  • I vehemently love Mahi-Mahi. The Frenchy's here on Clearwater Beach makes the best! I'll have to make this and see if it can compare. Look really good, though. :)

  • somehow,.. using peeler peeled more of mango's meat than peeling mango by your own hands. Tho it is easier to use peeler.

  • Chef John: Its good on anything grilled, go on name anything

    Me: Poo!

  • awesome recipe

  • when my father grills again, I'm making this! Thank you Chef John!!

  • Yes manila mango! That's where I'm from! Haha.

  • Chef John where did you buy your potato peeler? I like it.

  • Those are the BEST mangos

  • Yeah that isnt really sambal! Sambal doesn't really have the chilli seeds in it and its fried till the oil comes out. I'm gonna try this anyway !

  • I dun really think that's sambal Sir... That's thai chilli sauce XD Sambal has like dried shrimps and a hell lot of oil haha...

  • i once found some mango-chili sauce from the store and it was soooo good with anything that i cooked on the grill. And then I added some fresh lime juice and it was even better.

  • I made this over the weekend! Well, a variation of it with what I had. Mangos, lime, garlic, rice vinegar, ginger, and jalapeno sauce. Had it over grilled salmon, sooooo good!

  • i tryed this i just made the biggest mes in the kitchen

  • Hi Chef John,

I'm from Singapore and we have many different types of sambal here! (sambal simply means chili in malay). I was wondering what kind of sambal is it? Is it the sweet sambal? garlicky? simply spicy? some sambal have prawn paste in it!

  • @SKLeeJ the only sambal I know available in my nearest Asian grocery store is the original one, not sweet and no addtional ingredient what so ever :)

  • MANILA MANGO!!!!!! Thumbs up if you're filipino!!! XD

  • @mareksison Thumbs up

  • @mareksison Unfortunately, Manila Mangoes are from Mexico. I googled it, thinking it was Philippine mangoes, but it isn't. I was disappointed. :| There's a dispute about it too, some Filipinos claiming the Mexicans used "Manila" misleadingly.

  • @hamificationable but they look exactly like the magoes we have her :( the way it gets peeled exactly like it too. And we are a more moist region. Mangoes grown here should be more moist and smooth than the ones in Mexico. It's kinda weird

  • @mareksison Yeah, it seems to be a variety of the local Carabao mangoes. Mexico was a Spanish colony too, so it's likely a result of some trade centuries ago. But either way, Philippine Carabao mangoes are still the best mangoes in the world. I think it'll work here.

  • @hamificationable Awesom! You filipino too?

  • @mareksison I am. :D

  • mahi mahi , sounds hawaiian to me

  • Where'd you get that peeler, Chef John?

  • how would grilled shit be with this sauce?

  • Why not THAI Basil..

  • ide eat a desert spoon full of that, like a boss.

  • great sauce, but isn't it a little too overwhelming for fish? i'd think that the subtle taste would be totally lost because of the strong chilli. the rest of the ingredients sound amazing though

  • Chief John, I thank you for being the most professional chief I've yet encountered on Youtube yet. Yours truly, a fellow John (but not a chief, sadly)

  • That looks soooo good.

  • is this ridiculous but can I replace the seasoned vinegar with lemon juice? yes? no? :p I'll have to try.

  • more food porn!!!

  • yyaayyy for honey mangos!! I can't wait to try this, these are in season right now and are cheap, now is a great time to make this sauce!

  • isn't mango sweet? how does it taste with the fish?

  • @radulica GOOD!

  • Hey Foodwishes, why dont you go on Food Channels Chopped, think you would be great

  • Thai Mango Sauce with grilled mango maybe?

  • So it's good on grilled ice cream D:

  • @Aceinthehole7269 He clearly said: meat or fish

  • @RuudJH .... No he didn't... he said this is literally good on anything that would come off your grill

  • @Aceinthehole7269 I'm honestly extremely tempted to try this with fried icecream, which is an actual vietnamese dessert. ;)

  • @LadyLatias Woah fried ice cream? I can't even imagine how that would look or taste like :D bet it tastes good though =D

  • @Aceinthehole7269 Ice cream in shell of coconut fried batter, it's to DIE for.

  • @Aceinthehole7269 you need some sort or outer layer to protect the ice cream from melting. alot of japanese restaurants use what they call a tempura batter, but its essentially a funnel cake or pancake batter. scoop up ice cream, drop it in the batter, take it out, drop it in the fryer and then just firm up the batter and your done in about 1-2mins tops!

  • moar sauce!!!

  • Loved the party analogy. =3

  • Those thai chilli are evil I tell u!

  • "whatever you just said, it would be brilliant with." I said socks.

  • @foodwishes Hey chef, I was wondering if i could heat the sauce up cause i'm not to much into all raw veg sauce for by heating i can actually kill some of the bacteria.

  • YUMMMMMY!!! i would just eat that sauce alone! i love mangos! :O

  • I am da Mango.

  • I saw the teaser the same day I came back from dinner at a restaurant called "Thai Chili" where I had a grilled mahi mahi with mango curry sauce served with steamed rice. DELICIOUS!

  • I'll try it with the mahi mahi, but can I get it with just one mahi? I'm not that hungry.

