  • They were the rock opera and drama of Meat Loaf way before Meat Loaf. The originals!

  • I have made some similar mash-ups and YouTube pulls them for "copyright violations" instead of understanding the tribute we pay to our favorite songs and bands. So, please...how do you do it? How do you keep this from getting yanked?

  • I don't like. I LOVE this sh** I have since I got this album back in 75. What a great welcome home from the far east.

  • I always think of days that are far away and long gone when I hear this song..Thank ya!!

  • When the trombone slides up as they go back to the verse, it's so perfect the hair on the back of my neck prickles. Maybe I should get out more but seriously, they were, maybe still are, or will be again- a truly brilliand band!

  • A BABY'S ARM HOLDING AN APPLE!!!!!!

  • This is pretty awesome! :D Just stumbled across it! Love it! :D

    God Bless ~Amy

  • Excellent choice in bands, tubes, wild cherry, blind faith.I Love the tubes !! theyve got to be be one of my all time fave, always go back to, make me smile and sing along bands. how about putting up some of the lesser known ones from the CBP album..like boy crazy, mr hate, amnesia :-)

  • superb!

  • I had the priviledge of hearing them live at the Hammersmith Odeon. I was impressed with how technically proficient they were and how they really rammed their anti-materialistic message home. Thus it is no wonder that what pontello3 says is true. The last thing the pop music, multimedia pocket money robbing conspiracy wants is for kids to start being less gullible and materialistic!

  • @Hirudinaceous The last thing anyone into wealth accumulation wants is for anyone out there to wake up from the cult-ural trance.

  • Last time I heard this was when it was freshly released on KSAN FM, when I was a kid in high school. I just randomly remembered it now and this is the first time listening since 1975 or 76 or something... Thanks for posting!

  • A brilliant group of musicians with a zany, wacko-genius for a frontman. Their first two albums are masterpieces. Thanx for the upload!

  • The Internet is TUBES! Tangled up TUBES!

  • @mikey5014 Are there a series of these videos?

  • @megaphone69 Yes, there is. xD.

  • T.Y!!!!!!!!

  • Absolute brilliance. No one trick pony band here.

  • a wonderful hook at 1:16

  • 18 in 1977 when i first heard this, didn't have a clue who The Tubes were but i liked what i heard, later that year and by sheer coincidence i saw them as "Frank Zappa & The Tubes" at Knebworth House open air concert, all i remeber was how crazy the stage set was with giant cigarettes an open top Cadillac with scantily clad woman, explosions, lights and of course Zappa and The Tubes !!!! will never forget it.......................

  • Well. What do you want. How about a valid African American culture?

  • Thanks for posting ! I am looking for the Tubes live album from the early 80's . Is it on CD ?

    TY..Bob in Buffalo

  • I want a Chevy Monza!!!

  • An attestation as to the trivialisation of human existance on the alter of consumer economics. Thank goodness this piece will be there for future generations to study our decadence, our materialism, and most of all , our total lack of concern for the welfare of the generations who will follow and who will have to live in poverty because of our despicable self-indulgance.

  • i want a new radiator for my car..

  • "a baby's arm holding an apple" is a rewording of a Lenny Bruce routine...thanks for this awesome song!

  • the tubes ! possibly the most underrated rock band ever!

  • @pontello3 SO TRUE !

  • For those of you who never got to see the Tubes live, i'm sorry. For those of you who did......you know what i mean!!! Prairie Prince was one hell of a drummer. Love The Tubes!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thank YOU so much for being able to post this WITH its origianl Quadraphonic signal.. it works SO well on surround-sound speakers!! this takes me right back to 1977 , when I heard this on a brand-new Quad-sound

system.. it was hallucinatory without drugs!

  • @nexus169 THIS EXISTS IN FUCKING QUADRAPHONIC? HOLY TITS

  • trying to play video/audio, but black screen. ?Why/

  • Brilliantly crafted masterpiece!

  • ok i got one for you. i can't find "i'm a man" by "rare earth"

  • Finally people seems to realize what a great band the Tubes was. I was a little slow myself, not before 1983 I really understood what was going on. Even if I infact bought their first in 1975.

They were simply way ahead of their time. One of the real big ones in my opinion.

Every member of the Tubes are brilliant musicians.

And as a band thye were totally amazing!

  • @reservenavn 1975 i too, bought this album, and i loved to play it on my awsome kenwood sterio system i had back then. it was a 120 watt amplifier that made everything sound awsome. i used to lift the roof off the house with that stereo. and i had a brand new monza. in 1975 i also was listening to " all too much" by steve hillage, but in 1976 i bought an album by "paris" called " big town 2061" which is still awsome to this day!!

