If I ever made one of those, I would just leave it out there and let it roam into a populated area to freak people out. Maybe rig a motion camera to it or something too.
Y'know... although I have no idea how he funds his creations, I've gotta speak up and let you know, there are a few very benevolent organizations and people in this world giving people like him the ability to do this sort of thing, strictly for the sake of creation and inspiration. I think some people dream about this kind of engineering all the time but don't think it's possible. This sets fires under people's butts (figuratively). -and yeah, my heart sank too when I saw it was a BMW advert.
If Ford used these in their commercials it might save them by showing them how innovative their Ranger pickups and E-series vans are. Ford 500/Taurus08 suffered because they are too innovative.
I love commercials. Show someone else's amazing creation, then tag your name on the end of the clip and pretend you have something to do with it. This tells me nothing about BMWs. Regardless, Theo's work is great.
@KoGaWataru he wouldn't make the money to tie some PVC pipes together with cable ties and insulation tape? please give credit where its due, Theo is a genius, BMW has a good marketing team.. they didn't sponsor shit
@Proxima256 he may be a genius but he's a genius spending his time making things that aren't currently being put in any sort of commercial use, therefore, either
a. he makes money off of an actual job and does all this as a hobby
or b. he gets sponsorships from people/companies who support his work or want his research.
you need to realize that although all these may be made out of plastic and other relatively inexpensive materials, the guy still needs to have some way of paying his bills.
you put a sit on it so you can ride it?
