures or saving the world from an overweight scientist... mostly it comes down to the fan base... Sonic's is severely broken, Mario's isn't; Nintendo knows what it's fans want, Sega doesn't due to their fans diversity.

@Jeff0909090 Your comparison to Sonic and Mario is void. Sonic is always essentially always running around and collecting things (coins, emeralds). The story means little in both games due to their genre and simplicity. So it all boils to gameplay. Mario wins. Simple. Sonic has no edge over Mario nowadays. And the fact that Sonic has gotten more and more cinematic, only destroys the character further and makes him corney.

@LOKIMAN07 I don't think you realize that Sonic was meant to be played in a 2D enviroment. They tried to bring the 2D obstacles into 3D which quite frankly just doesn't work. Contrary to what you stated in your other comment however, Sonic holds a ton of nostalgia value for those of us who grew up when Sonic was IT. Games, cartoons, toys and merchandise. So much Sonic it would make you puke. I still play Sonic 2 once in a while JUST for the sake of nostalgia.
