do i have to use games workshop paints or no. because i started my first mini ( a terminator my friend gave me) and i tryed to prime it but it didnt come out good. the paint was thick and i tryed to water it down but still not good
@RabbitLitvyak You dont have to. I simply prefer the silvers that GW produces over the ones that P3 produces. For gold and bronze I prefer "Game Color" which is a brand that my friendly local game store carries. You could ask 10 painters what brand they prefer for whatever and you'd get 10 different answers. More or less you just have to experiment a little. Maybe I should do a video on priming...
@pegbster well, the same idea can be used on a larger scale while painting a wall with a sponge. The brushes I use for drybrushing are the cheapest ones I can find at the Michaels (5 bucks for a bunch). If they arent Natural fiber they do a good job of pretending to be natural. For Fine detail or adding other colors and things like that usually the better the brush the better the desired effect.. I've heard that true miniature professionals use Raphael brushes. I use Privateer & GW mostly
i just started playing 40k, and i didn't really care for green grey knights, helped a lot, i went from green to grey blobs.... so hopefully this helps me a lot more. hoping to see more since you actually explain what your doing i cant find many videos that explain what your doing...
@quangtrunge8k42 Hey. Sorr it took so long to reply. The Black is the Privateer Press Black Primer. And the Silver is Games Workshop Chainmail. If you want them to look grittier use GW Boltgun, and if you want them shiner there's a GW one that's super bright (I cant remember the name off hand)
@quangtrunge8k42 Hey. So the base coat is the Games Workshop Black (its not a primer, just black). The Grey is the Games Workshop Boltgun (kind of a dirty silver), or Chainmail (brighter). They also have a Platinum with is the shiniest.. Games Workshop Metals are my favorites.
@dutchdragon1 I love washings. My latest obsession os using GW Devlan Mud and putting int on most of miniature after im "finished". I mostly paint Privateer press mini's and when you're painting a steamjack the devlan mud makes everything look "greasy"
@MrSavageDark thanks- Something to keep in mind - if it works (If you like what you've done) I wouldnt call it wrong. Also, my version of Dry brushing is childs play compared to a professional. for me the object is to cover the entire miniature with silver but still show the black cracks. Some dry brushing is just like fine detail painting but the brush is still dry.
@MrLemonlord Hmm, basing. Do you mean simply covering a miniature in its base component colors? or using a special type of base paint and then layering on other colors? for instance If I were basing an ultramarine, I'd start with Ultramarine blue. Or something else?
Great tutorial on drybrushing...thanks!
