There's plenty of names you're all forgetting, as I'm sure I would too. Just to note a few that aren't mentioned but are certainly of an extremely high caliber of musicianship: Aniello Desiderio, Goran Krivokapic, Dimitri Illarionov? Just check them out. Russell always provides a great interpretation though.

He is definitely one of the best classical guitarists in the world today. Of that there is no doubt. However, I don't think it is possible to say definitively that he is the best. There are several guitarists who are at such a high level that it defies reality to say who is the best. For instance, how does one decide between such players as John Williams, Pepe Romero, Sharon Isbin or Ana Vidovic to name but a few. David Russell is certainly great and he is one of my favorites.
