  • Such a horrible place.

  • Hi, my name is Siobhan. Only found out yesterday that some of my uncles went to Lwtterfrack. I live in County Mayo-next county to Galway. Has anyone tried to get information on their relatives who where in Letterfrack?, Siobhan.

  • This is just up the road from where my Mum was born. Our familty visited Letterfrack reguarly when I was a kid and nobody knew anythign then. Its like mementos of the civil war, tucked away, forgotten or was until people got brave enough She said she didnt even know there was a so called ''school'' there, God rest those children now their suffering is over and may their tormentors know every kind of hell/

  • its an ongoing disgusting disgrace ~protect the children from this darkness

  • Catholic scum out of Ireland now.

  • I stayed at the Old Monastery Hostel, during a visit to Ireland and happened to randomly walk to the cemetery. I was deeply touched, but did not know the story behind it. So sad!

  • I got to see this graveyard in 2006 when I was in Letterfrack for my brothers wedding. Very, very sad.

  • my great uncle and his brother went to this hell hole, his brother died in a mental home n just the last few yrs since this came public he turned to drink real bad never touched drink before, even their blood money wont help him, so shame on them hope they rot in hell!!!!!!!!!

  • Sick individuals.. Becoming a preist must have been an easy way for a pervert to prey on young children ... it could have happened anywhere - but ireland being so remote and old-fashioned must have been easy for them to carry out these crimes against humanity

  • Connemara is not a county...its a region within county Galway

  • @FiaRua and mayo

  • Arrests will not be made, no one will be brought before a court, The shrewdness shown by the Christian Brothers in all it,s dealings with the Irish Republic clearly show they put their intrests before that of the law of the land and hold the people of Ireland in contempt. This is serious as they are a foreign agent working on behalf of another country namely the Vatican. Ireland is dangerously close to being seen within the global community as a failed state.

  • I attended a state primary school in the midlands of Ireland in the late 40s early 50s. I witnessed young boys of 9,10,11 being violently assaulted by these medieval, psychopathic bullies. What must it have been like for the young people incarcerated in these gulag hell holes? At last, I have self vindication for my road from Catholicism to Atheism which commenced one day in October 1953 when I witnessed one of my best friends being assaulted by an 18 stone 6 foot tall 'holy brother'.

  • Crimes against humanity. If democracy is to survive they must be taken to the Hague. They have to be held accountable. The Pope is their leader,he is no different to Milosevic,Saddam,or any of the African despots.Lets see some action. This is Irelands holocaust. The Garda Siochana,as usual, have been found wanting, their history is married to the religious orders.Ireland is a failed state. You can run but you cannot hide.

  • If you really want to know the truth about Letterfrack Industrial School read my uncle's book "Founded on Fear" by Peter Tyrrell. My father Laurence Tyrrell and his brothers all went to this school and were abused terribly. Another reason why I have left the Catholic Church. I am in the process of demanding an excommunication from the church. When is the Irish government going to wake up and stop the Catholic Church from running the country?

  • i read that book r.i.p peter

  • Im ashamed to be Irish when I see things like this. These children were let down by everybody. And I also find it disturbing that the Catholic church is STILL running many of the primary schools in Ireland, have we not learned anything from these horrors?

  • thank you for posting this...heart breaking to see the little headstones. i am glad the boys at least have these as the magdalenes didn't. doesn't take away what happened by any stretch.

  • So sad, very good video. Thanks so much for posting.

  • Poignant.