  • take the big bull bey the horns..

  • What a great band. They don't make 'em like that any more.

  • I just played this for my friend. Oh, how confused she was.

  • I have this song on a Police album, straaange....

  • totally underrated band!!!

    they were soooo great!

  • They were so much fun live. I've seen them in the bigger venues an in the bars. What songs, what shows!

  • Watch'The Gadget Show' in the UK and you need this song!

  • What a stage show these rich boys had back in the day...

  • LOL it said Rosemary's Baby and you had a picture of Bush you so funny LOL jackass.

  • . . . or a baby's arm holding an apple!!!

  • I remember so well when this came out. I played this album into the ground, then got another copy

I remember the popular kids bopping along to this, well some of them, not realizing that the song mocked everything they believed in.

  • R.I.P. Dad i still enjoy this song ever since you showed me this shit.

  • @27Fan4Ever usually said by a guy about his own, um, gifts...

  • @27Fan4Ever As a tubes fan who is British I can confirm that "A baby,s arm holding an apple" is indead an erection although most british penis.s are not green at the end!

  • Brilliant song!~

  • Mitico brano, volevo chiedere se qualcuno sa se l'album dal vivo dei tubes è in vendita.

  • This was always a bloody good song!

  • 3:24 to get your swizzlestick on!

  • i like the T connection pvc pipe

  • Great band...The Tubes refused to be a famous .. When you are a celebrity, the career is not important so much..

  • Classic !! The Tubes are Gods of Rock !! Maybe the greatest band ever of all time - and not enough people know it

  • @GreenhouseEffectGE As they used to be introduced: "Tied for Number One Group in the World!"

  • There was Johny Rotten an co. doing their best (because they knew how limited they were as actual musicians) to reduce things down to the primordial swamp. Believe me you had to be there, the entire establishment was trying to turn us all into morons! Then came forth the Tubes. They saved me, but sadly, despite their attempt, billions remained mired in complete bullshit- materialistic or religious/superstious. They saw it coming!

  • THANK you for sharing this great vid, I hadn't heard this in many moons. So many forgotten roads...on a long strange trip.

    rip Vince...

  • A Third Reich Swizzle Stick?

  • @thestig1214 Beautifully RESTORED. :)

  • This is a shortened version if my memory serves me well.....

  • @axeblaster1000 Only shortened by 5 seconds-the album I've had since 1976 says the song is 4:02, and this vid shows 3:57.

  • Don't you wish you had a baby's arm holding an apple?

  • Nice, Fee would be proud.

  • no-one could name their offspring Fee waybill, and be considered competent! consider andrew eldritch's mother....who only gave him his first name!...look up the word "eldritch..discuss

It's a line from a Truman Capote short story.

  • Still great.

  • Absolutly FANTASTIC!!! God love you for posting this. I do!

  • they were so good live I bought tix 3 different times in the 80's.

  • ...a Matador!!! I always forget about this song until the ending. You've got to love a song that mentions a new Matador, Montego, Meteor, Mercury Montclair or a new Monza and then a baby's arm holding an apple!

  • The part that starts @ 02:56 is classic:

  • The tubes were were of the most underrated bands of all time. And there concerts were the wildest things I've ever seen

  • Great job on the vid! 2 thumbs up!

    RANDY MANTOOTH!!

  • I know this is a song about the superficiality of people's desires, but that part where Fee sings, "Someone to love and somebody you can trust." (2:27-1:37) is the True part of the song and Fee sings it so beautifully:) The Tubes are deceptively profound sometimes.

  • You said a lot with few words, I agree with you!

  • @kirk7524875248 Thank You for enlightening us. I never picked up on that!

  • @kirk7524875248 I thought he was being ironic. Although a bit more substantial, aren't those things just as fleeting as the rest?

  • @kirk7524875248 this song is so awesome and complete

  • @kirk7524875248 End is very Zappa like, Respectfully

  • I love this song, haven't heard it forever

  • i loved this album.

  • Sorry guys, this is it!! Chord structure from hell> YEAH BABY YEAH

  • This is bogus.

    Definitely not the original.

  • @codevictim sure sounds like it to me...

  • This is not the version I remember.

  • It is a brilliant recording. Fact.

  • missing Buddro in my old Tuxedo ! ! ! ! Who could forget the preformance at the WARNER THEATER all those years ago ! ! ! ! can not thank enough for posting ! ! ! ! those were truly the days man ! ! ! !

  • This song to be shorter

  • The tubes were so great in the beginning.

If I were part of it I'd kill myself for having to sell out to the hit parade (coincidentially the last good song they played like they really mean it).

