I don't know about guitars, I'm a drummer, and I know Axenrot is a beast, I think he can play anything, but Lopez was part of the breakthrough of the band, his unique style was part of the novelty, and this song is a good example, every beat on it is essential to make it perfect. Watershed was the only opportunity to test Axenrot (because of Heritage) and if I have to choose, I pick Lopez.
Ghost Reveries is my favorite Opeth album, you have to listen to every song a couple times, it always gets better once they start singing, i think everybody can like Opeth once they give them a chance even my grandma likes Opeth when i told her about them, but my grandpa still calls them a bunch of pot smoking hippies, then he listened to them and changed his mind :D
I have been checking out BIgelf! Ever since I heard they were touring with Opeth. But apparently its just Opeth that are coming to Ireland, so that should be a longer set from them as well :D
actually if you paid attention mikael said (about the new bloodbath album) that its a little of a tribute to morbid angel and he wanted to change his growl a little bit more towards their style for that album.

No soul, no ambition, and no stage presence. There is alot of feedback during their live sets that was not there in the past, and they all look really bored. To much touring maybe, or maybe they are slowly slipping away. I HOPE NOT!!
dood i saw them in 08 and i had no clue who opeth was my friend got me the ticket , they blew me the fuck away , shredding , tight performance . this was 2 days after i saw liquid tension and they where both as good...opeth pwns

The music was played with more passion, the sound was crisp and clear, and their were no fuckups. I seen the new guitarist fuck up at least a dozen times,4 times during "The Drapery Falls" and the band looked tired and undedicated to the show.You are talking to a hardcore Opeth fan man, since Still Life in 1999. They are my 2nd favorite band next to Pink Floyd, and a major inspiration.

But I feel a couple Watershed songs like "Hex Omega" and "Porcelain Heart" could've had more to them. It almost gave me the impression that "Porcelain Heart" was Mikael trying to write a radio friendly Opeth track. I love the band though, and they are a HUGE inspiration on me and my music.Opeth is easily one of the greatest bands of all time, they will be legends someday.
Just a bad mix, it's hard to get good sound straight off of a video camera. If you listen closely you can tell he is hitting all the right notes, its on time, and the sustain is right on. Just bad sound quality.
