we never got a chance to ask James arness about boot hill, tn police banned him from ever coming back to tn but he was asked about the guy out drawing in the opening scene he laughed and said he was having a bad day he was a friendly guy answered all questions until the tn police told them all to leave which they did,Amanda Blake was there and she is a lovely person and friendly milburn stone was a little stiff looking and ken Curtis wasn't friendly in fact he was rude when asked questions.
Script mistake? Earlier Chester ran into the Long Branch and told Matt that Zack Morten and Neal Irwin came ridin' up the street "bold as brass." Matt only walked up to Zack.
Well it is "Boot Hill" mostly bad guys were buried there, and if you are a true fan of Gunsmoke most people were buried on their land. The first few years of scripts were from radio shows that had been done, the principle of Boot Hill is the damned are buried there.
Marshall Thompson had interesting career, popping up all over the place, from Dahktari to that thing from outer space that was the precursor for Alien. He could be totally vile like in this Gunsmoke episode or really likable. Never a superstar, just a working actor that usually did a pretty good job.
Ada (Katerine Bard) was still a very pretty woman at this time. Born in 1916, she would have been 42 yrs old in this clip, produced in '58. She only very later appeared in shows portraying catankerous older ladies, although usually with a mild but pleasant sense of humor. I wonder if she ever played a role as a glamorous figure, sense she really looked very appealing at even this age.

Did Matt Dillon actually call the dead "trash". I would have never expected such disrespect from him.
