.The sirens in the USA are so different,in every community there are some sirens, they sound different. If you come to germany or france you can hear only one or two types of sirens.
I "like the Choirs" of your sirens, but its creepy if you know for what they are warning.I woud ran downstairs or seek shelter in a massive and solid house.
Here in germany we dont have any special signal for "tornado warnings"
last summer i was awake at like 1:47 at night with a friend over and my parents were gone for the weekend we were watching Gurren Lagaan and it was rainig and reallywindy outside but ur used to it inKansas wethought nothing of it all we focused on were mechs beating the shit out of each other. thats when the sirens went off. It is scary shit at night! in the day it happened all the time i had never been home alone for warnings before and never at night.flash of lighting then tornado right their!
I couldn't imagine living in tornado alley...I live in Canada, give me a blizzard anyday, although the winds in that could are strong enough where you think it might re-locate your house.
When you are under a Tornado watch and a severe thunderstorm warning at the same time by law they have to sound them because it could become tornadic at anytime and its a better warning system instead of waiting for the actual tornado.
That is utterly false. It is not required by law to sound tornado sirens when a severe thunderstorm warning is issued. The whole point of the sirens these days is to warn people outside that a tornado warning has been issued. In fact, a couple minutes after they sounded the sirens local media reported that it was an accident by a civil emergency worker and that they should not be going and that no rotation was noted on radar or confirmed by spotters.

Then go say that to the law makers of Indiana they are required to sound the sirens, you don't need a tornado just to sound them because you don't know for sure if the storm will put down one. Better safe than sorry and it gives people a chance to prepare.
I do remember hearing on KSNT that a spotter reported a low cloud near Goodyear, and that they sounded the sirens because of that, yet i remember right after the sirens had went off, on WIBW they said it was a false alarm. For some reason, that night the sirens sounded different then they normally do, like a different pitch. Must have been because of the strong winds. I remember like a minute after the sirens turned on the 70MPH winds came through my area.
What you say's true, but I have also heard that (not by law: last I looked, there wasn't a law applied to siren activations) when a Severe Thunderstorm Warning is issued in a county where a Tornado Watch is already in effect, sirens will be sounded since the Watch indicates any storm that forms in the area is more likely to become tornadic. Not to say anything otherwise about your situation:just pointing out that there may be times where counties will sound the alert for a non TOR Warning storm.
@jdprice455 Sirens are only sounded when there is rotation or a tornado in the area. They just installed a new siren system here in Topeka and they are horrible. You can barely hear them in my house when they're testing them, let alone outside when it's storming out.
sounds pretty.

Where I live, I see deep black clouds ALL THE TIME. The sirens dont start up, only when a funnel forms.
