  • The album of the same name was one of my favs' from the 70's. Roy's blend of jazz, funk and rhythm and blues is downright infectious.

  • I thoroughly recommend the unreleased vocal version of this track on the Virgin Ubiquity album. You won't be disappointeed!!

  • Wish someone would load drone by RA...simply a DEF song,

  • good one to go to sleep on, without music me lost, geez, just love what Roy Ayers is all about, or arguably was...

  • He's in Chicago tonight in Hyde Park(7-30-11)...8 p.m.

  • Kurious - Uptown Shit

It's The Uptown Shit. It's The Uptown Shit. Check The Uptown Shit. Strictly Uptown Shit.

  • Seeing Roy at the Jazz Cafe a few years ago was one of the best nights of my life, will be going again this July, I can't wait!

  • Have 8 hand picked gems of his on the ipod, when I play this is in my car people at red lights just sit and stare!!!

  • @joshua626 what are the 8 songs?

  • @imsosick75 day dreaming, daylite, Seaching, everybody loves the sunshine, the third eye, mystic voyage, a tear to a smile, and brawling broads. With these tracks you never go back to that oh so watered down sound we all hear.

  • His sound stands the test of time. Sounds as good today as it did the first time I heard his work. Beautiful

  • My tune to end night, absolutely spot on...

  • jazz at its best, baby! you go mr.roy ayers!

  • blew my mind the first i heard it still sounds fresh.

  • What a man, so damn smooth!!!

  • This is so mind boggling. Its somewhere between barry white and p-funk. I want this playing when Im dying not dead but dying. You heard me!!!!

  • yo it's the uptown hit!

  • This man is beyond ill. This is def what I'm on!

  • @roscoegnio Thanks man!

  • My late uncle bought this album when it came in 1975, I was only 5 years old at the time, but remember he played the hell out of that "Mystic Voyage" album (mainly Side 2). Thanks to his love of jazz, I came to love and enjoy jazz as a kid and well into adulthood. I just so wish these kids today could open their minds and explore other genres of music outside of hip hop and wannabe non talented female vocalists...excuse me, entertainers.

  • AWESOME!!!

  • This came out in 72 or 73 rite?

  • @eric601d 1975

  • This is special because back in high school when I was a junior I made it a tradition to buy one jazz LP and one funk LP every week. This was the first Jazz LP and Bootsy's Rubber Band "Stretching Out" was the funk!! Man what a time.

  • vibraphone not xylophone

  • omg, all the late nights drinking, smoking and grooving on roy ayer's Ubiquity. There may even have been a few magic cactii on occasion.

  • NOW , THIS IS HOW IT'S DONE!!! WhileTODAYS so-called composers are talking about "beats", THIS IS HOW IT'S DONE!!!

  • ok all you old heads, who remembers what year this came out, hmmm?

  • @sputnik9453 1975, my fave is "you send me" came out in 1978, I was 17 at the time, mmmmmm :) my life was NEVER the same. Peace Lady L.

  • @headedsomewhere I was 23 and finishing gradschool. I was in Chicago and saw him on TV. I think it was some kind of local TV show. The same thing happened to me. Did you catch the video of him giving a live performance in Germany in 1994. He did sweet tears and some others. It's right here on YT. Gotta see it...

  • @sputnik9453 about 74-76 when it came out, off the top of my head.

  • Only a dumb idiot wouldn't know it's a Vibraphone

  • Seriously, how good is this guy? Absolutely amazing! I wish I had "found" Roy sooner, discovering more of his songs and enjoying them by the day! Thanks!

  • @80sfordman

My favourite artist ever and truly a legend.

  • jazzy jeff sampled that for a song, love it:)

  • This is smoothiest jazz / funk I ever heard. And Roy Ayers is king of xylophones. A music legend.

  • @sephius1999 I agree, just wantes to mention that he's playing a vibraphone.

  • @sephius1999 he uses vibraphones

  • @LetItBurnnn Thanks for correcting me.

  • @sephius1999

Roy will himself admit that Lionel Hampton is the king of the vibes, but Roy is a very close second

  • @sephius1999 What he plays is a vibraphone -__-'

  • One of my fav jazz songs. This could be the sound track to my life kind of music. I do feel the journey, the voyage, when I go deep into this song...

  • Mama, I'm In Love Wit A Gangsta!

  • I heard this tune in the pink panther movie and i knew i heard it before! Very very nice track!

  • Smooth and silky....this jazz is best served Chilled!...Thank you ;o)

  • That is good but ain't the real version

  • @vbierry

    Nothing white ever is......

  • @seshta What do you mean ? ;)

  • @seshta What doyou mean ?

Lol I am hearing this sound again and I feel like....

    you know...

  • @vbierry

I made some assumptions. Mainly that whatever other version you were referring to what some watered down you know what. I definitely was not talking about Roy.