    God bless them)

  • hypnohorn-you have a rectal crainal ecquilision.this rocks and they are artist.

  • the poke in the eye with the blunt stick...what else is necessary

  • definitely a "a baby's arm holding an apple"

  • What I love about this song is that it starts out as a brilliant (and funny) satire of the American "gimme more of everything" mindset, and then at 2:40 it seems to get more sincere about asking, What matters to you in life? . . . What's your life really about?

  • A heated kidneyshaped pool. a micro wave oven, a kingsize titanic unsinkeable malibrown waterbed, a maverick,

    a restored thirdreich swizzlestick,

    a mastodont, a mazda, rosemaries baby, a winnebago, a meteor, a mercedes,

a monza, a las vegas wedding,

a mexican divorce..., or bob dylans new unlisted phonenumber......

Super band, Super music ,Super lyrics

    Need not say more,,,

  • @DirkjeA agreed, except the part about 'what we get for free in America', that someone wrote up above.....us poor are barely able to eat and have a place to live. The rich get richer, while the poor get poorer, as is probably true everywhere.

  • @reesalevy U r right. As I am dutch I don't know much about the US, but in Holland too life is bad for those without a job+money. Living from benefits isnot easy. However I think in the US it is much worse. At least here almost everyone has a health insurance, the state pays for it , its prohibited. I have been to NY in 1996 and I never saw so many homeless and beggars before. Nowadays it is bad here too, but I get the feeling that in the US it is even worse, look at how poor ppl are treated.

  • a little disappointing frankly that you couldn't find a picture of a baby's arm holding an apple, and the other stuff leading up to that, nice effort otherwise.

  • Yea, that's the closest i could find although I didn't really try for this.

  • @bmwc16880 The phrase "a baby's arm holding an apple" comes from a Salvador Dali Painting. You should be able to find it online.

  • that is a saying about the size of a mans cock it is so big it looks lie a babys arm holding an apple

  • A baby's arm holding an apple is supposed to mean something else...It's an old saying that men would use to boast about their ...you know...hugeness. I'm sorry that I am not kidding you. Hope I didn't wreck the song for you.

  • @MobiusBandwidth Of course, "a baby's arm holding an apple", isn't meant literally, I hope you realise... :-)

  • @MobiusBandwidth I Just relalized that nmwc16880 did the same type video as me. Mine is entitled "What do you want from life anyhow?" Check it out .. The cars are correct and the items are too.... including "a babies arm holding an apple".. which is slang for a Big Dick

  • @ignatzRat Too Funny,

  • @MrChefliberty Thanks! I always loved this song

  • @MobiusBandwidth

You do know what a "baby's arm holding an apple" is don't you?

  • @MobiusBandwidth a baby's arm holding an apple means a big dick.

  • @flooringguytim actually it was Lenny Bruce's description of a of a black guys penis.

  • @MobiusBandwidth they don't allow that sort of imagery on you tube, sir. ;)

  • @MobiusBandwidth a babys arm holding an apple is actually an erect penis

  • Very well made video! Just saw The Tubes sing this live. Still sound great!

  • Was it at the Stockton Asparagus festival? They were good when i saw them their over the weekend.

  • Yeah, I went there just to see them!

  • i just found this vid in my favorites and i did'nt favorite it

  • Maybe you are sharing accounts, a glitch in youtube, or you have very bad memory

  • i can't believe other video makers haven't used this song. it's like 30 yrs old.

  • this is all round the wrong way

  • thats the point

  • This song was deffinatly uderated.-What do you want from life? I quess like everyone else .1LOVE,2 MONEY , 3.GOOD HEALTH. did I misss anything??

  • What about power, some people want power.

  • what the fuck do you think is money? ever hear the golden rule-"Those with the Gold Makes The Rules"

  • ya forgot tacos

  • @bmwc16880 You need a lot more money for power since Enron though.

  • I'll take all of those + that last option: A baby's arm holding an apple lol (and no, not shoved up my ass, but equipped with one)

  • @frankc5322 A babies arm holding an apple?

  • I don't know if anyone has brought this up, but Lenny Bruce said in his book "How to Talk Dirty and Influence People", talking about black men, "their wangs look like a baby's arm with an apple in its fist". The Tubes changed the wording a bit for this song.

  • thats really great music! since 25y im a great fan of the tubes.

specially Lesley Paton, a wonderful background singer, compliments to her!

  • Bmw if u see this then u should know me :D

  • Thanks!

  • Still want a baby's arm holding a apple...wait I have one.

  • well you can't have that,BUT....

  • I'm a Bay Area girl. Gre
