Can someone please tell me, i don't understand how i can do this..I have HD4850, and almost every game works great, in DX10/DX9.. But I want to have PhysX, but I don't have nVidia, and I wanna buy some cheap card like 8400GS/GT210... But, I'm not sure that cards can do PhysX, the cards are very, very, weak. So, what is the cheapest nVidia, that can finish the job for Hybrid PhysX? (Any how should I connect to cards on one monitor, I saw something about fake display... o.O) THANKS.

friend! I have an 5870 and 8800gts 640 mb, but my psu is 550 watts... my 5870 recommends to have 500 watts and above and its ok . ( the 8800gts recommends an 480 and above psu) would i be able to have the 5870 running AND the 8800gts running only as psysx card ? or my power isn't enough? what is your power consumption  now if you know ?

evreyone is talking about an ATI working with an dedicated nvidia card, yes is possible with nvidia's drivers and an patch that will disable the ,,ati check" thingy.Any nvidia 9000+ till GTX 480 supports physx, so it WILL NOT MATTER what card you have, the 8800 GT has the same performance as an 275 IF YOUR USING IT ONLY FOR PHYSX. So dont waste your money for high end nvidia cards if your using them only for physx.

Got my shit working last night. With Catalyst 10.2 I didn't have to do anything except put in the nvidia card (9600gt) install the nvidia forceware 96.31, reboot to safe mode and apply the patch and that was it. I didn't have to do all that extend the desktop stuff at all. Was very easy.

Need to watch your virus scanner though because when you download the patch virus scanner will say its a virus, because technically it does virus like stuff, being it gets into your driver files and changes stuff. But its not a virus, it just looks like a virus to AVG.

Well is the physX forceware for an ATI a complete driver or a modded extension of Catalyst? And if so is performance effected negatively? OR is it a completely nvidia driver? if so do you get better or worse performance than catalyst drivers?

@Containforum You know what ? You're absolutaly correct, its not powerful at all ! I can't get decent cuda video editing, it crashs my windows 7 os all the time, even though I'm using the correct set of drives. Newer drives from Nvidia seem to be corrupt, I do have an Ati card inside, so I tried the physx trick with current new drives but to no avail. Yeah, I was just trying to see if it works, so I might get a 260 or 280, and wait for the new GF100. Thanks !

So just a general question... sometime in the future I want to try this setup with my current card (5850) and a single slot nVidia card (probably 9800 GT or something). My motherboard (gigabyte P55A-UD3P) has one pci express x16 slot, and another pci express x4 slot (but at x16 length). Would the x4 bandwidth be sufficient for the physx processing coming from the 9800 GT or similar card? Anyone have any experience with this?

The 5870 was running on (what I assume to be) PCI express x16 with full 16 lanes) and the 8800GT is also on a PCI express x16 slot. Is that slot also at x16? Or is it at a lower bandwidth like x8 or x4?

Yes the x16 is active, but it appear that the card "only use" the x1.(not sure, will ask the tester who made the test)

There's no need of huge bandwidth, as this is only results of calculations use for the frame rendering.

PhysX, specially the water effects, where cool, the story had potential, but the execution wasnt that great I think. To repetitive in similar surroundings. Only redeming part of the game was those flashback parts. Which where cool.

Its a bargain bin game and pointless if you dont have PhysX in my opinion.

PhysX is a physical engine that makes it easier to create physics in a game. You can make similar effects without a physical engine, but then you have to animate everything and its not dynamic.

Eg the fog. When Batman moves into it,it moves like if you brush your hand through fog.

Thats the dynamic part which takes system resources. Similar with the ripping of the flags. Its not pre animated.

ATI has Havok, but its not at the same level as PhysX nor used much. PhysX=more Eye candy/immersion.

You cant use ATI and Nvidia cards together with PhysX by default. What you are watching here is a "hack". So, you should look into it if you have enough knowledge to get it working before you waste your money...

While I do agree you should know what you're getting into when you buy a Radeon/Geforce tandem, it is not necessarily a dirty hack.

nVidia simply added a script in their drivers that disables PhysX whenever a Radeon card is detected. genL's patch simply bypasses this. The patch simply removes constraints, it doesn't add anything.