  • Chef John! What does mahi mahi taste like? Close to salmon/ tuna/ trout?

  • shiok ar!

  • i said stake... is it good with tht?

  • 1:32, looks like McDonald's scrambled eggs XD

  • haha yes...it would work with that..whatever you said :P good one chef

  • mmmmmmmm

  • lol@ the ingredients having "big personalities" and needing to get along

  • ^.^

    TQ for your amazing vids!!

  • Wheres the Grilled pan chicken :)

  • No salt and pepper on the sauce?

  • I would prefer use these Manhos in my hot Applesauce for my "Apfel-Strudel" :D

  • Hey Chef John, for the first time I am turned off by a recipe. The fish looks delish but the mango sauce doesn't look appealing. Keep up the foodwishes! I've enjoyed everything else so far :)

  • I hope for you that knife isnt overcompensating for something :D (awesome looking knife though, and lovely food, as always)

  • yummy! but now all i can think about is making sambal! we make our own every year, 10Leters at a time! fryed tempe with sambal and baked cod with sambal and green beans with sambal........ drooooling

  • I just got very hungry :P

  • Awesome video as always chef john! Not going to lie though, I was a little disappointed when the grilled mahi mahi didnt happen. Reason being, I have 2 mahi mahi fillets waiting to be grilled and the only info I have is 3-4 mins per side lol

  • Dude, DUDE, DUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE, if i was a girl id marry you.

  • Please, I'm begging, show us the egg video already...

  • hey john, any secrets for baked clams/oysters?

  • how do you make the picture quality so vibrant and full of colours? what techniques did you use? extra lighting?

  • Ah! I wish I had watched this BEFORE I went to the grocery store this morning!! Looks so DELISH!

  • congrats on getting the commercials chef john nice to know your being compensated!

  • Hey Chef John - I have an important question. What else can we use instead of fish? Please reply!

  • @dgavlo he said anything...

  • @dgavlo If I were you I will use some Chicken breast :)

  • The food I'm about to eat seems SO lame compared to this >.>

  • "can i have a mahi mahi, but only one mahi??"

  • man... you're killing me with all these great food....

    ~,~

  • gosh u haven't tasted sambal until u come to Singapore

  • marshmellows ?

  • lol. i said nothing..guess it wud be good with that too..

  • i am damn hungry

  • There were only 126,374 pieces there!

  • That isn't sambal. ):

  • @hellohieswhatever Oh...that is Sambal. You're accusing the chef of not knowing his own ingredients??? shame on you (btw i can vouch...that is indeed...Sambal)

  • @Alesija1 I'm from Singapore. We have sambal there, and it looks nothing like that. ):

Maybe he's refering to a different kind, but the one I know is Malay, and the sambal he used (with the obvious chili flakes in it) looks Thai to me.

  • @hellohieswhatever

in the state and canada (not sure about other places), sambal is mass produced and stored into containers (called sambal olek2). So, it's no the fresh sambal that malaysians and singaporeans are used. And the sambal here has a more sour taste to it and less heat compared to sambal belacan or the likes. And it's more watery. Unlike sambal belacan that stands alone, sambal olek2 is usually mixed in something (like into sauces/soup/dipping etc).. :D

  • @hellohieswhatever Well...hmm, I think it IS Thai cause he called it 'Spicy Thai Mango Sauce' at the beginning of the video. Who knows, looks good though :) And im sure you can still use your sambal

  • This video is a false advertisement judgeing by the name :)

  • Grilled Mango with a spicy mango sauce.

  • I am Thai and I will try this recipe :)

  • Chef John, you got any recipes for pork brains?

  • AWESOME!... Im preparing this... Thanks!

  • i though the mango was a potato

  • chef easy on the fish might get mercury poisoning

  • I don't know what this andersbrtlsn fags problem is, but i love this!

  • "Strips of mango meat"...what EpicMealTime might call MANGO BACON.

  • @HKOverlord117 that's because EpicMealTime is pathetic.

  • @Lolwutty Oh, I agree. I usually eat only 3-4 strips of bacon for breakfast, not 30-40 every meal.

  • CHEF JOHN I MADE THIS JUST NOW AND IM EATING IT AS I TYPE.. its so good O.O

  • I already watched your video in my dream yesterday.

  • Good on pork. :)

  • maaaaannnnn i came here for the fish yo

  • thanks for using our mango here in the philippines : )

  • I did it. With swordfish. Great! for my tastebuds it needed a pinch of salt and sugar.

  • this mango sauce looks like Indian mango pickle called Amba it's so spicy

i love it with meat dishes :D

  • I'm Thai, and for Thais that was not spicy at all, for you guys really are!

TIPS for visiting Thailand, when you are ordering food, tell those waitresses VERY LITTLE spiciness in the food, that would be spicy for foreigners...

  • THIS LOOKS SO GOOOOOOOD.

  • Sure this won't taste very good with grilled bull penis.

but really, i love the technique with the mangos doctor john.

  • I don't have mango....can I use apple instead?

lol, just jokin chef john. Never tried mango on meat before, I'll have to try it soon.

  • I said poop :(

  • Looks so goodd

  • "And once I peel allll the available fruit from the mango, and you know mangoes, they have that weird kinda oval flat pit in the middle... I am going to suck on the mango pit" yummm!
